Acts 10:1-3 in English

¹ Now there was a certain man in Cæsarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

³ He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

¹ There was a certain man in Cæsarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

² A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

³ He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

¹ There was a man who lived in Caesarea city whose name was Cornelius. He was an officer who commanded 100 men in a large group of Roman soldiers from Italy.

² He always tried to do what would please God; he and his entire household MTY were non-Jews who habitually worshipped God. He sometimes gave money to help poor Jewish people, and he prayed to God regularly.

³ One day at about three o'clock in the afternoon Cornelius saw a vision. He clearly saw an angel whom God had sent. The angel came into his room and said to him, “Cornelius!”

¹ Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

² a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.

³ At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

² A serious-minded man, fearing God with all his family; he gave much money to the poor, and made prayer to God at all times.

³ He saw in a vision, clearly, at about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of the Lord coming to him and saying to him, Cornelius!

¹ But a certain man in Caesarea, — by name Cornelius, a centurion of the band called Italic,

² pious, and fearing God with all his house, both giving much alms to the people, and supplicating God continually,

³ — saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

¹ And there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of that which is called the Italian band;

² A religious man, and fearing God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and always praying to God.

³ This man saw in a vision manifestly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him: Cornelius.

¹ Now there was a certain man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

² a devout man, and one that feared God, together with all his household, who often gave alms to the people, and making petition to God always.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

¹ Now there was a certain man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

² devout and fearing God with all his household, both giving alms generously to the people and praying to God about everything.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, in a vision, he saw clearly an angel of God entering his presence and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

¹ In Caesarea lived a man named Cornelius who was a Roman centurion of the Italian battalion.

² He was a religious man who, together with everyone in his household, had great reverence for God. He gave generously to the poor, and prayed regularly to God.

³ At about 3 p.m. one day he had a vision in which he saw very clearly an angel of God who came to him and called to him, “Cornelius!”

¹ Futhermore there was a certaine man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a captaine of the band called the Italian band,

² A deuoute man, and one that feared God with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God continually.

³ He sawe in a vision euidently (about the ninth houre of the day) an Angel of God comming in to him, and saying vnto him, Cornelius.

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

¹ There was a boss in the Roman army called Cornelius. He was in the part of the Roman army called the Italian Unit. He lived in the town called Caesarea. He and his family lived good lives, and they respected God. Cornelius gave a lot of money and things to poor people, and he prayed to God every day.

³ One afternoon at 3 o’clock he was praying, and it was like he had a dream, but he was not asleep, he was awake. He saw an angel messenger from God coming to him and calling his name, “Cornelius.”

¹ Ther was a certayne man in Cesarea called Cornelius a captayne of the soudiers of Italy

² a devoute man and one that feared God with all his housholde which gave moche almes to the people and prayde God alwaye.

³ The same man sawe in a vision evydetly aboute the nynthe houre of the daye an angell of god comynge into him and sayinge vnto him: Cornelius.

¹ Now there was a certain man in the city of Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment.

² He was a devout man, one who worshiped God with all his household; he gave much money to those in need, and he constantly prayed to God.

³ This saw in a vision openly, as in the ninth hour of the day, or noon, an angel of God entering in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

¹ A man was in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the company of knights, that is said of Italy; (There was a man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, who was a centurion, or the leader, of a group of soldiers, called the Italian Company;)

² a religious man, and dreading the Lord, with all his household; doing many alms to the people, and praying (to) the Lord (for)evermore. (a religious man, who had fearful reverence for the Lord, with all his family; giving many gifts to the Jewish people, and always praying to the Lord.)

³ This saw in a vision openly, as in the ninth hour of the day, or (at) noon, an angel of God entering in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

¹ And there was a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,

² pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,

³ he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, 'Cornelius;'
