¹ A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. Jehovah, how are mine adversaries increased! Many are they that rise up against me.

² Many there are that say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah

³ But thou, O Jehovah, art a shield about me; My glory, and the lifter up of my head.

⁴ I cry unto Jehovah with my voice, And he answereth me out of his holy hill. Selah

⁵ I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for Jehovah sustaineth me.

⁶ I will not be afraid of ten thousands of the people That have set themselves against me round about.

³ Many say concerning my soul, There is no deliverance for him in his God. Pause.

² Many people are saying about me, “God will certainly not help him!”

³ But Yahweh, you are like a shield that protects me MET. You greatly honor me, and you encourage me (OR, enable me to triumph over my enemies) IDM.

⁴ I cry out to you, Yahweh, and you answer me from Zion, your sacred hill.

⁵ At night I lie down and sleep, and I awake in the morning feeling good/refreshed because you, Yahweh, ◄take care of/protect► me all during the night.

⁶ There may be thousands of enemy soldiers who surround me, but I am not afraid.

⁵ I took my rest in sleep, and then again I was awake; for the Lord was my support.

⁶ I will have no fear, though ten thousand have come round me, putting themselves against me.
