² I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.

³ For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence.

⁴ He will cover thee with his pinions, And under his wings shalt thou take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler.

⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

⁶ For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But it shall not come nigh thee.

⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And see the reward of the wicked.

⁹ For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge! Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;

¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.

¹¹ For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.

¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹³ Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: The young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under foot.

¹⁴ Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honor him.

¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.

² It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to thy name, O thou Most High;

³ to proclaim thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth by night,

⁴ on a psaltery of ten strings, with a song on the harp.

⁵ For thou, O Lord, hast made me glad with thy work: and in the operations of thy hands will I exult.

⁶ How have thy works been magnified, O Lord! thy thoughts are very deep.

⁷ A foolish man will not know, and a senseless man will not understand this.

⁸ When the sinners spring up as the grass, and all the workers of iniquity have watched; it is that they may be utterly destroyed for ever.

⁹ But thou, O Lord, art most high for ever.

¹⁰ For, behold, thine enemies shall perish; and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

¹¹ But my horn shall be exalted as the horn of a unicorn; and mine old age with rich mercy.

¹² And mine eye has seen mine enemies, and mine ear shall hear the wicked that rise up against me.

¹³ The righteous shall flourish as a palm-tree: he shall be increased as the cedar in Libanus.

¹⁴ They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

¹⁵ Then shall they be increased in a fine old age; and they shall be prosperous; that they may declare

¹⁶ that the Lord my God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.

² I will declare to Yahweh, “You protect me; you are like a fort MET in which I am safe. You are my God, the one in whom I trust.”

³ Yahweh will rescue you from all hidden traps and save you from deadly diseases.

⁴ He will shield/protect you like a bird shields/protects its chicks MET with/under her wings. You will be safe ◄in his care/because he takes care of you►. His faithfully doing what he has promised is like a shield MET that will protect you.

⁵ You will not be afraid of things that happen during the night that could ◄terrorize you/cause you to be very afraid►, or of arrows that your enemies will shoot at you during the day.

⁶ You will not be afraid of ◄plagues/widespread sicknesses► that demons cause when they attack people at night, or of other evil forces that kill people at midday.

⁷ Even if a thousand people fall dead alongside you, even if ten thousand people are dying around you, you will not be harmed.

⁸ Look and see that ◄wicked people are being punished/God is punishing wicked people►!

⁹ If you allow Yahweh to protect you, if you trust God Almighty to ◄shelter/take care of► you,

¹⁰ nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near your house,

¹¹ because Yahweh will command his angels to protect you wherever you go.

¹² They will hold you up with their hands, with the result that you will not hurt your foot on a big stone.

¹³ You will be kept safe from being harmed by your enemies MET; it will be as though you are stepping on lions and poisonous snakes without them harming you!

¹⁴ Yahweh says, “I will rescue those who love me, I will protect them because they ◄acknowledge that I am Yahweh/know me►.

¹⁵ When they call out to me, I will answer them. I will help them when they are experiencing trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.

¹⁶ I will reward them by enabling them to live a long time, and I will save them.”

³ He will take you out of the bird-net, and keep you safe from wasting disease.

⁴ You will be covered by his feathers; under his wings you will be safe: his good faith will be your salvation.

⁵ You will have no fear of the evil things of the night, or of the arrow in flight by day,

⁶ Or of the disease which takes men in the dark, or of the destruction which makes waste when the sun is high.

⁷ You will see a thousand falling by your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.

⁸ Only with your eyes will you see the reward of the evil-doers.

⁹ Because you have said, I am in the hands of the Lord, the Most High is my safe resting-place;

¹⁰ No evil will come on you, and no disease will come near your tent.

¹¹ For he will give you into the care of his angels to keep you wherever you go.

¹² In their hands they will keep you up, so that your foot may not be crushed against a stone.

¹³ You will put your foot on the lion and the snake; the young lion and the great snake will be crushed under your feet.

¹⁴ Because he has given me his love, I will take him out of danger: I will put him in a place of honour, because he has kept my name in his heart.

¹⁵ When his cry comes up to me, I will give him an answer: I will be with him in trouble; I will make him free from danger and give him honour.

¹⁶ With long life will he be rewarded; and I will let him see my salvation.

⁵ For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.

⁶ O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.

⁷ The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.

⁸ When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:

⁹ But thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.

¹⁰ For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

¹¹ But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.

¹² My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.

¹³ The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.

¹⁴ They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.

¹⁵ They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,

¹⁶ That they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.

² This is what I say about the Lord: “He is the one who defends and protects me. He is my God, and I trust in him.”

³ For he will save you from hidden traps and deadly diseases.

⁴ He will hide you under his feathers, and shelter you with his wings. His trustworthiness shields and protects you.

⁵ You will not be afraid of terror at night or an arrow that flies in the day,

⁶ or disease that attacks at night, or catastrophe that falls at noon.

⁷ A thousand may fall beside you, ten thousand die at your right hand, but you won't be harmed.

⁸ You only have to open your eyes and you will see how the wicked are repaid.

⁹ Because you have made the Lord your protection, and the Most High your home,

¹⁰ nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near where you live.

¹¹ For he will command his angels to take care of you in everything you do.

¹² They will hold you up with their hands so you won't trip and fall down.

¹³ You will trample lions and snakes; you will tread young lions and serpents underfoot.

¹⁴ I will save anyone who loves me; I will protect anyone who accepts me.

¹⁵ When they call out to me for help, I will answer; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will save and honor them.

¹⁶ I will grant them long lives, and show them my salvation.

¹³ Upon the fierce lion and asp shalt thou tread: thou shalt trample under foot the young lion and serpent.

¹⁴ Because he hath fixed his desire upon me, therefore will I release him: I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.

¹⁵ He will call on me, and I will answer him: with him will I be in distress; I will deliver him, and grant him honor.

¹⁶ With length of days will I satisfy him, and I will let him see my salvation.

² It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to thy name, O thou Most High;

³ To proclaim thy mercy in the morning, And thy truth by night,

⁴ On a psaltery of ten strings, with a song on the harp.

⁵ For thou, O Lord, hast made me glad with thy work: And in the operations of thy hands will I exult.

⁶ How have thy works been magnified, O Lord! Thy thoughts are very deep.

⁷ A foolish man will not know, And a senseless man will not understand this.

⁸ When the sinners spring up as the grass, And all the workers of iniquity have watched; It is that they may be utterly destroyed forever.

⁹ But thou, O Lord, art most high forever.

¹⁰ For, behold, thine enemies shall perish; And all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

¹¹ But my horn shall be exalted as the horn of a unicorn; And mine old age with rich mercy.

¹² And mine eye has seen mine enemies, And mine ear shall hear the wicked that rise up against me.

¹³ The righteous shall flourish as a palm tree: He shall be increased as the cedar in Lebanon.

¹⁴ They that are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

¹⁵ Then shall they be increased in a fine old age; And they shall be prosperous; That they may declare

¹⁶ that the Lord my God is righteous, And there is no iniquity in him.

¹³ Thou shalt go upon a snake, and a cockatrice; and thou shalt defoul a lion, and a dragon, (or and thou shalt trample upon a lion, and a dragon).

¹⁴ (For God saith), For he hoped in me, I shall deliver him, (or For God saith, Because he loved me, I shall save him); I shall defend him, for he knew my name.

¹⁵ He cried to me, and I shall hear him; I am with him in tribulation; I shall deliver him, and I shall glorify him. (When he crieth to me, I shall answer him; I shall be with him in all his troubles; I shall rescue him, and I shall honour him.)

¹¹ For His messengers He chargeth for thee, To keep thee in all thy ways,

¹² On the hands they bear thee up, Lest thou smite against a stone thy foot.

¹³ On lion and asp thou treadest, Thou trampest young lion and dragon.

¹⁴ Because in Me he hath delighted, I also deliver him — I set him on high, Because he hath known My name.

¹⁵ He doth call Me, and I answer him, I am with him in distress, I deliver him, and honour him.

¹⁶ With length of days I satisfy him, And I cause him to look on My salvation!
