¹ A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place In all generations.

² Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

³ Thou turnest man to destruction, And sayest, Return, ye children of men.

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.

⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁶ In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

⁷ For we are consumed in thine anger, And in thy wrath are we troubled.

⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.

¹¹ Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

² He shall say to the Lord, Thou art my helper and my refuge: my God; I will hope in him.

³ For he shall deliver thee from the snare of the hunters, from every troublesome matter.

⁴ He shall overshadow thee with his shoulders, and thou shalt trust under his wings: his truth shall cover thee with a shield.

⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid of terror by night; nor of the arrow flying by day;

⁶ nor of the evil thing that walks in darkness; nor of calamity, and the evil spirit at noon-day.

⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou observe and see the reward of sinners.

⁹ For thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou, my soul, hast made the Most High thy refuge.

¹⁰ No evils shall come upon thee, and no scourge shall draw nigh to thy dwelling.

¹ Lord, you have always ◄been like a home for us/protected us► MET.

² Before you created the mountains, before you formed the earth and everything that is in it, you were eternally God, and you will be God forever.

³ When people die, you cause their corpses to become soil again; you change their corpses to become dirt like the first man was created from.

⁴ When you ◄consider/think about► time, a thousand years are as short as SIM one day which passes; you consider that HYP they are as short as a few hours in the night.

⁵ You cause people suddenly to die MET; they live only a short time, like a dream lasts only a short time. They are like grass/weeds SIM that grow up.

⁶ In the morning DOU the grass sprouts and grows well, but in the evening it dries up and ◄completely withers/dies►.

⁷ Similarly, because of the sins that we have committed, you become angry with us; you terrify us and then you destroy us.

⁸ It is as though you place our sins in front of you, you spread out even our secret sins where you can see them.

⁹ Because you are angry with us, you cause our lives to end; the years that we live pass as quickly as a sigh does.

¹⁰ People live for only 70 years; but if they are strong, some of them live for 80 years. But even during good years we have much pain and troubles; our lives soon end, and we die EUP.

¹¹ No one RHQ has fully experienced the powerful things you can do to them when you are angry with them, and people are not afraid that you will greatly punish them because of your being angry with them.

⁷ We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath.

¹⁰ The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone.

¹¹ Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?

³ Thou makest mortal man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.

⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass that groweth up:

⁶ In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

¹ The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.

² He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust.

³ For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word.

⁴ He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust.

⁵ His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.

⁶ Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil.

⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee.

⁸ But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked.

⁹ Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge.

¹⁰ There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling.

¹¹ For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.

¹ A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, through every generation, you have been “home” for us!

² Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the universe, from eternity past to eternity future, you are God.

³ You turn people back into dust, saying, “Return to dust, human beings.”

⁴ In your eyes, a thousand years are like a day that's already gone; like a few passing hours of the night.

⁵ You bring people's lives to a sudden end, like dreams that vanish. They are like grass that grows up in the morning—

⁶ it sprouts in the morning, fresh and new, but by the evening it is withered and dead.

⁷ We are burned up by your anger, terrified by your fury.

⁸ You have set out our sins before you—our secret sins are visible in the light of your presence.

⁹ Our lives fade away under your anger, coming to an end as quickly as a sigh.

¹⁰ We live for seventy years—eighty if we have the strength. But even in the prime of life all that we have is hardship and suffering. Soon our lives are over and we're gone.

¹¹ Who can know the power of your anger? Who understands your fury so you can be shown reverence?

² Before the mountaines were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art our God.

³ Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam.

⁴ For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

⁵ Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse:

⁶ In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth.

⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they grow like the grass which changeth.

⁶ In the morning it blossometh, and is changed: in the evening it is mowed off, and withereth.

⁷ For thus are we consumed by thy anger, and by thy fury are we terrified.

⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we consume our years like a word that is spoken.

¹⁰ The days of our years in this life are seventy years; and if by uncommon vigor they be eighty, yet is their greatness trouble and mishap; for it soon hasteneth off, and we fly away.

¹¹ Who knoweth the strength of thy anger, and thy wrath which is like the fear of thee?

⁹ By reason of thine anger all our days vanish away; We spend our years like a thought.

¹⁰ The days of our life are threescore years and ten, And, by reason of strength, may be fourscore years: Yet is the pride of them weariness and sorrow; For it vanisheth swiftly, and we fly away.

¹¹ Yet who attendeth to the power of thine anger? Who with due reverence regardeth thine indignation?

¹ A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been a home to us one generation after another.

² Before the mountains were born, or the earth and the world were brought forth, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

³ You bring us back to the dust, you summon mortals to return.

⁴ For you see a thousand years as the passing of yesterday, as a watch in the night.

⁵ Your floods sweep them away; they are like a dream, or like grass which sprouts in the morning,

⁶ which blossoms and sprouts in the morning, but by evening is cut and withered.

⁷ For your anger consumes us, the heat of your wrath confounds us.

² Before the mountains were born, or the earth and the world were brought forth, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

³ You bring us back to the dust, you summon mortals to return.

⁴ For you see a thousand years as the passing of yesterday, as a watch in the night.

⁵ Your floods sweep them away; they are like a dream, or like grass which sprouts in the morning,

⁶ which blossoms and sprouts in the morning, but by evening is cut and withered.

⁷ For your anger consumes us, the heat of your wrath confounds us.

⁹ For all our days have failed; and we have failed in thine ire. Our years (we) shall bethink upon as a spider; (For all our days be brought to an end by thy anger. All our years we shall remember as but a whisper;)

¹⁰ the days of our years be those seventy years. Forsooth, if fourscore years/if eighty years be in mighty men; and (yet) the more time of them is travail and sorrow. For mildness came above; and we shall be chastised. (and the days of our years be those seventy years. For strong people, they be eighty years; yet most of that time is trouble, or labour, and sorrow. For life is short; and then we be gone.)
