Psalms 89:2-7 in English

² For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever; Thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens.

³ I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant:

⁴ Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah

⁵ And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Jehovah; Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

⁶ For who in the skies can be compared unto Jehovah? Who among the sons of the mighty is like unto Jehovah,

⁷ A God very terrible in the council of the holy ones, And to be feared above all them that are round about him?

² Before the mountains existed, and before the earth and the world were formed, even from age to age, Thou art.

³ Turn not man back to his low place, whereas thou saidst, Return, ye sons of men?

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight are as the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.

⁵ Years shall be vanity to them: let the morning pass away as grass.

⁶ In the morning let it flower, and pass away: in the evening let it droop, let it be withered and dried up.

⁷ For we have perished in thine anger, and in thy wrath we have been troubled.

² I will tell people that you will faithfully love us forever, and that your being faithful to do what you have promised is as permanent as the sky.

³ Yahweh said, “I have made an agreement with David, whom I chose to serve me. I have made this solemn ◄agreement with/promise to► him:

⁴ ‘I will enable various ones of your descendants to always be kings; the line of kings descended from you MTY will never end.’”

⁵ Yahweh, I desire that all those beings who are in MTY heaven will praise you for the wonderful things that you do, and that all your holy angels will sing about how you faithfully do what you promise.

⁶ There is no one RHQ in heaven who can be compared with you, Yahweh. There are no angels RHQ in heaven who are equal to you.

⁷ When your holy angels gather together, they declare that you must be revered; they say that you are more awesome than all the angels that surround your throne!

⁶ For who in the skies can be compared to Yahweh? Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like Yahweh,

⁷ a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?

⁷ a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?

² For you have said, Mercy will be made strong for ever; my faith will be unchanging in the heavens.

³ I have made an agreement with the man of my selection, I have made an oath to David my servant;

⁴ I will make your seed go on for ever, your kingdom will be strong through all generations. (Selah.)

⁵ In heaven let them give praise for your wonders, O Lord; and your unchanging faith among the saints.

⁶ For who is there in the heavens in comparison with the Lord? who is like the Lord among the sons of the gods?

⁷ God is greatly to be feared among the saints, and to be honoured over all those who are about him.

² For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.

³ I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant:

⁴ Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

⁵ And the heavens shall celebrate thy wonders, O Jehovah, and thy faithfulness in the congregation of the saints.

⁶ For who in the heaven can be compared to Jehovah? who among the sons of the mighty shall be likened to Jehovah?

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the council of the saints, and terrible for all that are round about him.

² Before the mountains were made, or the earth and the world was formed; from eternity and to eternity thou art God.

³ Turn not man away to be brought low: and thou hast said: Be converted, O ye sons of men.

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday, which is past. And as a watch in the night,

⁵ Things that are counted nothing, shall their years be.

⁶ In the morning man shall grow up like grass; in the morning he shall flourish and pass away: in the evening he shall fall, grow dry, and wither.

⁷ For in thy wrath we have fainted away: and are troubled in thy indignation.

² For I have said, “Your unfailing love lasts forever; your faithfulness endures as long as the heavens.”

³ You said, “I have made an agreement with my chosen one, I gave a binding promise to my servant David:

⁴ I will make sure your lineage lasts forever; I will keep your throne secure for all generations.” Selah.

⁵ All the heavenly beings will sing of the wonderful things you have done, Lord; angels will gather to sing of your faithfulness.

⁶ For who in heaven can compare to the Lord? Who is like the Lord even among the angels?

⁷ The heavenly council are in awe of God; all who surround him are overwhelmed by him.

² For I said, Mercie shalbe set vp for euer: thy trueth shalt thou stablish in ye very heauens.

³ I haue made a couenant with my chosen: I haue sworne to Dauid my seruant,

⁴ Thy seede will I stablish for euer, and set vp thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

⁵ O Lord, euen the heauens shall prayse thy wonderous worke: yea, thy trueth in the Congregation of the Saints.

⁶ For who is equall to the Lord in the heauen? and who is like the Lord among the sonnes of the gods?

⁷ God is very terrible in the assemblie of the Saints, and to be reuerenced aboue all, that are about him.

² (89-3) For I have said: 'For ever is mercy built; in the very heavens Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness.

³ (89-4) I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:

⁴ (89-5) For ever will I establish thy seed, and build up thy throne to all generations.' Selah

⁵ (89-6) So shall the heavens praise Thy wonders, O LORD, Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

⁶ (89-7) For who in the skies can be compared unto the LORD, who among the sons of might can be likened unto the LORD,

⁷ (89-8) A God dreaded in the great council of the holy ones, and feared of all them that are about Him?

² For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: Thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

³ I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,

⁴ Thy seed will I stablish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

⁵ And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Lord: Thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.

⁶ For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

² (89:3) For I have said, To eternity will kindness be built up: the heavens—yea, in these wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.

³ (89:4) “I have made a covenant with my elect, I have sworn unto David my servant,

⁴ (89:5) Unto eternity will I establish thy seed, and I will build up thy throne, from generation to generation.” Selah.

⁵ (89:6) And the heavens praise thy wonder, O Lord: also thy faithfulness in the assembly of holy ones.

⁶ (89:7) For who in the sky can be compared unto the Lord? who can be likened unto the Lord among the sons of the mighty?

⁷ (89:8) God is greatly terrific in the secret council of the holy ones and fear-inspiring over all that are about him.

² Before the mountains existed, And before the earth and the world were formed, Even from age to age, thou art.

³ Turn not man back to his low place, Whereas thou saidst, Return, ye sons of men?

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight are As the yesterday which is past, And as a watch in the night.

⁵ Years shall be vanity to them: Let the morning pass away as grass.

⁴ Thy family I will establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations.” Pause.

⁵ The heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD! And the assembly of the holy ones thy truth!

⁶ Who in the heavens can be compared to Jehovah? Who is like Jehovah among the sons of God?

⁷ A God greatly to be feared in the assembly of the holy ones, And to be had in reverence above all who are around him?

² For your love you did promise to build up forever, your faithfulness firm as the heavens themselves.

³ “I have made with my chosen a covenant, and sworn to David my servant,

⁴ to establish his seed forever, and to build up his throne to all ages.” Selah

⁵ Then the holy assembly in heaven praised your marvellous faithfulness, Lord.

⁶ For who in the skies may compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord amongst the gods?

⁷ A God to be feared in the holy assembly, awful and great above all who are round him.

² For your love you did promise to build up forever, your faithfulness firm as the heavens themselves.

³ “I have made with my chosen a covenant, and sworn to David my servant,

⁴ to establish his seed forever, and to build up his throne to all ages.” Selah

⁵ Then the holy assembly in heaven praised your marvelous faithfulness, Lord.

⁶ For who in the skies may compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the gods?

⁷ A God to be feared in the holy assembly, awful and great above all who are round him.

² I indeed declare, “Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them.”

³ “I have made a covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with my chosen one, I have sworn to David Beloved, my servant,

⁴ ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build up your throne to all generations.’” Selah ·contemplation with musical interlude·.

⁵ The heavens will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· of your wonders, Adonai ; your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

⁶ For who in the skies can be compared to Adonai ? Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like Adonai ,

⁷ a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?

² For I have said, “Covenant faithfulness has been established forever; your truthfulness you have established in the heavens.”

³ “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have made an oath to David my servant.

⁴ I will establish your descendants forever, and I will establish your throne through all generations.” Selah

⁵ The heavens praise your wonders, Yahweh; your truthfulness is praised in the assembly of the holy ones.

⁶ For who in the skies can be compared to Yahweh? Who among the sons of the gods is like Yahweh?

⁷ He is a God who is greatly honored in the council of the holy ones and is awesome among all who surround him.

² I indeed declare, “Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them.”

³ “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant,

⁴ ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build up your throne to all generations.’” Selah.

⁵ The heavens will praise your wonders, Yahweh, your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

⁶ For who in the skies can be compared to Yahweh? Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like Yahweh,

⁷ a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?

² For thou saidest, Without end mercy shall be builded in heavens; thy truth shall be made ready in those or them.

³ Thou saidest, I disposed a testa-ment to my chosen men; I swore to David, my servant,

⁴ till into without end I shall make ready thy seed. And I shall build thy seat; in generation, and into generation.

⁵ Lord, heavens shall acknowledge thy marvels; and thy truth in the church of saints.

⁶ For who in the clouds shall be made even to the Lord; shall be like God among the sons of God?

⁷ God, that is glorified in the council of saints; is great, and dreadful over all that be in his compass.

² For thou saidest, Into Without end mercy shall be builded in heavens; thy truth shall be made ready in those. (For thy love shall last forever; thy faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.)

³ I disposed a testament to my chosen men; I swore to David, my servant, (Thou saidest, I made a covenant with my chosen man; I swore to my servant David,)

⁴ till into without end I shall make ready thy seed. And I shall build thy seat; in generation, and into generation. (that I shall establish thy children, or thy descendants, forever. And I shall preserve thy throne; for all generations.)

⁵ Lord, heavens shall acknowledge thy marvels; and thy truth in the church of saints. (Lord, the heavens shall praise thy marvellous deeds; and the council of the saints shall praise thy faithfulness.)

⁶ For who in the clouds shall be made even to the Lord; shall be like God among the sons of God? (For who in heaven shall be made equal to the Lord? who shall be like God among the heavenly beings? or who shall be like God in the council of heaven?)

⁷ God, that is glorified in the council of saints; is great, and dreadful over all that be in his compass. (God, thou art feared or thou art revered, in the council of the saints; thou art great, and glorified above all who surround thee.)

² For I said, 'To the age is kindness built, The heavens! Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness in them.'

³ I have made a covenant for My chosen, I have sworn to David My servant:

⁴ 'Even to the age do I establish thy seed, And have built to generation and generation thy throne. Selah.

⁵ and the heavens confess Thy wonders, O Jehovah, Thy faithfulness also is in an assembly of holy ones.

⁶ For who in the sky, Compareth himself to Jehovah? Is like to Jehovah among sons of the mighty?

⁷ God is very terrible, In the secret counsel of His holy ones, And fearful over all surrounding Him.
