Psalms 89:1-5 in English

¹ Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the lovingkindness of Jehovah for ever: With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

² For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever; Thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens.

³ I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant:

⁴ Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah

⁵ And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Jehovah; Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

¹ A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our refuge in all generations.

² Before the mountains existed, and before the earth and the world were formed, even from age to age, Thou art.

³ Turn not man back to his low place, whereas thou saidst, Return, ye sons of men?

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight are as the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.

⁵ Years shall be vanity to them: let the morning pass away as grass.

¹ Yahweh, I will sing forever about the ways you faithfully love me; people not yet born will hear that you faithfully do all that you have promised.

² I will tell people that you will faithfully love us forever, and that your being faithful to do what you have promised is as permanent as the sky.

³ Yahweh said, “I have made an agreement with David, whom I chose to serve me. I have made this solemn ◄agreement with/promise to► him:

⁴ ‘I will enable various ones of your descendants to always be kings; the line of kings descended from you MTY will never end.’”

⁵ Yahweh, I desire that all those beings who are in MTY heaven will praise you for the wonderful things that you do, and that all your holy angels will sing about how you faithfully do what you promise.

⁵ In heaven let them give praise for your wonders, O Lord; and your unchanging faith among the saints.

² For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.

³ Turn not man away to be brought low: and thou hast said: Be converted, O ye sons of men.

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday, which is past. And as a watch in the night,

⁵ Things that are counted nothing, shall their years be.

¹ A psalm (maskil) of Ethan the Ezraite I will sing of the Lord's trustworthy love forever; I will tell all generations of your faithfulness.

² For I have said, “Your unfailing love lasts forever; your faithfulness endures as long as the heavens.”

³ You said, “I have made an agreement with my chosen one, I gave a binding promise to my servant David:

⁴ I will make sure your lineage lasts forever; I will keep your throne secure for all generations.” Selah.

⁵ All the heavenly beings will sing of the wonderful things you have done, Lord; angels will gather to sing of your faithfulness.

² For I said, Mercie shalbe set vp for euer: thy trueth shalt thou stablish in ye very heauens.

³ I haue made a couenant with my chosen: I haue sworne to Dauid my seruant,

⁴ Thy seede will I stablish for euer, and set vp thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

⁵ O Lord, euen the heauens shall prayse thy wonderous worke: yea, thy trueth in the Congregation of the Saints.

² (89-3) For I have said: 'For ever is mercy built; in the very heavens Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness.

³ (89-4) I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:

⁴ (89-5) For ever will I establish thy seed, and build up thy throne to all generations.' Selah

⁵ (89-6) So shall the heavens praise Thy wonders, O LORD, Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

² (89:3) For I have said, To eternity will kindness be built up: the heavens—yea, in these wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.

³ (89:4) “I have made a covenant with my elect, I have sworn unto David my servant,

⁴ (89:5) Unto eternity will I establish thy seed, and I will build up thy throne, from generation to generation.” Selah.

⁵ (89:6) And the heavens praise thy wonder, O Lord: also thy faithfulness in the assembly of holy ones.

¹ A song. A psalm of the Korahites. I will sing evermore of the love of the Lord, proclaiming to all generations his faithfulness.

² For your love you did promise to build up forever, your faithfulness firm as the heavens themselves.

³ “I have made with my chosen a covenant, and sworn to David my servant,

⁴ to establish his seed forever, and to build up his throne to all ages.” Selah

⁵ Then the holy assembly in heaven praised your marvellous faithfulness, Lord.

² For I have said, “Covenant faithfulness has been established forever; your truthfulness you have established in the heavens.”

⁴ I will establish your descendants forever, and I will establish your throne through all generations.” Selah

² For thou saidest, Into Without end mercy shall be builded in heavens; thy truth shall be made ready in those. (For thy love shall last forever; thy faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.)

³ I disposed a testament to my chosen men; I swore to David, my servant, (Thou saidest, I made a covenant with my chosen man; I swore to my servant David,)

⁴ till into without end I shall make ready thy seed. And I shall build thy seat; in generation, and into generation. (that I shall establish thy children, or thy descendants, forever. And I shall preserve thy throne; for all generations.)

⁵ Lord, heavens shall acknowledge thy marvels; and thy truth in the church of saints. (Lord, the heavens shall praise thy marvellous deeds; and the council of the saints shall praise thy faithfulness.)

¹ An instruction, by Ethan the Ezrahite. Of the kind acts of Jehovah, to the age I sing, To all generations I make known Thy faithfulness with my mouth,

² For I said, 'To the age is kindness built, The heavens! Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness in them.'

⁴ 'Even to the age do I establish thy seed, And have built to generation and generation thy throne. Selah.
