¹¹ Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or thy faithfulness in Destruction?

¹² Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ But unto thee, O Jehovah, have I cried; And in the morning shall my prayer come before thee.

¹⁴ Jehovah, why castest thou off my soul? Why hidest thou thy face from me?

¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

¹⁶ Thy fierce wrath is gone over me; Thy terrors have cut me off.

¹⁷ They came round about me like water all the day long; They compassed me about together.

¹⁸ Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, And mine acquaintance into darkness.

¹¹ Thou hast brought down the proud as one that is slain; and with the arm of thy power thou hast scattered thine enemies.

¹² The heavens are thine, and the earth is thine: thou hast founded the world, and the fulness of it.

¹³ Thou hast created the north and the west: Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.

¹⁴ Thine is the mighty arm: let thy hand be strengthened, let thy right hand be exalted.

¹⁵ Justice and judgment are the establishment of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

¹⁶ Blessed is the people that knows the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.

¹⁷ And in thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

¹⁸ For thou art the boast of their strength; and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted,

¹¹ Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?

¹² Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹¹ Corpses in the grave certainly do not tell about your faithfully loving us RHQ, and in the place where people are finally destroyed, no one tells about what you faithfully do for us RHQ.

¹² No one in the deep dark pit ever sees the miracles that you perform RHQ, and no one in the place where people have been completely forgotten tells about your being good to us.

¹³ But as for me, Yahweh, I cry out to you to help me; each morning I pray to you.

¹⁴ Yahweh, why do you reject me RHQ? Why do you turn away from me RHQ?

¹⁵ All the time since I was young, I have suffered and have often almost died; I am ◄in despair/very discouraged► because of enduring the terrible things that you have done to me.

¹⁶ I feel that you have crushed me because of your being angry with me; the terrible things that you are doing to me are almost destroying me.

¹⁷ I feel as though they surround me like a flood SIM; they are ◄closing in on/crushing► me from all sides.

¹⁸ You have caused even my friends and others whom I love to avoid me, and it is as though the only friend that I have is darkness.

¹¹ The heavens are your, and the earth is your: you have founded the world, and the fullness of it.

¹² You have created the north and the west: Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in your name.

¹¹ Will the story of your mercy be given in the house of the dead? will news of your faith come to the place of destruction?

¹² May there be knowledge of your wonders in the dark? or of your righteousness where memory is dead?

¹³ But to you did I send up my cry, O Lord; in the morning my prayer came before you.

¹⁴ Lord, why have you sent away my soul? why is your face covered from me?

¹⁵ I have been troubled and in fear of death from the time when I was young; your wrath is hard on me, and I have no strength.

¹⁶ The heat of your wrath has gone over me; I am broken by your cruel punishments.

¹⁷ They are round me all the day like water; they have made a circle about me.

¹⁸ You have sent my friends and lovers far from me; I am gone from the memory of those who are dear to me.

¹¹ Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? thy faithfulness in Destruction?

¹² Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ But as for me, Jehovah, I cry unto thee, and in the morning my prayer cometh before thee.

¹⁴ Why, O Jehovah, castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

¹⁵ I am afflicted and expiring from my youth up; I suffer thy terrors, and I am distracted.

¹⁶ Thy fierce anger hath gone over me; thy terrors have brought me to nought:

¹⁷ They have surrounded me all the day like water; they have compassed me about together.

¹⁸ Lover and associate hast thou put far from me: my familiar friends are darkness.

¹¹ Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.

¹² Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:

¹³ The north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name:

¹⁴ Thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted:

¹⁵ Justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face:

¹⁶ Blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance:

¹⁷ And in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted.

¹⁸ For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted.

¹¹ Your faithful love—is it mentioned in the grave? Your trustworthiness—is it discussed in the place of destruction?

¹² Are the wonderful things you do known in the darkness? Is your goodness known in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ But I cry out to you for help; every morning I pray to you.

¹⁴ Lord, why do you reject me? Why do you turn away from me?

¹⁵ I have been sick since I was young, often at death's door. I have had to bear the terrible things you've done to me. I'm in despair!

¹⁶ Your anger has overcome me; the terrible things you do have destroyed me.

¹⁷ They surround me all the time like floodwaters, swallowing me up.

¹⁸ You have made my family and friends avoid me. Darkness is my only friend.

¹¹ Shall thy louing kindenes be declared in the graue? or thy faithfulnes in destruction?

¹² Shall thy wonderous workes be knowen in the darke? and thy righteousnes in the land of obliuion?

¹³ But vnto thee haue I cryed, O Lord, and early shall my prayer come before thee.

¹⁴ Lord, why doest thou reiect my soule, and hidest thy face from me?

¹⁵ I am afflicted and at the point of death: from my youth I suffer thy terrours, doubting of my life.

¹⁶ Thine indignations goe ouer me, and thy feare hath cut me off.

¹⁷ They came round about me dayly like water, and compassed me together.

¹⁸ My louers and friends hast thou put away from me, and mine acquaintance hid themselues.

¹¹ (88-12) Shall Thy mercy be declared in the grave? or Thy faithfulness in destruction?

¹² (88-13) Shall Thy wonders be known in the dark? and Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ (88-14) But as for me, unto Thee, O LORD, do I cry, and in the morning doth my prayer come to meet Thee.

¹⁴ (88-15) LORD, why castest Thou off my soul? Why hidest Thou Thy face from me?

¹⁵ (88-16) I am afflicted and at the point of death from my youth up; I have borne Thy terrors, I am distracted.

¹⁶ (88-17) Thy fierce wrath is gone over me; Thy terrors have cut me off.

¹⁷ (88-18) They came round about me like water all the day; they compassed me about together.

¹⁸ (88-19) Friend and companion hast Thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.

¹¹ Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or thy faithfulness in destruction?

¹² Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ (88:14) Yet I cry indeed aloud unto thee, O Lord; and in the morning shall my prayer come before thee.

¹⁴ (88:15) Why, O Lord, wilt thou cast off my soul? why wilt thou hide thy face from me?

¹⁵ (88:16) I am afflicted and perishing from my youth up: I bear thy terrors, I am distracted.

¹⁶ (88:17) Over me have the fires of thy wrath passed; thy terrors have destroyed me;

¹⁷ (88:18) They encompass me like water all the time; they have closed in round about me together.

¹⁸ (88:19) Thou hast removed far from me lover and friend, my acquaintances are in darkness.

¹⁷ They surround me daily like water; They compass me about together.

¹⁸ Lover and friend hast thou put far from me; My acquaintances are withdrawn from my sight.

¹¹ Can your kindness be told in the grave, your faithfulness in the tomb?

¹² Can your wonders be known in the darkness, or your help in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ I cry for help to you, in the morning my prayer comes before you.

¹⁴ Why, O Lord, do you spurn me, and hide your face from me?

¹⁵ From my youth I am wretched and dying, I am numbed by the terrors I bear.

¹⁶ The fires of your wrath have passed over me, your terrors destroy me,

¹⁷ surging around me forever, hemming me in altogether.

¹⁸ Those who love me you put far from me; the dark is my only friend.

¹¹ Can your kindness be told in the grave, your faithfulness in the tomb?

¹² Can your wonders be known in the darkness, or your help in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ I cry for help to you, in the morning my prayer comes before you.

¹⁴ Why, O Lord, do you spurn me, and hide your face from me?

¹⁵ From my youth I am wretched and dying, I am numbed by the terrors I bear.

¹⁶ The fires of your wrath have passed over me, your terrors destroy me,

¹⁷ surging around me forever, hemming me in altogether.

¹⁸ Those who love me you put far from me; the dark is my only friend.

¹¹ Is your cheshed ·loving-kindness· declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Abaddon ·Destruction, Unrighteous side of Sheol·?

¹² Are your wonders made known in the dark? Or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ But to you, Adonai , I have cried. In the morning, my prayer comes before you.

¹⁴ Adonai , why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?

¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted.

¹⁶ Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off.

¹⁷ They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me.

¹⁸ You have put 'ahav ·affectionate lover· and friend far from me, and my friends into darkness.

¹¹ Will your covenant faithfulness be proclaimed in the grave, your loyalty in the place of the dead?

¹² Will your wonderful deeds be known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the place of forgetfulness?

¹³ But I cry to you, Yahweh; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

¹⁴ Yahweh, why do you reject me? Why do you hide your face from me?

¹⁵ I have always been afflicted and on the verge of death since my youth. I have suffered from your terrors; I am in despair.

¹⁶ Your angry actions have passed over me, and your terrifying deeds have annihilated me.

¹⁷ They surround me like water all the day long; they have all encircled me.

¹⁸ You have removed every friend and acquaintance from me. My only acquaintance is the darkness.

¹¹ Is your loving kindness declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction?

¹² Are your wonders made known in the dark? Or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹¹ Whether any man in sepulchre shall tell thy mercy; and thy truth in perdition?

¹² Whether thy marvels shall be known in darknesses; and thy right-fulness or rightwiseness in the land of forgetting?

¹³ And, Lord, I cried to thee; and early my prayer shall before come to thee.

¹⁴ Lord, why puttest thou away my prayer; thou turnest away thy face from me?

¹⁵ I am poor, and in travails from my youth; soothly I am enhanced, and I am made low, and troubled.

¹⁶ Thy wraths passed on me; and thy dreads troubled me.

¹⁷ They encompassed me as water all day; they encompassed me altogether.

¹⁸ Thou madest far from me a friend and neighbour; and my known from wretchedness.

¹¹ Whether any man in sepulchre shall tell thy mercy; and thy truth in perdition? (Shall any man in the tomb, or in the grave, tell of thy love? or in perdition, tell of thy faithfulness?)

¹² Whether thy marvels shall be known in darknesses; and thy rightfulness in the land of forgetting? (Shall thy marvellous deeds be known in the dark places? or thy righteousness in the land of the forgotten? or in the land of oblivion?)

¹³ And, Lord, I cried to thee; and early my prayer shall before come to thee. (But, Lord, I cried to thee; and every morning my prayer hath come before thee.)

¹⁴ Lord, why puttest thou away my prayer; thou turnest away thy face from me? (Lord, why puttest thou me away? why rejectest me? why turnest thou away thy face from me?)

¹⁵ I am poor, and in travails from my youth; soothly I am enhanced, and I am made low, and troubled. (I am poor, and have had troubles from my youth; truly I am abased, and greatly troubled.)

¹⁶ Thy wraths passed on me; and thy dreads troubled me. (Thy rages have swept over me or Thy anger hath come upon me; and thy terrors have made me afraid.)

¹⁷ They (en)compassed me as water all day; they (en)compassed me (al)together. (They surrounded me like water all day long; they have completely surrounded me.)

¹⁸ Thou madest far from me a friend and neighbour; and my known from wretchedness. (Thou hast taken my friends and my neighbours far away from me; and now wretchedness is my only companion.)

¹¹ Is Thy kindness recounted in the grave? Thy faithfulness in destruction?

¹² Are Thy wonders known in the darkness? And Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³ And I, unto Thee, O Jehovah, I have cried, And in the morning doth my prayer come before Thee.

¹⁴ Why, O Jehovah, castest Thou off my soul? Thou hidest Thy face from me.

¹⁵ I am afflicted, and expiring from youth, I have borne Thy terrors — I pine away.

¹⁶ Over me hath Thy wrath passed, Thy terrors have cut me off,

¹⁷ They have surrounded me as waters all the day, They have gone round against me together,

¹⁸ Thou hast put far from me lover and friend, Mine acquaintance is the place of darkness!
