² Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.

³ Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁴ O Jehovah God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

⁵ Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.

⁶ Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves.

⁷ Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁸ Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it.

⁹ Thou preparedst room before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land.

² Rejoice ye in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.

³ Take a psalm, and produce the timbrel, the pleasant psaltery with the harp.

⁴ Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.

⁵ For this is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.

⁶ He made it to be a testimony in Joseph, when he came forth out of the land of Egypt: he heard a language which he understood not.

⁷ He removed his back from burdens: his hands slaved in making the baskets.

⁸ Thou didst call upon me in trouble, and I delivered thee; I heard thee in the secret place of the storm: I proved thee at the water of Strife. Pause.

² Show yourself to the people of the tribes of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh! Show us that you are powerful and come and rescue us!

³ God, cause our nation to be strong like it was before; be kind to us IDM in order that we may be saved from our enemies.

⁴ Yahweh, you who are the commander of the armies of heaven, how long will you be angry with us, your people, when we pray to you?

⁵ It is as though the only food and drink that you have given us is a cup full of our tears!

⁶ You have allowed the people-groups that surround us to fight with each other to decide which part of our land each of them will take; our enemies laugh at us.

⁷ God, commander of the armies of heaven, cause our nation to be strong like it was before! Be kind to us in order that we may be saved!

⁸ Our ancestors were like a grapevine MET that you brought out of Egypt; you expelled the other people-groups from this land, and you put your people in their land.

⁹ Like people clear ground to plant a grapevine MET, you cleared out the people who were living in this land for us to live in it. Like the roots of a grapevine go deep down into the ground and spread MET, you enabled our ancestors to prosper and start living in towns all over this land.

³ Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.

⁴ O Lord God of armies, how long will your wrath be burning against the rest of your people?

⁵ You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure.

⁶ You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves.

⁷ Take us back again, O God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.

⁸ You took a vine out of Egypt: driving out the nations, and planting it in their land.

⁹ You made ready a place for it, so that it might take deep root, and it sent out its branches over all the land.

² Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy strength, and come to our deliverance.

³ O God, restore us; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁴ Jehovah, God of hosts, how long will thine anger smoke against the prayer of thy people?

⁵ Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure:

⁶ Thou hast made us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies mock among themselves.

⁷ Restore us, O God of hosts; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁵ For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.

⁶ He ordained it for a testimony in Joseph, when he came out of the land of Egypt: he heard a tongue which he knew not.

⁷ He removed his back from the burdens: his hands had served in baskets.

⁸ Thou calledst upon me in affliction, and I delivered thee: I heard thee in the secret place of tempest: I proved thee at the waters of contradiction.

⁹ Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me,

² in the presence of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Gather together your power and come to save us!

³ God, please restore us! Let your face shine on us so we can be saved.

⁴ Lord God Almighty, how long will you be angry with the prayers of your people?

⁵ You fed them with the bread of tears, and gave them a full bowl of tears to drink.

⁶ You turn us into victims our neighbors fight over; our enemies mock us.

⁷ God Almighty, please restore us! Let your face shine on us so we can be saved!

⁸ You carried us out of Egypt like a vine. You drove out the heathen nations, and then you planted the vine.

⁹ You prepared the ground for the vine. It took root and filled the land.

⁹ in the ground you did clear she struck root, and she filled all the land.

⁶ Thou hast set or put us into against-saying to our neighbours; and our enemies have scorned us.

⁷ God of virtues, turn or convert thou us; and show thy face, and we shall be safe.

⁸ Thou translatedest or brought over a vine from Egypt; thou castedest out heathen men, and plantedest it.

⁹ Thou were leader of the way in the sight thereof; and thou plantedest the roots thereof, and it filled the land.

⁵ How long shalt thou feed us with the bread of tears; and shalt give drink to us with tears in (great) measure? (How long shalt thou feed us with tears, instead of bread? and for drink, give us more tears, or even greater sorrow?)

⁶ Thou hast set us into against-saying to our neighbours; and our enemies have scorned us. (Thou hast made our neighbours to speak out against us; and our enemies have mocked us.)

⁷ God of virtues, turn thou us (again); and show thy face, and we shall be safe. (God of hosts, bring us back; and shine thy face upon us, and we shall be saved.)

⁸ Thou translatedest a vine from Egypt; thou castedest out heathen men, and plantedest it. (Thou broughtest up a vine out of Egypt; thou threwest out the heathen, and then thou plantedest that vine, that is, us.)
