¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; Thou that sittest above the cherubim, shine forth.

² Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.

³ Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁴ O Jehovah God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

⁵ Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.

⁶ Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves.

¹ For the end, a Psalm for Asaph, concerning the wine-presses.

² Rejoice ye in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.

³ Take a psalm, and produce the timbrel, the pleasant psaltery with the harp.

⁴ Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.

⁵ For this is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.

⁶ He made it to be a testimony in Joseph, when he came forth out of the land of Egypt: he heard a language which he understood not.

² Show yourself to the people of the tribes of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh! Show us that you are powerful and come and rescue us!

³ God, cause our nation to be strong like it was before; be kind to us IDM in order that we may be saved from our enemies.

⁴ Yahweh, you who are the commander of the armies of heaven, how long will you be angry with us, your people, when we pray to you?

⁵ It is as though the only food and drink that you have given us is a cup full of our tears!

⁶ You have allowed the people-groups that surround us to fight with each other to decide which part of our land each of them will take; our enemies laugh at us.

³ Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.

⁴ O Lord God of armies, how long will your wrath be burning against the rest of your people?

⁵ You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure.

⁶ You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves.

⁶ Thou hast made us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies mock among themselves.

⁵ For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.

⁶ You turn us into victims our neighbors fight over; our enemies mock us.

³ Turne vs againe, O God, and cause thy face to shine that we may be saued.

⁵ Thou hast fedde them with the bread of teares, and giuen them teares to drinke with great measure.

⁶ Thou hast made vs a strife vnto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at vs among themselues.

⁶ The scorn of our neighbours you make us, the laughing-stock of our foes.

⁵ How long shalt thou feed us with the bread of tears; and shalt give drink to us with tears in great measure?

⁶ Thou hast set or put us into against-saying to our neighbours; and our enemies have scorned us.

¹ To victory; this psalm is the witnessing of Asaph for lilies. Thou that governest Israel, give attention; that leadest forth Joseph as a sheep. ⁶ Thou hast set us into against-saying to our neighbours; and our enemies have scorned us. (Thou hast made our neighbours to speak out against us; and our enemies have mocked us.)
