¹ A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance; Thy holy temple have they defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

² The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be food unto the birds of the heavens, The flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

³ Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; And there was none to bury them.

⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and derision to them that are round about us.

⁵ How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou be angry for ever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

⁶ Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not, And upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name.

² Attend, O Shepherd of Israel, who guidest Joseph like a flock; thou who sittest upon the cherubs, manifest thyself;

³ before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasse, stir up thy power, and come to deliver us.

⁴ Turn us, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be delivered.

⁵ O Lord God of hosts, how long art thou angry with the prayer of thy servant?

⁶ Thou wilt feed us with bread of tears; and wilt cause us to drink tears by measure.

¹ God, other people-groups have invaded your land. They have ◄desecrated your temple/caused your temple to be unfit for worship►, and they have destroyed all the buildings in Jerusalem.

² Instead of burying the corpses of your people whom they killed, they allowed vultures and wild anmals to eat the flesh of those corpses,

³ When they killed your people, your people's blood flowed like water through the streets of Jerusalem, and there was almost no one HYP left to bury their corpses.

⁴ The people-groups that live in countries that surround our land insult us; they laugh at us and deride/belittle us.

⁵ Yahweh, how long will this continue? Will you be angry with us forever? Will your being angry destroy us like a burning fire destroys things?

⁶ Instead of being angry with us, be angry with the people-groups that do not know/worship you! Be angry with kingdoms whose people do not pray to you,

³ Their blood has been flowing like water round about Jerusalem; there was no one to put them in their last resting-place.

⁴ We are looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and made sport of by those who are round us.

⁵ How long, O Lord? will you be angry for ever? will your wrath go on burning like fire?

⁶ Let your wrath be on the nations who have no knowledge of you, and on the kingdoms who have not made prayer to your name.

¹ Unto the end, for them that shall he changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm.

² Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth

³ Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasses. Stir up thy might, and come to save us.

⁴ Convert us, O God: and shew us thy face, and we shall be saved.

⁵ O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant?

⁶ How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure?

¹ A psalm of Asaph. God, heathen nations have invaded your land. They have defiled your holy Temple. They have turned Jerusalem into heaps of rubble.

² They have given the dead bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, the flesh of your faithful people to the beasts of the earth.

³ They have poured out the blood of Jerusalem's people like water all through the city; no one remains to bury the dead.

⁴ We have been made a mockery before our neighbors, ridiculed and laughed at by those around us.

⁵ How long, Lord? Will you be angry with us forever? Will your jealousy always burn like fire?

⁶ Pour out your anger on the heathen nations that don't know you, and on those kingdoms that don't worship you!

¹ A Psalme committed to Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy Temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem heapes of stones.

² The dead bodies of thy seruats haue they giuen to be meat vnto foules of ye heauen: and the flesh of thy Saintes vnto the beastes of the earth.

³ Their blood haue they shead like waters rounde about Ierusalem, and there was none to burie them.

⁴ Wee are a reproche to our neighbours, euen a scorne and derision vnto them that are round about vs.

⁵ Lord, howe long wilt thou be angrie, for euer? shall thy gelousie burne like fire?

⁶ Powre out thy wrath vpon the heathen that haue not knowen thee, and vpon the kingdomes that haue not called vpon thy Name.

³ They shedded out the blood of them, as water in the compass of Jerusalem; and none there was that buried them.

⁴ We be made a shame to our neighbours; mocking and scorning to them, that be in our compass.

⁵ Lord, how long shalt thou be wroth into the end? shall thy vengeance be kindled as fire?

⁶ Pour out thine ire into heathen men, that know not thee; and into realms, that called not thy name.

³ They shedded out the blood of them, as water in the compass of Jerusalem; and none there was that buried (them). (They poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem; and there was no one left to bury them.)

⁴ We be made (a) shame to our neighbours; mocking and scorning to them, that be in our compass. (We were made a reproach to our neighbours; mocked and scorned by those who be all around us.)

⁵ Lord, how long shalt thou be wroth into the end? shall thy vengeance be kindled as fire? (Lord, how long shalt thou be angry, forever? shall thy anger burn like fire?)

⁶ Pour out thine ire into heathen men, that know not thee; and into realms, that called not thy name. (Pour out thy anger upon the heathen, who know thee not; and upon the kingdoms, that have not called upon thy name.)

⁵ Till when, O Jehovah? art Thou angry for ever? Thy jealousy doth burn as fire.

⁶ Pour Thy fury on the nations who have not known Thee, And on kingdoms that have not called in Thy name.
