Psalms 73:17-20 in English

¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuary of God, And considered their latter end.

¹⁸ Surely thou settest them in slippery places: Thou castest them down to destruction.

¹⁹ How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh, So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image.

¹⁷ Thou hast made all the borders of the earth; thou hast made summer and spring.

¹⁸ Remember this thy creation: an enemy has reproached the Lord, and a foolish people has provoked thy name.

¹⁹ Deliver not to the wild beasts a soul that gives praise to thee: forget not for ever the souls of thy poor.

²⁰ Look upon thy covenant: for the dark places of the earth are filled with the habitations of iniquity.

¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

¹⁸ Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

¹⁹ They will be destroyed instantly; they will die in terrible ways.

²⁰ They will disappear as quickly as a dream disappears when a person awakes in the morning; Lord, when you arise, you will ◄cause them to disappear/forget all about them►.

¹⁷ Till I went into God's holy place, and saw the end of the evil-doers.

¹⁸ You put their feet where there was danger of slipping, so that they go down into destruction.

¹⁹ How suddenly are they wasted! fears are the cause of their destruction.

²⁰ As a dream when one is awake, they are ended; they are like an image gone out of mind when sleep is over.

¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuaries of God; then understood I their end.

¹⁸ Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them down in ruins.

¹⁹ How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.

²⁰ As a dream, when one awaketh, wilt thou, Lord, on arising despise their image.

¹⁷ Thou hast made all the borders of the earth: the summer and the spring were formed by thee.

¹⁸ Remember this, the enemy hath reproached the Lord: and a foolish people hath provoked thy name.

¹⁹ Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor.

²⁰ Have regard to thy covenant: for they that are the obscure of the earth have been filled with dwellings of iniquity.

¹⁷ until I went into God's Temple. Then I understood what happens to the wicked in the end.

¹⁸ For you send them on a slippery path; you throw them down to destruction.

¹⁹ How quickly they're destroyed! They come to a terrifying end.

²⁰ Like waking up from a dream, Lord—when you get up you will forget all about them!

¹⁷ Vntill I went into the Sanctuarie of God: then vnderstoode I their ende.

¹⁸ Surely thou hast set them in slipperie places, and castest them downe into desolation.

¹⁹ How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed,

²⁰ As a dreame when one awaketh! O Lord, when thou raisest vs vp, thou shalt make their image despised.

¹⁷ Until I entered into the sanctuary of God, and considered their end.

¹⁸ Surely Thou settest them in slippery places; Thou hurlest them down to utter ruin.

¹⁹ How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are wholly consumed by terrors.

²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh, so, O Lord, when Thou arousest Thyself, Thou wilt despise their semblance.

¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then understood I their end.

¹⁸ Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: Thou castedst them down into destruction.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh; So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

¹⁷ Until I enter into the sanctuary of God; and understand what their future will be.

¹⁸ Surely thou placest them on slippery spots: thou lettest them fall down into destruction.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they perish, they come to their end with terrific events.

²⁰ As a dream after awaking, O Lord, reject thou in wrath their image.

¹⁸ Yes, you set them on slippery places; down to destruction you hurl them.

¹⁹ One moment and then what a horror of ruin! They are finished and ended in terrors.

²⁰ Like a dream, when one wakes, shall they be, whose phantoms the waker despises.

¹⁷ till I entered the holy world of God and saw clearly their destiny.

¹⁸ Yes, you set them on slippery places; down to destruction you hurl them.

¹⁹ One moment and then what a horror of ruin! They are finished and ended in terrors.

²⁰ Like a dream, when one wakes, shall they be, whose phantoms the waker despises.

¹⁹ How they become a wilderness in a moment! They come to an end and are finished in awful terrors.

²⁰ They are like a dream after one wakes up; Lord, when you arise, you will think nothing of those dreams.

¹⁷ Till I enter into the saintuary of God; and understand in the last things of them.

¹⁸ Nevertheless for guiles or treach-eries thou hast put to them; thou castedest them down, while they were raised.

¹⁹ How be they made into desolation; they failed suddenly, they perished for their wickedness or waywardness.

²⁰ As the dream of men that rise; Lord, thou shalt drive their image to nought, in thy city.

¹⁷ Till I enter into the saintuary of God; and understand in the last things of them. (Until I entered into the sanctuary of God; and there I understood their last things, that is, their end.)

¹⁸ Nevertheless for guiles thou hast put to them; thou castedest them down, while they were raised. (For thou shalt put them in slippery places; thou shalt throw them down, after they be raised up.)

¹⁹ How be they made into desolation; they failed suddenly, they perished for their wickedness/for their waywardness. (How they shall go into desolation! they shall suddenly fail, and they shall perish for all their wickedness or for all their wayward ways.)

²⁰ As the dream of men that (a)rise; Lord, thou shalt drive their image to nought, in thy city. (Like a dream when one awaketh, and it vanisheth; so, Lord, thou shalt drive them down into nothing or until they completely disappear.)

¹⁷ Till I come in to the sanctuaries of God, I attend to their latter end.

¹⁸ Only, in slippery places Thou dost set them, Thou hast caused them to fall to desolations.

¹⁹ How have they become a desolation as in a moment, They have been ended — consumed from terrors.

²⁰ As a dream from awakening, O Lord, In awaking, their image Thou despisest.
