¹ A Psalm of Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, And thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

² He will judge thy people with righteousness, And thy poor with justice.

³ The mountains shall bring peace to the people, And the hills, in righteousness.

⁴ He will judge the poor of the people, He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor.

⁵ They shall fear thee while the sun endureth, And so long as the moon, throughout all generations.

⁶ He will come down like rain upon the mown grass, As showers that water the earth.

⁷ In his days shall the righteous flourish, And abundance of peace, till the moon be no more.

⁸ He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River unto the ends of the earth.

⁹ They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; And his enemies shall lick the dust.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall render tribute: The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

¹¹ Yea, all kings shall fall down before him; All nations shall serve him.

¹² For he will deliver the needy when he crieth, And the poor, that hath no helper.

¹³ He will have pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he will save.

¹⁴ He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his sight:

¹⁵ And they shall live; and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: And men shall pray for him continually; They shall bless him all the day long.

¹⁶ There shall be abundance of grain in the earth upon the top of the mountains; The fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: And they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

² But my feet were almost overthrown; my goings very nearly slipped.

³ For I was jealous of the transgressors, beholding the tranquillity of sinners.

⁴ For there is no sign of reluctance in their death: and they have firmness under their affliction.

⁵ They are not in the troubles of other men; and they shall not be scourged with other men.

⁶ Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness.

⁷ Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness: they have fulfilled their intention.

⁸ They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness: they have uttered unrighteousness loftily.

⁹ They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth.

¹⁰ Therefore shall my people return hither: and full days shall be found with them.

¹¹ And they said, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?

¹² Behold, these are the sinners, and they that prosper always: they have possessed wealth.

¹³ And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocency.

¹⁴ For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof was every morning.

¹⁵ If I said, I will speak thus; behold, I should have broken covenant with the generation of thy children.

¹⁶ And I undertook to understand this, but it is too hard for me,

¹ A psalm written by Solomon. O God, enable me, the king whom you appointed in Israel, to rule justly. Show/Teach me how to judge matters fairly

² in order that I will judge your people fairly, that I will govern your oppressed people justly.

³ I desire that all over the country—even on the hills and mountains DOU— people will live peacefully and righteously.

⁴ Help me, your king, to defend the poor people and to rescue needy people and to defeat those who oppress them.

⁵ I desire that your people will revere you as long as the moon shines, forever.

⁶ I desire that my rule will be enjoyed by the people SIM like they enjoy rain on growing crops, like they enjoy showers that fall on the land.

⁷ I hope/desire that people will live righteously during the years that I rule, and that my people will live peacefully and prosperously as long as the moon shines.

⁸ I hope/desire that the kings of Israel will rule the people in all the area from one sea in the east to another in the west, and from the Euphrates River to the most remote/distant places on earth.

⁹ I hope/desire that those who live in the desert will bow down before them, and that ttheir enemies will throw themselves on the ground in submission to them.

¹⁰ I hope/desire that the kings of Spain and of the islands in the Mediterranean Sea will bring ◄tribute money/taxes► to the kings of Israel, and that the kings of Sheba to the south and of Seba to the southwest will bring them gifts.

¹¹ I hope/desire that all the other kings in the world will bow before the kings of Israel, and that people of all nations will serve them.

¹² They will rescue poor people when they ◄cry out/plead► for help, and help those who are needy and those who have no one to help them.

¹³ They will pity those who are weak and needy; he saves the people's lives.

¹⁴ Our kings will rescue the people from being oppressed and from being treated cruelly, because ◄their lives/they► MTY are precious to our kings.

¹⁵ I hope/desire that our kings will live a long time! I hope/desire that they will be given gold from Sheba. I desire that people will always pray for our kings and praise them all the time, every day.

¹⁶ I hope/desire that the fields will produce plenty of grain everywhere, even on the tops of the hills in the land where they rule, like the grain that grows on the hills in Lebanon. I hope/desire that the cities in Israel will be full of people like the fields are full of grass.

⁴ May he be a judge of the poor among the people, may he give salvation to the children of those who are in need; by him let the violent be crushed.

⁵ May his life go on as long as the sun and moon, through all generations.

⁶ May he come down like rain on the cut grass; like showers watering the earth.

⁷ In his days may the upright do well, living in peace as long as there is a moon in heaven.

⁸ Let his kingdom be from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth.

⁹ Let those who are against him go down before him; and let his haters be low in the dust.

¹⁰ Let the kings of Tarshish and of the islands come back with offerings; let the kings of Sheba and Seba give of their stores.

¹¹ Yes, let all kings go down before him; let all nations be his servants.

¹² For he will be a saviour to the poor in answer to his cry; and to him who is in need, without a helper.

¹³ He will have pity on the poor, and be the saviour of those who are in need.

¹⁴ He will keep their souls free from evil designs and violent attacks; and their blood will be of value in his eyes.

¹⁵ May he have long life, and may gold from Sheba be given to him: may prayers be made for him at all times; may blessings be on him every day.

¹⁶ May there be wide-stretching fields of grain in the land, shaking on the top of the mountains, full of fruit like Lebanon: may its stems be unnumbered like the grass of the earth.

³ The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the hills, by righteousness.

⁴ He will do justice to the afflicted of the people; he will save the children of the needy, and will break in pieces the oppressor.

⁵ They shall fear thee as long as sun and moon endure, from generation to generation.

⁶ He shall come down like rain on the mown grass, as showers that water the earth.

⁷ In his days shall the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon be no more.

¹² For he will deliver the needy who crieth, and the afflicted, who hath no helper;

¹³ He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and will save the souls of the needy:

¹⁴ He will redeem their souls from oppression and violence, and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

¹⁵ And he shall live; and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba; and prayer shall be made for him continually: all the day shall he be blessed.

² But my feet were almost moved; my steps had well nigh slipped.

³ Because I had a zeal on occasion of the wicked, seeing the prosperity of sinners.

⁴ For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.

⁵ They are not in the labour of men: neither shall they be scourged like other men.

⁶ Therefore pride hath held them fast: they are covered with their iniquity and their wickedness.

⁷ Their iniquity hath come forth, as it were from fatness: they have passed into the affection of the heart.

⁸ They have thought and spoken wickedness: they have spoken iniquity on high.

⁹ They have set their mouth against heaven: and their tongue hath passed through the earth.

¹⁰ Therefore will my people return here and full days shall be found in them.

¹¹ And they said: How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

¹² Behold these are sinners; and yet abounding in the world they have obtained riches.

¹³ And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.

¹⁴ And I have been scourged all the day; and my chastisement hath been in the mornings.

¹⁵ If I said: I will speak thus; behold I should condemn the generation of thy children.

¹⁶ I studied that I might know this thing, it is a labour in my sight:

¹ A psalm of Solomon. God, please give the king fairness, and give the king's son the ability to do what's right.

² May he rightly judge your people, and may he be fair to the poor.

³ May the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills bring goodness.

⁴ May he defend the poor and save their children, may he crush those who oppress them.

⁵ May they respect him as long as the sun and the moon shine above, for all generations.

⁶ May his reign be like rain falling on new grass, like showers that water the earth.

⁷ May those who live right prosper under his rule; may there be great prosperity until the moon is no more.

⁸ May he rule from sea to sea, from the river to the ends of the earth.

⁹ Desert tribes will kneel before him; and his enemies will bite the dust.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and the islands will bring him tribute; the kings of Sheba and Seba will present him with gifts.

¹¹ Every king will bow down to him; every nation will serve him.

¹² He will help the poor when they cry out to him, and help those who are suffering that have no one to support them.

¹³ He has pity on the poor and needy—he saves their lives!

¹⁴ He rescues them from violence and oppression, for their lives mean so much to him.

¹⁵ May he live long! May the gold from Sheba be given to him. May people always pray for him and bless him all day long.

¹⁶ May there be plenty of grain in the land, even growing on mountain-tops. May the fruit on the trees sway like the trees of Lebanon. May the people in the city flourish like grass in a field.

² Then shall he iudge thy people in righteousnesse, and thy poore with equitie.

³ The mountaines and the hilles shall bring peace to the people by iustice.

⁴ He shall iudge the poore of the people: he shall saue the children of the needie, and shall subdue the oppressor.

⁵ They shall feare thee as long as the sunne and moone endureth, from generatio to generation.

⁶ He shall come downe like the rayne vpon the mowen grasse, and as the showres that water the earth.

⁷ In his dayes shall the righteous florish, and abundance of peace shalbe so long as the moone endureth.

⁸ His dominion shall be also from sea to sea, and from the Riuer vnto the endes of the land.

⁹ They that dwell in ye wildernes, shall kneele before him, and his enemies shall licke the dust.

¹⁰ The Kings of Tarshish and of the yles shall bring presents: the Kings of Sheba and Seba shall bring giftes.

¹¹ Yea, all Kings shall worship him: all nations shall serue him.

¹² For he shall deliuer the poore when he cryeth: the needie also, and him that hath no helper.

¹³ He shalbe mercifull to the poore and needie, and shall preserue the soules of the poore.

¹⁴ He shall redeeme their soules from deceite and violence, and deare shall their blood be in his sight.

¹⁵ Yea, he shall liue, and vnto him shall they giue of the golde of Sheba: they shall also pray for him continually, and dayly blesse him.

¹⁶ An handfull of corne shall be sowen in the earth, euen in the toppe of the mountaines, and the fruite thereof shall shake like the trees of Lebanon: and the children shall florish out of the citie like the grasse of the earth.
