Psalms 69:2-7 in English

² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

³ I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

⁴ They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: They that would cut me off, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: That which I took not away I have to restore.

⁵ O God, thou knowest my foolishness; And my sins are not hid from thee.

⁶ Let not them that wait for thee be put to shame through me, O Lord Jehovah of hosts: Let not those that seek thee be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel.

⁷ Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; Shame hath covered my face.

² Draw nigh, O God, to my help.

³ Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek my soul: let them be turned backward and put to shame, that wish me evil.

⁴ Let them that say to me, Aha, aha, be turned back and put to shame immediately.

⁵ Let all that seek thee exult and be glad in thee: and let those that love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

⁶ But I am poor and needy; O God, help me: thou art my helper and deliverer, O Lord, delay not.

² I continue to sink in the deep mud, and there is no solid ground for me to stand on. I am in deep water, and flood waters are swirling around me.

³ I am exhausted from calling out for help; my throat is very dry. Because I have cried so much as I have waited for God to help me, my eyes are swollen.

⁴ Those who hate me when there is no reason to hate me are more than the number of hairs on my head HYP! Those who want to get rid of me are strong, and they tell lies about me. They demand that I return to them things that I did not steal!

⁵ O God, ◄you see the sins that I have committed/my sins are not hidden from you►. You know that I have foolishly disobeyed your laws.

⁶ O Yahweh God, you who are the commander of the armies of heaven, do not allow the wrong things that I have done to cause those who trust in you to be disappointed/disillusioned. O God, you whom we Israeli people worship, do not allow me to cause your people to be humiliated.

⁷ People have insulted/ridiculed me because I am devoted to you. They have thoroughly humiliated IDM me.

² Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek my soul: let them be turned backward and put to shame, that wish me evil.

³ Let them that say to me, Aha, aha, be turned back and put to shame immediately.

³ I am tired with my crying; my throat is burning: my eyes are wasted with waiting for my God.

⁴ Those who have hate for me without cause are greater in number than the hairs of my head; those who are against me, falsely desiring my destruction, are very strong; I gave back what I had not taken away.

⁵ O God, you see how foolish I am; and my wrongdoing is clear to you.

⁶ Let not those who have hope in you be put to shame because of me, O Lord God of armies: let not those who are waiting for you be made low because of me, O God of Israel.

⁷ I have been wounded with sharp words because of you; my face has been covered with shame.

⁵ Thou, O God, knowest my foolishness, and my trespasses are not hidden from thee.

⁶ Let not them that wait on thee, Lord, Jehovah of hosts, be ashamed through me; let not those that seek thee be confounded through me, O God of Israel.

⁷ Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; confusion hath covered my face.

² O God, come to my assistance; O Lord, make haste to help me.

³ Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek my soul:

⁴ Let them be turned backward, and blush for shame that desire evils to me: Let them be presently turned away blushing for shame that say to me: Tis well, tis well.

⁵ Let all that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; and let such as love thy salvation say always: The Lord be magnified.

⁶ But I am needy and poor; O God, help me. Thou art my helper and my deliverer: O Lord, make no delay.

² I'm sinking deeper into the mud—there's no solid ground for me to stand. I find myself in deep water; floods wash over me.

³ I'm so tired of screaming out for help my throat is totally raw. My eyes are worn out looking for my God to help me.

⁴ Those who hate me for no reason are more than the number of hairs on my head. Many enemies try to destroy me by telling lies. How can I give back what I didn't steal?

⁵ God, you know how foolish I am! My sins are not hidden from you.

⁶ Don't let those who trust you be ashamed because of me, Lord God Almighty. Don't let those who follow you be disgraced because of me, God of Israel.

⁷ For your sake I put up with the insults; my face shows my embarrassment.

² I sticke fast in the deepe myre, where no staie is: I am come into deepe waters, and the streames runne ouer me.

³ I am wearie of crying: my throte is drie: mine eyes faile, whiles I waite for my God.

⁴ They that hate mee without a cause, are moe then the heares of mine heade: they that would destroy mee, and are mine enemies falsly, are mightie, so that I restored that which I tooke not.

⁵ O God, thou knowest my foolishnesse, and my fautes are not hid from thee.

⁶ Let not them that trust in thee, O Lord God of hostes, be ashamed for me: let not those that seeke thee, be confounded through mee, O God of Israel.

⁷ For thy sake haue I suffred reproofe: shame hath couered my face.

² (69-3) I am sunk in deep mire, where there is no standing; I am come into deep waters, and the flood overwhelmeth me.

³ (69-4) I am weary of my crying; my throat is dried; mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

⁴ (69-5) They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they that would cut me off, being mine enemies wrongfully, are many; should I restore that which I took not away?

⁵ (69-6) O God, Thou knowest my folly; and my trespasses are not hid from Thee.

⁶ (69-7) Let not them that wait for Thee be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those that seek Thee be brought to confusion through me, O God of Israel.

⁷ (69-8) Because for Thy sake I have borne reproach; confusion hath covered my face.

² (69:3) I am sunk in the mire of the deep, where there is no standing; I am come into the depths of the waters, and the flood overfloweth me.

³ (69:4) I am weary of my calling; my throat is hoarse; my eyes fail, while I hope for my God.

⁴ (69:5) More than the hairs of my head are those that hate me without a cause; numerous are those that would destroy me, that are my enemies wrongfully: what I have not robbed shall I now restore.

⁵ (69:6) O God, thou art well aware of my folly, and my guilty deeds are from thee not hidden.

⁶ (69:7) Let not those that wait on thee, O Lord Eternal of hosts, be made ashamed through me: let not those that seek thee be confounded through me, O God of Israel.

⁷ (69:8) Because for thy sake have I borne reproach, hath confusion covered my face.

⁷ For on account of thee do I suffer reproach, And shame covereth my face!

³ I travailed crying, my cheeks were made hoarse; mine eyes failed, the while I hope/d into my God.

⁴ They that hated me without cause; were multiplied above the hairs of mine head. Mine enemies that pursued me unjustly were comforted; I paid then for those things, which I ravished not.

⁵ God, thou knowest mine unknow-ing; and my trespasses be not hid from thee.

⁶ Lord, Lord of virtues; they, that abide thee, be not ashamed in me. God of Israel; they, that seek thee, be not shamed on me.

⁷ For I suffered shame for thee; shame covered my face.

² I am set in the slime of the depth; and there is no substance. I came into the depth of the sea; and the tempest drenched me down. (I am sinking in the slime of the depth; and there is no firm ground beneath me. I came into the depth of the sea; for the tempest hath drowned me.)

³ I travailed crying, my cheeks were made hoarse; mine eyes failed, the while I hope/d into my God. (I am made weary from crying, my voice is made hoarse; my eyes have failed, yet all the while I have hope/d in my God.)

⁴ They that hated me without cause; were multiplied above the hairs of mine head. Mine enemies that pursued me unjustly were comforted; I paid then (for) those things, which I ravished not. (They who hated me for no reason, were greater in number than the hairs of my head. My enemies who unjustly persecuted me were strong; and I was forced to pay for what I did not steal.)

⁵ God, thou knowest mine unknowing, (or God, thou knowest my foolishness, or my ignorance); and my trespasses be not hid from thee.

⁶ Lord, Lord of virtues; they, that abide thee, be not ashamed in me. God of Israel; they, that seek thee, be not shamed on me. (Lord, Lord of hosts; let they, who wait for thee, be not shamed by me. God of Israel; let they, who seek thee, be not shamed by me.)

⁷ For I suffered shame for thee; shame covered my face.

² I have sunk in deep mire, And there is no standing, I have come into the depths of the waters, And a flood hath overflown me.

³ I have been wearied with my calling, Burnt hath been my throat, Consumed have been mine eyes, waiting for my God.

⁴ Those hating me without cause Have been more than the hairs of my head, Mighty have been my destroyers, My lying enemies, That which I took not away — I bring back.

⁵ O God, Thou — Thou hast known Concerning my overturn, And my desolations from Thee have not been hid.

⁶ Let not those waiting on Thee be ashamed because of me, O Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Let not those seeking Thee Blush because of me, O God of Israel.
