Psalms 68:1-12 in American Standard Version (1901)

1 For the Chief Musician; A Psalm of David, a Song. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; Let them also that hate him flee before him.
2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: As wax melteth before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God: Yea, let them rejoice with gladness.
4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: Cast up a highway for him that rideth through the deserts; His name is Jehovah; and exult ye before him.
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation.
6 God setteth the solitary in families: He bringeth out the prisoners into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
7 O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, When thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah
8 The earth trembled, The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God: Yon Sinai trembled at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, Thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
10 Thy congregation dwelt therein: Thou, O God, didst prepare of thy goodness for the poor.
11 The Lord giveth the word: The women that publish the tidings are a great host.
12 Kings of armies flee, they flee; And she that tarrieth at home divideth the spoil.

Psalms 68:1-12 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

1 For the end, a Psalm of David, for alternate strains.
2 Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul.
3 I am stuck fast in deep mire, and there is no standing: I am come in to the depths of the sea, and a storm has overwhelmed me.
4 I am weary of crying, my throat has become hoarse; mine eyes have failed by my waiting on my God.
5 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: my enemies that persecute me unrighteously are strengthened: then I restored that which I took not away.
6 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my transgressions are not hidden from thee.
7 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord of hosts, be ashamed on my account: let not them that seek thee, be ashamed on my account, O God of Israel.
8 For I have suffered reproach for thy sake; shame has covered my face.
9 I became strange to my brethren, and a stranger to my mother's children.
10 For the zeal of thine house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
11 And I bowed down my soul with fasting, and that was made my reproach.
12 And I put on sackcloth for my covering; and I became a proverb to them.

Psalms 68:1-12 in Translation for Translators

1 God, arise and scatter your enemies, and cause those who hate you to run away from you.
2 Like wind blows smoke away, chase your enemies away. Like wax melts when it is near a fire, cause wicked people to ◄disappear/be destroyed►.
3 But righteous people should be joyful; they should rejoice when they are in God's presence; they should be happy, and be very joyful.
4 Sing to God; sing to praise him; sing a song (OR, make a road) for him who rides on the clouds; his name is Yahweh; be glad when you are in his presence.
5 God, who lives in his sacred temple, is like MET a father to those who are orphans, and he is the one who protects widows.
6 For those who have no one to live with, he provides families to live with. He frees prisoners and enables them to be successful, but those who rebel against him will be forced to live in a very hot and dry land.
7 God, you led your people out of Egypt, and then you marched with them through the desert.
8 After you did that, because when you, the God worshiped by us Israeli people, appeared to us at Sinai Mountain,, the earth shook, and rain poured down from the sky.
9 You caused plenty of rain to fall on your land*, and so you enabled good crops to grow again on the land that you gave to us Israelis.
10 Your people built homes there; and because you were good to them, you provided food for those who were poor.
11 The Lord gave a message, and many women took that message to other places.
12 They proclaimed, “Many kings and their armies are running away from our army!” When our army brought back to their homes the things that they captured, the women who were at home divided up those things among themselves and among their families.

1 To the chief music-maker. Of David. A Psalm. A Song. Let God be seen, and let his haters be put to flight; let those who are against him be turned back before him.
2 Let them be like smoke before the driving wind; as wax turning soft before the fire, so let them come to an end before the power of God.
3 But let the upright be glad; let them have delight before God; let them be full of joy.
4 Make songs to God, make songs of praise to his name; make a way for him who comes through the waste lands; his name is Jah; be glad before him.
5 A father to those who have no father, a judge of the widows, is God in his holy place.
6 Those who are without friends, God puts in families; he makes free those who are in chains; but those who are turned away from him are given a dry land.
7 O God, when you went out before your people, wandering through the waste land; (Selah.)
8 The earth was shaking and the heavens were streaming, because God was present; even Sinai itself was moved before God, the God of Israel.
9 You, O God, did freely send the rain, giving strength to the weariness of your heritage.
10 Those whose resting-place was there, even the poor, were comforted by your good things, O God.
11 The Lord gives the word; great is the number of the women who make it public.
12 Kings of armies quickly go in flight: and the women in the houses make a division of their goods.

Psalms 68:1-12 in Douay-Rheims 1899

1 Unto the end, for them that shall be changed; for David.
2 SAVE me, O God: for the waters are come in even unto my soul.
3 I stick fast in the mire of the deep: and there is no sure standing. I am come into the depth of the sea: and a tempest hath overwhelmed me.
4 I have laboured with crying; my jaws are become hoarse: my eyes have failed, whilst I hope in my God.
5 They are multiplied above the hairs of my head, who hate me without cause. My enemies are grown strong who have wrongfully persecuted me: then did I pay that which I took not away.
6 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my offences are not hidden from thee:
7 Let not them be ashamed for me, who look for thee, O Lord, the Lord of hosts. Let them not be confounded on my account, who seek thee, O God of Israel.
8 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
9 I am become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to the sons of my mother.
10 For the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up: and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
11 And I covered my soul in fasting: and it was made a reproach to me.
12 And I made haircloth my garment: and I became a byword to them.

Psalms 68:1-12 in Free Bible Version

1 For the music director. A psalm of David. A song. Stand up, God, and scatter your enemies. Let those who hate him run away from him!
2 Blow them away as if they were smoke; melt them like beeswax in a fire. Let the wicked die in God's presence.
3 But those who are right with God are happy, and they celebrate in God's presence, full of joy.
4 Sing praises to God! Sing praises to his wonderful reputation! Praise the rider of the clouds—his name is the Lord! Be happy in his presence!
5 He is a father to the orphans, a protector of widows. This is who God is, who lives in his holy place.
6 God gives those who are abandoned a family to live with. He sets prisoners free with celebration. But those who rebel live in a desert wasteland.
7 God, when you led your people out, when you marched through the desert, Selah,
8 the earth quaked, and the heavens shook before God, the one of Sinai; before God, the God of Israel.
9 You sent plenty of rain to water the promised land; refreshing it when it was dry.
10 Your people settled there, and because of your kindness, God, you looked after the poor. Selah.
11 The Lord gives the command, and a great army of women spread the good news.
12 The kings of the foreign armies are quick to run away, and the women who stayed at home divide the plunder!

2 As smoke faileth, fail they; as wax floateth or floweth from the face of fire, so perish the sinners from the face of God.
3 And just or rightwise men eat, and make they fully joy or full out glad they in the sight of God; and delight they in gladness.
4 Sing ye to God, say ye psalm to his name; make ye a way to him, that ascendeth or goeth up on the going down, the Lord is name of him. Make ye fully joy or Full out joyeth in his sight, his enemies shall be troubled from the face of him,
5 which is the father of fatherless and motherless children; and the judge of widows. God is in his holy place;
6 God that maketh men of one will to dwell in the house. Which leadeth out by strength them that be bound; in like manner them that make sharp or that stir, that dwell in sepulchres.
7 God, when thou wentest out in the sight of thy people; when thou passedest forth in the desert.
8 The earth was moved, for heavens dropped down from the face of God of Sinai; from the face of God of Israel.
9 God, thou shalt impart willful rain to thine heritage, and it was sick; but thou madest it perfect.
10 Thy beasts shall dwell therein; God, thou hast made ready in thy sweetness to the poor man.
11 The Lord shall give a word; to them that preach the gospel with much virtue.
12 The kings of virtues be made loved of the darling; and to the fair-ness of the house to part spoils.

2 As smoke faileth, fail they; as wax floateth (away) from the face of fire, so perish the sinners from the face of God. (Like smoke vanisheth, so let them vanish; like wax melteth in the fire, so let the sinners perish in the presence of God.)
3 And just men eat, and make they fully joy in the sight of God; and delight they in gladness. (But the righteous be glad, and make full out joy, or rejoice, before God; yea, delight they, and be glad.)
4 Sing ye to God, say ye psalm to his name; make ye a way to him, that ascendeth on the going down, the Lord is name of him. Make ye fully joy in his sight, (his) enemies shall be troubled from the face of him, (Sing ye to God, sing ye a song to his name; make ye a way for him, who rideth over the plains of the desert or who rideth upon the clouds, yea, the Lord is his name. Make ye full out joy, or rejoice, before him, but his enemies shall be troubled before him,)
5 which is the father of fatherless and motherless children; and the judge of widows, (or who is the father of the fatherless and the motherless; and the judge of widows). God is in his holy place;
6 God that maketh men of one will to dwell in the house. Which leadeth out by strength them that be bound; in like manner them that make sharp, that dwell in sepulchres. (yea, God who helpeth people to come and live in a house with others. And who leadeth out those who be bound into freedom; but they who rebel shall live in a dry land.)
7 God, when thou wentest out in the sight of thy people; when thou passedest forth in the desert. (God, when thou wentest out before thy people; yea, when thou wentest forth in the wilderness,)
8 The earth was moved, for heavens dropped down from the face of God of Sinai; from the face of God of Israel. (the earth shook, and the heavens dropped down rain or and the heavens quaked, before the God of Sinai; yea, before the God of Israel.)
9 God, thou shalt (im)part willful rain to thine heritage, and it was sick; but thou madest it perfect. (God, thou imparted abundant rain upon the land of thy inheritance; it was enfeebled, or dry, but thou madest it perfect.)
10 Thy beasts shall dwell therein; God, thou hast made ready in thy sweetness to the poor man. (And thy people shall live there; God, in thy goodness, thou hast prepared it for the poor.)
11 The Lord shall give a word; to them that preach the gospel with much virtue. (The Lord gave the word; and many women preached this good news.)
12 The kings of virtues be made loved of the darling; and to the fairness of the house to part spoils. (The kings and their hosts, or their armies, fled away; and she of the house parted the spoils.)
