² Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, From the tumult of the workers of iniquity;

³ Who have whet their tongue like a sword, And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

⁴ That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil purpose; They commune of laying snares privily; They say, Who will see them?

⁶ They search out iniquities; We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search: And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

² Praise becomes thee, O God, in Sion; and to thee shall the vow be performed.

³ Hear my prayer; to thee all flesh shall come.

⁴ The words of transgressors have overpowered us; but do thou pardon our sins.

⁵ Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and adopted; he shall dwell in thy courts; we shall be filled with the good things of thy house; thy temple is holy.

⁶ Thou art wonderful in righteousness. Hearken to us, O God our Saviour; the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are on the sea afar off:

² Protect me from what wicked men are planning to do to me; protect me from that gang of men who do what is evil.

³ The hostile things they say MTY are like SIM sharp swords; their cruel words are like SIM arrows.

⁴ Without being afraid, they lie about people and slander people who have not done what is wrong, like someone who suddenly jumps up from where he is hiding and shoots arrows at his enemy MET.

⁵ They encourage each other about doing the evil things that they are planning to do; they talk with each other about where they can set traps to catch people, and they think, “No one RHQ will see what we are doing,

⁶ because we have planned very well the crime that we are going to commit!” No one can fully understand what people can think and plan!

² Keep me safe from the secret purpose of wrongdoers; from the band of the workers of evil;

³ Who make their tongues sharp like a sword, and whose arrows are pointed, even bitter words;

⁴ So that in secret they may let loose their arrows at the upright, suddenly and unseen.

⁵ They make themselves strong in an evil purpose; they make holes for secret nets; they say, Who will see it,

⁶ Or make discovery of our secret purpose? The design is framed with care; and the inner thought of a man, and his heart, is deep.

² Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, from the tumultuous crowd of the workers of iniquity,

³ Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, and have aimed their arrow, a bitter word;

⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter, they concert to hide snares; they say, Who will see them?

⁶ They devise iniquities: We have it ready, the plan is diligently sought out. And each one's inward thought and heart is deep.

² A Hymn, O God, becometh thee in Sion: and a vow shall be paid to thee in Jerusalem.

³ O hear my prayer: all flesh shall come to thee.

⁴ The words of the wicked have prevailed over us: and thou wilt pardon our transgressions.

⁵ Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and taken to thee: he shall dwell in thy courts. We shall be filled with the good things of thy house; holy is thy temple,

⁶ Wonderful in justice. Hear us, O God our saviour, who art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and in the sea afar off.

² Shelter me from the plots of the wicked, from this evil mob.

³ What they say cuts like swords; they fire off poisonous words like arrows.

⁴ They shoot from their hiding places at innocent people—doing this without warning, not afraid of being caught.

⁵ They encourage one another to do evil, planning how to secretly trap people, telling themselves, “Nobody will notice.”

⁶ They plot wicked things. “What a great plan we've created!” they say. There are no limits to the depths to which human minds and thoughts can sink.

² Hide me from the conspiracie of the wicked, and from the rage of the workers of iniquitie.

³ Which haue whette their tongue like a sword, and shot for their arrowes bitter wordes.

⁴ To shoote at the vpright in secrete: they shoote at him suddenly, and feare not.

⁵ They encourage themselues in a wicked purpose: they commune together to lay snares priuilie, and say, Who shall see them?

⁶ They haue sought out iniquities, and haue accomplished that which they sought out, euen euery one his secret thoughtes, and the depth of his heart.

³ (64-4) Who have whet their tongue like a sword, and have aimed their arrow, a poisoned word;

⁴ (64-5) That they may shoot in secret places at the blameless; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

⁵ (64-6) They encourage one another in an evil matter; they converse of laying snares secretly; they ask, who would see them.

⁶ (64-7) They search out iniquities, they have accomplished a diligent search; even in the inward thought of every one, and the deep heart.

⁴ (64:5) To shoot in secret at the innocent; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

⁵ (64:6) They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they tell secretly of laying snares: they say, Who will see them?

⁶ (64:7) They search out iniquities; “We are ready with the carefully searched out device:” and the inward thought and heart of each is deeply hidden.

⁵ They prepare themselves for an evil deed; They commune of laying secret snares: “Who,” say they, “will see them?”

⁶ They meditate crimes: “We have finished,” say they, “our plans!” The heart and bosom of every one of them are deep.

² Hide me from villains who secretly plot, from the blustering throng of the workers of evil,

³ who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, and aimed bitter words like arrows,

⁴ which from ambush they launch at the blameless, shooting swiftly and unafraid.

⁵ They strengthen their wicked purpose, they tell of the snares they have hidden, they say to themselves, “Who can see?”

⁶ They think out their crimes full cunningly hidden deep in their crafty hearts.

² Hide me from villains who secretly plot, from the blustering throng of the workers of evil,

³ who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, and aimed bitter words like arrows,

³ They have sharpened their tongues like swords; they have aimed their arrows, bitter words,

⁴ so that they may shoot from secret places at someone who is innocent; suddenly they shoot at him and fear nothing.

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they consult privately together in order to set traps; they say, “Who will see us?”

⁶ They invent sinful plans; “We have finished,” they say, “a careful plan.” The inner thoughts and hearts of man are deep.

² Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the noisy crowd of the ones doing evil;

³ who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and aim their arrows, deadly words,

⁴ to shoot innocent men from ambushes. They shoot at him suddenly and fearlessly.

² Thou hast defended me from the covent or convent of evil-doers; from the multitude of them that work wickedness.

³ For they sharpened their tongues as a sword, they bend their bow, a bitter thing;

⁴ for to shoot in huddles, or privates, him that is unwemmed. Suddenly they shall shoot him, and they shall not dread;

⁵ they made steadfast to themselves a wicked word. They told, that they should hide snares; they said, Who shall see them?

⁶ They sought wickednesses; they sought, and failed not in seeking. A man nighed to a deep heart;

² Thou hast defended me from the covent of evil-doers; from the multitude of them that work wickedness. (Thou hast protected me from the plots of the evil-doers; yea, from the many who do evil.)

³ For they sharpened their tongues as a sword, they bend their bow, a bitter thing; (For they sharpened their tongues like swords, yea, they bent their bows, and shot out bitter words;)

⁴ for to shoot in huddles, or privates, him that is unwemmed. Suddenly they shall shoot him, and they shall not dread; (to secretly attack he who is without blemish, or without fault. Suddenly they shall shoot at him, and they shall not fear;)

⁵ they made steadfast to themselves a wicked word. They told, that they should hide snares; they said, Who shall see them? (for they encouraged each other in their evil plots. And they told one another to hide their snares; even though they also said, But who shall see them?)

⁶ They sought wickednesses; they sought, and failed (not) in seeking. A man nighed to a deep heart; (They sought out wickednesses; yea, they sought them out, and failed not in finding them, for their hearts be dark and deep.)

² Hidest me from the secret counsel of evil doers, From the tumult of workers of iniquity.

³ Who sharpened as a sword their tongue, They directed their arrow — a bitter word.

⁴ To shoot in secret places the perfect, Suddenly they shoot him, and fear not.

⁵ They strengthen for themselves an evil thing, They recount of the hiding of snares, They have said, 'Who doth look at it?'

⁶ They search out perverse things, 'We perfected a searching search,' And the inward part of man, and the heart are deep.
