Psalms 63:1-5 in English

¹ A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, In a dry and weary land, where no water is.

² So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, To see thy power and thy glory.

³ Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee.

⁴ So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David.

² Hear my prayer, O God, when I make my petition to thee; deliver my soul from fear of the enemy.

³ Thou hast sheltered me from the conspiracy of them that do wickedly; from the multitude of them that work iniquity;

⁴ who have sharpened their tongues as a sword; they have bent their bow maliciously;

⁵ to shoot in secret at the blameless; they will shoot him suddenly, and will not fear.

⁵ They have set up for themselves an evil matter, they have given counsel to hide snares; they have said, Who shall see them?

² So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, to see thy power and thy glory.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

¹ God, you are the God whom I worship. I greatly desire to be with you like SIL a person in a dry hot desert greatly desires some cool water.

² So, I want to see you in your temple; I want to see that you are great and glorious.

³ Your constantly loving me is ◄worth more/more precious► than my life, so I MTY will always praise you.

⁴ I will praise you all the time that I live; I will lift up my hands to you while I pray.

⁵ Knowing you satisfies me more than IDM, MET my eating a very big feast, so I will praise you while I sing MTY joyful songs.

² To see your power and your glory, as I have seen you in the holy place.

³ Because your mercy is better than life, my lips will give you praise.

⁴ So will I go on blessing you all my life, lifting up my hands in your name.

⁵ My soul will be comforted, as with good food; and my mouth will give you praise with songs of joy;

¹ A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh languisheth for thee, in a dry and weary land without water:

² To see thy power and thy glory, as I have beheld thee in the sanctuary;

³ For thy loving-kindness is better than life: my lips shall praise thee.

⁴ So will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name.

⁵ My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.

¹ Unto the end, a psalm for David.

² Hear, O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee: deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy.

³ Thou hast protected me from the assembly of the malignant; from the multitude of the workers of iniquity.

⁴ For they have whetted their tongues like a sword; they have bent their bow a bitter thing,

⁵ To shoot in secret the undefiled.

¹ A psalm of David, when he was in the Judean desert. God, you are my God, I eagerly look for you. I am thirsty for you; all that I am longs for you in this dry, weary, waterless land.

² I see you in the Temple; I watch your power and glory.

³ Your trustworthy love is better than life itself; I will praise you.

⁴ I will thank you as long as I live; I lift up my hands as I celebrate your wonderful character.

⁵ You satisfy me more than the richest food; I will praise you with joyful songs.

¹ A Psalme of David. When he was in the wildernesse of Judah. O God, thou art my God, earely will I seeke thee: my soule thirsteth for thee: my flesh longeth greatly after thee in a barren and drye land without water.

² Thus I beholde thee as in the Sanctuarie, when I beholde thy power and thy glorie.

³ For thy louing kindnesse is better then life: therefore my lippes shall prayse thee.

⁴ Thus will I magnifie thee all my life, and lift vp mine hands in thy name.

⁵ My soule shalbe satisfied, as with marowe and fatnesse, and my mouth shall praise thee with ioyfull lippes,

² (63-3) So have I looked for Thee in the sanctuary, to see Thy power and Thy glory.

³ (63-4) For Thy lovingkindness is better than life; my lips shall praise Thee.

⁴ (63-5) So will I bless Thee as long as I live; in Thy name will I lift up my hands.

⁵ (63-6) My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth doth praise Thee with joyful lips;

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

¹ “A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.” (63:2) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry land, and it is faint without water.

² (63:3) As I have beheld thee in the sanctuary, seeing thy strength and thy glory;

³ (63:4) Because thy kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee:

⁴ (63:5) Thus will I bless thee while I live; in thy name will I lift up my hands.

⁵ (63:6) As with fat and marrow will my soul be satisfied; and with tuneful lips shall my mouth praise thee.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And with joyful lips my mouth shall praise thee,

¹ A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, my God, you, you do I seek: my heart thirsts for you, my body faints for you in a parched and waterless land.

² As I in the temple have seen you, beholding your power and your glory,

³ for better than life is your kindness: my lips shall utter your praise.

⁴ So, while I live, I will bless you, and lift up my hands in your name.

⁵ As with marrow and fat am I feasted; with joyful lips I will praise you.

¹ A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. God, you are my God! I earnestly search for you, my soul thirsts for you, and my flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

² So I have looked on you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory.

³ Because your covenant faithfulness is better than life, my lips will praise you.

⁴ So I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.

⁵ It will be as if I ate a meal of marrow and fatness; with joyful lips my mouth will praise you,

¹ The psalm of David, when he was in the desert of Judah. God, my God, I wake to thee full early. My soul thirsted to thee; my flesh thirsted to thee full manyfold. In a land forsaken without way, and without water,

² so I appeared to thee in holy; that I should see thy virtue, and thy glory.

³ For thy mercy is better than lives or life itself; my lips shall praise thee.

⁴ So I shall bless thee in my life; and in thy name I shall raise mine hands.

⁵ My soul be ful filled as with inner fatness and uttermore fatness; and my mouth shall praise with lips of full out joying.

¹ The psalm of David, when he was in the desert of Judah. God, my God, I wake to thee full early. My soul thirsted to thee; my flesh thirsted to thee full manyfold. In a land forsaken without way, and without water, (A song by David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. God, my God, I wake up early, and I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee; my flesh greatly thirsteth for thee. Here in a desert/ed land, without a way, and without water.)

² so I appeared to thee in holy; that I should see thy virtue, and thy glory. (So I came to thee in the holy place; so that I could see thy strength, and thy glory.)

³ For thy mercy is better than lives (or For thy love is better than living or is better than life itself); my lips shall praise thee.

⁴ So I shall bless thee in my life; and in thy name I shall raise mine hands. (So I shall bless thee all my life; and in thy name I shall raise up my hands.)

⁵ My soul be ful filled as with inner fatness and uttermore fatness; and my mouth shall praise with lips of full out joying (or and my mouth shall praise thee with lips of rejoicing).

¹ A Psalm of David, in his being in the wilderness of Judah. O God, Thou art my God, earnestly do I seek Thee, Thirsted for Thee hath my soul, Longed for Thee hath my flesh, In a land dry and weary, without waters.

² So in the sanctuary I have seen Thee, To behold Thy strength and Thine honour.

³ Because better is Thy kindness than life, My lips do praise Thee.

⁴ So I bless Thee in my life, in Thy name I lift up my hands.

⁵ As with milk and fatness is my soul satisfied, And with singing lips doth my mouth praise.
