Psalms 57:2-6 in English

² I will cry unto God Most High, Unto God that performeth all things for me.

³ He will send from heaven, and save me, When he that would swallow me up reproacheth; Selah God will send forth his lovingkindness and his truth.

⁴ My soul is among lions; I lie among them that are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.

⁵ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth.

⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down: They have digged a pit before me; They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves. Selah

² If ye do indeed speak righteousness, then do ye judge rightly, ye sons of men.

³ For ye work iniquities in your hearts in the earth: your hands plot unrighteousness.

⁴ Sinners have gone astray from the womb: they go astray from the belly: they speak lies.

⁵ Their venom is like that of a serpent; as that of a deaf asp, and that stops her ears;

⁶ which will not hear the voice of charmers, nor heed the charm prepared skilfully by the wise.

² God, you who are greater than all other gods, I cry out to you, the one who enables me to do all that you desire.

³ You will answer me from heaven and rescue me, but you will cause those who oppress me to be defeated and disgraced! (Think about that!) God will always faithfully love me and ◄will be faithful/will do what he promises►.

⁴ Sometimes I am surrounded by my enemies who are like lions that kill humans; they are like lions that chew with their teeth animals that they kill; but my enemies have spears and arrows, not teeth; and the false things that they say MTY hurt people as much as sharp swords hurt people MET.

⁵ God, show in the heavens that you are very great! And show your glory to people all over the earth!

⁶ It is as if MET, HYP my enemies spread a net to seize me, and I became very distressed IDM. It is as if MET, HYP they dug a deep pit along the path where I walk, but they themselves fell into it!

³ He will send from heaven, and take me from the power of him whose desire is for my destruction. God will send out his mercy and his good faith.

⁴ My soul is among lions; I am stretched out among those who are on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and whose tongue is a sharp sword.

⁵ O God, be lifted up higher than the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

⁶ They have made ready a net for my steps; my soul is bent down; they have made a great hole before me, and have gone down into it themselves. (Selah.)

⁴ My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down among them that breathe out flames, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁵ Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!

⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down: they have digged a pit before me; they are fallen into the midst thereof. Selah.

² If in very deed you speak justice: judge right things, ye sons of men.

³ For in your heart you work iniquity: your hands forge injustice in the earth.

⁴ The wicked are alienated from the womb; they have gone astray from the womb: they have spoken false things.

⁵ Their madness is according to the likeness of a serpent: like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ears:

⁶ Which will not hear the voice of the charmers; nor of the wizard that charmeth wisely.

² I cry out for help to God Most High, to God who vindicates me.

³ From heaven he sends his help, and he saves me. He defeats those who persecute me. Selah. God sends me his unfailing love, showing he is completely trustworthy.

⁴ I am surrounded by man-eating lions—I am forced to live with them! Their teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongues are swords.

⁵ God, your greatness is above the highest heavens; and your glory covers the whole earth!

⁶ They set a trap to catch me. I was so depressed. They dug a pit on my path but they were the ones who fell into it. Selah.

² I will call vnto the most high God, euen to the God, that performeth his promise toward me.

³ He will send from heauen, and saue me from the reproofe of him that would swallowe me. Selah. God wil send his mercy, and his trueth.

⁴ My soule is among lions: I lie among the children of men, that are set on fire: whose teeth are speares and arrowes, and their tongue a sharpe sworde.

⁵ Exalt thy selfe, O God, aboue the heauen, and let thy glory be vpon all the earth.

⁶ They haue layd a net for my steps: my soule is pressed downe: they haue digged a pit before me, and are fallen into the mids of it. Selah.

⁴ (57:5) My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down in the midst of those that send out flames, those sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and whose tongue is a sharpened sword.

⁵ (57:6) Be thou exalted above the heavens, O God: above all the earth let thy glory be.

⁶ (57:7) A net have they prepared for my steps; my soul hath been bent down; they have dug before me a pit; they are fallen into the midst thereof. Selah.

⁵ Exalt thyself, O God! above the heavens, And thy glory above all the earth!

⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They have digged a pit before me, But into it they have themselves fallen.

³ He will send me his succour from heaven, he will thrust away those who would trample me. Selah

⁴ and delivered my soul from the midst of whelps of lions; I slept troubled or disturbed. The sons of men, the teeth of them be armours or arms and arrows; and their tongue is a sharp sword.

⁵ God, be thou enhanced above heavens; and thy glory above all earth.

⁶ They made ready a snare to my feet; and they greatly bowed my life. They delved a ditch before my face; and they felled or fell down into it.

² I shall cry to God alder-highest; to God that did well to me. (I shall cry to the Most High God; to God who did so much good for me.)

³ He sent from heaven, and delivered me; he gave into shame them that defoul me. God sent his mercy and his truth, (He sent from heaven, and saved me; he shamed those who persecute me. God showed his love and his faithfulness,)

⁴ and delivered my soul from the midst of whelps of lions; I slept troubled, or disturbed. The sons of men, the teeth of them be armours and arrows; and their tongue is a sharp sword. (and saved me from the midst of those ravenous lions. Yea, those sons of men, whose teeth be like arms, or spears, and arrows; and whose tongues be like sharp swords.)

⁵ God, be thou enhanced above heavens; and thy glory above all earth. (God, be thou exalted above the heavens; and thy glory above all the earth.)

⁶ They made ready a snare to my feet; and they greatly bowed my life. They delved a ditch before my face; and they felled down into it. (They prepared a snare for my feet; and they greatly bowed down my life. They dug a ditch before me; but they themselves fell down into it.)

² I call to God Most High, To God who is perfecting for me.

³ He sendeth from the heaven, and saveth me, He reproached — who is panting after me. Selah. God sendeth forth His kindness and His truth.

⁴ My soul is in the midst of lions, I lie down among flames — sons of men, Their teeth are a spear and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.

⁵ Be Thou exalted above the heavens, O God, Above all the earth Thine honour.

⁶ A net they have prepared for my steps, Bowed down hath my soul, They have digged before me a pit, They have fallen into its midst. Selah.
