Psalms 56:5-12 in English

⁵ All the day long they wrest my words: All their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, They mark my steps, Even as they have waited for my soul.

⁷ Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, O God.

⁸ Thou numberest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle; Are they not in thy book?

⁹ Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: This I know, that God is for me.

¹⁰ In God (I will praise his word), In Jehovah (I will praise his word),

¹¹ In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; What can man do unto me?

¹² Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank-offerings unto thee.

⁵ and he has delivered my soul from the midst of lions' whelps: I lay down to sleep, though troubled. As for the sons of men, their teeth are arms and missile weapons, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁶ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; and thy glory above all the earth.

⁷ They have prepared snares for my feet, and have bowed down my soul: they have dug a pit before my face, and fallen into it themselves. Pause.

⁸ My heart, O God, is ready, my heart is ready: I will sing, yea will sing psalms.

⁹ Awake, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I will awake early.

¹⁰ O Lord, I will give thanks to thee among the nations: I will sing to thee among the Gentiles.

¹¹ For thy mercy has been magnified even to the heavens, and thy truth to the clouds.

¹² Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; and thy glory above all the earth.

⁵ All day long my enemies claim that I said things that I did not say (OR, try to destroy what I am doing); they are always thinking of ways to harm me.

⁶ In order to cause trouble for me, they hide and watch everything that I do, waiting for an opportunity to kill me MTY.

⁷ So, God, punish them for the wicked things that they are doing; show that you are angry by defeating those people!

⁸ You have counted all the times that I have been wandering alone/distressed; it is as though you have put all my tears in a bottle in order that you can see how much I have cried. You have counted my tears and written the number in your book.

⁹ When I call out to you, my God, my enemies will be defeated; I know that will happen, because you are fighting for me.

¹⁰ I praise/thank you that you do what you have promised; Yahweh, I will always praise you for that DOU.

¹¹ I trust in you, and as a result, I will not be afraid. I know that humans cannot really RHQ harm me!

¹² I will bring to you the offering that I promised; I will bring an offering to you to thank you,

⁶ They come together, they are waiting in secret places, they take note of my steps, they are waiting for my soul.

⁷ By evil-doing they will not get free from punishment. In wrath, O God, let the peoples be made low.

⁸ You have seen my wanderings; put the drops from my eyes into your bottle; are they not in your record?

⁹ When I send up my cry to you, my haters will be turned back; I am certain of this, for God is with me.

¹⁰ In God will I give praise to his word; in the Lord will I give praise to his word.

¹¹ In God have I put my hope, I will have no fear of what man may do to me.

¹² I keep the memory of my debt to you, O God; I will give you the offerings of praise.

⁵ And he hath delivered my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men, whose teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁶ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth.

⁷ They prepared a snare for my feet; and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, and they are fallen into it.

⁸ My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will Sing, and rehearse a psalm.

⁹ Arise, O my glory, arise psaltery and harp: I will arise early.

¹⁰ I will give praise to thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing a psalm to thee among the nations.

¹¹ For thy mercy is magnified even to the heavens: and thy truth unto the clouds.

¹² Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth.

⁵ They constantly twist my words against me; they spend all their time thinking of evil things to do to me.

⁶ They gather together in their hiding places to keep watch on me, hoping to kill me.

⁷ Will they escape when they do so much evil? God, in anger bring these people down!

⁸ You've kept track of all my wanderings. You've collected all my tears in your bottle. You've kept a record of each one.

⁹ Then those who hate me will run away when I call for your help. For I know this: God is for me!

¹⁰ I thank God for his promises. I thank the Lord for his promises.

¹¹ I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?

¹² God, I will keep my promises to you. I will give thank offerings to you,

⁵ Mine owne wordes grieue me dayly: all their thoughtes are against me to doe me hurt.

⁶ They gather together, and keepe them selues close: they marke my steps, because they waite for my soule.

⁷ They thinke they shall escape by iniquitie: O God, cast these people downe in thine anger.

⁸ Thou hast counted my wandrings: put my teares into thy bottel: are they not in thy register?

⁹ When I cry, then mine enemies shall turne backe: this I know, for God is with me.

¹⁰ I will reioyce in God because of his worde: in the Lord wil I reioyce because of his worde.

¹¹ In God doe I trust: I will not be afrayd what man can doe vnto me.

¹² Thy vowes are vpon me, O God: I will render prayses vnto thee.

⁷ (56-8) Because of iniquity cast them out; in anger bring down the peoples, O God.

⁹ (56:10) Then shall my enemies retire backward on the day when I call on thee: this I know—that God is for me.

⁶ banded together in secret, watching my every step, as those who hope for my death.

⁷ Pay them out for their sin, O God, hurl down the strong in your anger.

⁷ for nought shalt thou make them safe; in ire thou shalt break altogether peoples.

⁸ God, I showed my life to thee; thou hast set or puttest my tears in thy sight. As and in thy promise, Lord;

⁹ then mine enemies shall be turned aback. In whatever day I shall inwardly call thee; lo! I have known, that thou art my God.

¹⁰ In God I shall praise a word; in the Lord I shall praise a word.

¹¹ I shall hope in God; I shall not dread what thing man shall do to me.

¹² God, thine avows or vows be in me; which I shall yield praisings to thee.

⁵ All day they cursed my words; against me all their thoughts were into evil. (All day long they cursed my words; all their thoughts were against me for evil.)

⁶ They shall dwell, and they shall hide; they shall ambush mine heel. As they abide my life (or But though they lie in wait for my life),

⁷ for nought shalt thou make them safe; in ire thou shalt break (al)together peoples. (it is they who shall not escape; for in thy anger, God, thou shalt break them all in pieces.)

⁸ God, I showed my life to thee; thou hast set my tears in thy sight. As and in thy promise, Lord; (God, thou knowest my troubles; thou hast set my tears before thee. Be they not in thy Book, O Lord?)

⁹ then mine enemies shall be turned aback. In whatever day I shall inwardly call thee; lo! I have known, that thou art my God. (On whatever day I shall call to thee, then my enemies shall be turned back; for behold! I know this, that thou art with me, my God.)

¹⁰ In God I shall praise a word; in the Lord I shall praise a word. (I shall praise God with my words; yea, I shall praise the Lord with my words.)

¹¹ I shall hope in God; I shall not dread what thing man shall do to me. (I put my trust in God; and I shall not fear what anyone shall do to me.)

¹² God, thine avows be in me; which I shall yield praisings to thee. (God, thy vows be upon me, or God, I shall pay my vows to thee; I shall give praises to thee.)
