Psalms 56:2-6 in English

² Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long; For they are many that fight proudly against me.

³ What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.

⁴ In God (I will praise his word), In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; What can flesh do unto me?

⁵ All the day long they wrest my words: All their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, They mark my steps, Even as they have waited for my soul.

² Have mercy, upon me, O God, have mercy upon me: for my soul has trusted in thee: and in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until the iniquity have passed away.

³ I will cry to God most high; the God who has benefited me. Pause.

⁴ He sent from heaven and saved me; he gave to reproach them that trampled on me: God has sent forth his mercy and his truth;

⁵ and he has delivered my soul from the midst of lions' whelps: I lay down to sleep, though troubled. As for the sons of men, their teeth are arms and missile weapons, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁶ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; and thy glory above all the earth.

² My enemies harass me all day long; there are many of them who proudly attack me.

³ But whenever I am afraid, I trust in you.

⁴ God, I praise/thank you because you do what you have promised; I trust in you, and then I am not afraid. Ordinary humans certainly cannot RHQ harm me!

⁵ All day long my enemies claim that I said things that I did not say (OR, try to destroy what I am doing); they are always thinking of ways to harm me.

⁶ In order to cause trouble for me, they hide and watch everything that I do, waiting for an opportunity to kill me MTY.

² I will cry to God most high; the God who has benefitted me. Pause.

² My haters are ever ready to put an end to me; great numbers are lifting themselves up against me.

³ In the time of my fear, I will have faith in you.

⁴ In God will I give praise to his word; in God have I put my hope; I will have no fear of what flesh may do to me.

⁵ Every day they make wrong use of my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶ They come together, they are waiting in secret places, they take note of my steps, they are waiting for my soul.

² Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long; for they are many that fight against me haughtily.

³ In the day that I am afraid, I will confide in thee.

⁴ In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me?

⁵ All the day long they wrest my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves; they mark my steps, because they wait for my soul.

² Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me: for my soul trusteth in thee. And in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until iniquity pass away.

³ I will cry to God the most High; to God who hath done good to me.

⁴ He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth,

⁵ And he hath delivered my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men, whose teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁶ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth.

² My enemies chase me down all the time—there are many of them, attacking me in their arrogance.

³ But when I'm afraid, I trust in you.

⁴ I thank God for his promises. I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?

⁵ They constantly twist my words against me; they spend all their time thinking of evil things to do to me.

⁶ They gather together in their hiding places to keep watch on me, hoping to kill me.

² Mine enemies would dayly swallowe mee vp: for many fight against me, O thou most High.

³ When I was afrayd, I trusted in thee.

⁴ I will reioyce in God, because of his word, I trust in God, and will not feare what flesh can doe vnto me.

⁵ Mine owne wordes grieue me dayly: all their thoughtes are against me to doe me hurt.

⁶ They gather together, and keepe them selues close: they marke my steps, because they waite for my soule.

² (56-3) They that lie in wait for me would swallow me up all the day; for they are many that fight against me, O Most High,

³ (56-4) In the day that I am afraid, I will put my trust in Thee.

⁴ (56-5) In God — I will praise His word — in God do I trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?

⁵ (56-6) All the day they trouble mine affairs; all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶ (56-7) They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps; according as they have waited for my soul.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they watch my steps, Lying in wait for my life.

² All the day enemies trample me; many there be who contend with me bitterly.

³ In the day of my terror I trust in you.

⁴ In God I maintain my cause, in God I fearlessly trust. What can flesh do to me?

⁵ They torture me all the day, they ceaselessly plan to hurt me,

⁶ banded together in secret, watching my every step, as those who hope for my death.

² All the day enemies trample me; many there be who contend with me bitterly.

³ In the day of my terror I trust in you.

⁴ In God I maintain my cause, in God I fearlessly trust. What can flesh do to me?

³ Of the highness of day I shall dread; but God, I shall hope in thee.

⁴ In God I shall praise my words; I hoped in God, I shall not dread what thing flesh, or man, shall do to me.

⁵ All day they cursed my words; against me all their thoughts were into evil.

⁶ They shall dwell, and they shall hide; they shall ambush mine heel. As they abide my life,

² Mine enemies defouled me all day; for many fighters were against me. (My enemies persecuted me all day long; yea, many fight against me.)

³ Of the highness of day I shall dread; but God, I shall hope in thee. (From the height of the day, I have fear; but God, I put my trust in thee.)

⁴ In God I shall praise my words; I hoped in God, I shall not dread what thing flesh, or man, shall do to me. (Yea, I shall praise God with my words; for I trust in God, and I shall not fear what any person shall do to me.)

⁵ All day they cursed my words; against me all their thoughts were into evil. (All day long they cursed my words; all their thoughts were against me for evil.)

⁶ They shall dwell, and they shall hide; they shall ambush mine heel. As they abide my life (or But though they lie in wait for my life),

² Mine enemies have swallowed up all the day, For many are fighting against me, O most High,

³ The day I am afraid I am confident toward Thee.

⁴ In God I praise His word, in God I have trusted, I fear not what flesh doth to me.

⁵ All the day they wrest my words, Concerning me all their thoughts are for evil,

⁶ They assemble, they hide, they watch my heels, When they have expected my soul.
