Psalms 53:1-6 in American Standard Version (1901)

1 For the Chief Musician; set to Mahalath. Maschil of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good.
2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God.
3 Every one of them is gone back; they are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon God?
5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was; For God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: Thou hast put them to shame, because God hath rejected them.
6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

5 For strangers have risen up against me, and mighty men have sought my life: they have not set God before them. Pause.
6 For lo! God assists me; and the Lord is the helper of my soul.

Psalms 53:1-6 in Translation for Translators

1 Only foolish people say to themselves, “There is no God!” People who say that are corrupt; they commit terrible sins; there is not one of them who does what is good/right.
2 God looks down from heaven and sees humans; he looks to see if anyone is very wise, with the result that he seeks to know God.
3 But they are all morally corrupt; no one does what is good/right.
4 Will all these evil people never learn what God will do to them? They act violently toward Yahweh's people while eating the food that he provides, and they never pray to Yahweh.
5 But some day those people will become terrified, like they have never been terrified before, because God will cause those who are separated from him to die, and he will disrespect them by scattering their bones. They have rejected God, so he will cause them to be defeated and completely disgraced.
6 I wish/desire that someone from Jerusalem MTY would come and rescue the Israeli people! God, when you bless your people again, all the Israeli people, all the descendants of Jacob, will rejoice.

Psalms 53:1-6 in Bible in Basic English

1 To the chief music-maker; put to Mahalath. Maschil. Of David. The foolish man has said in his heart, God will not do anything. They are unclean, they have done evil works; there is not one who does good.
2 God was looking down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who had wisdom, searching after God.
3 Every one of them has gone back; they are unclean: there is not one who does good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of evil no knowledge? they take my people for food, as they would take bread; they make no prayer to God.
5 They were in great fear, where there was no cause for fear: for the bones of those who make war on you have been broken by God; you have put them to shame, because God has no desire for them.
6 May the salvation of Israel come out of Zion! When the fate of his people is changed by God, Jacob will have joy, and Israel will be glad.

Psalms 53:1-6 in Free Bible Version

1 For the music director. According to Mahalath. A psalm (maskil) of David. Only fools tell themselves, “God doesn't exist.” They are completely immoral, they commit terrible sins, not a single one of them does anything good.
2 God watches from heaven to see if anyone understands, if anyone wants to come to God.
3 They have all fallen away, they are totally depraved; none of them does anything good, not even one.
4 “Won't these people who do evil ever learn? They consume my people as if they were eating bread, and refuse to pray to me.”
5 They will become completely terrified, more frightened than they have ever been. God will scatter the bones of those who fight against you; you will defeat them because God has rejected them.
6 If only God's salvation would come from Zion! When God restores his people, the people of Jacob will celebrate, and the people of Israel will be glad.

1 For the leader. On mahalath. A maskil of David. Fools say in their heart, “There is no God.” Vile, hateful their life is; not one does good.

3 But all have turned bad, the taint is on all; not one does good, no, not one.
4 Have they learnt their lesson, those workers of evil? Who ate up my people, eating, devouring, never calling to the Lord.
5 Sore afraid will they be, where no fear was; when God scatters the bones of the godless people. They will be put to shame, when God rejects them.

Psalms 53:1-6 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling

1 To the overcomer, by the quire or choir, the learning of David. The unwise man said in his heart, God is not. They be corrupt, and made abom-inable in their wickednesses; none is that doeth good.
2 God beheld from heaven on the sons of men; that he see, if there is any understanding, either seeking God.
3 All bowed away, they be made unprofitable altogether; none is that doeth good, there is not till to one.
4 Whether all men, that work wicked-ness, shall not know; which devour my people, as the meat of bread? They called not God;
5 there they trembled for dread, where no dread was. For God hath scattered the bones of them, that please men; they be shamed, for God hath forsaken them.
6 Who shall give from Zion health to Israel? when the Lord hath turned the captivity of his people, Jacob shall full out make joy, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalms 53:1-6 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

1 To the overcomer, by the quire, the learning of David. The unwise man said in his heart, God is not. They be corrupt, and made abominable in their wickednesses; none is that doeth good. (For the choirmaster, set to Mahalath, a teaching by David. The fool said in his heart, There is no God. Such men be corrupt, and they be made abominable in their wickednesses; there is no one who doeth good, no not one.)
2 God beheld from heaven on the sons of men; that he see, if there is any understanding, either seeking God. (God looked down from heaven on the sons and daughters of men; to see if there is anyone who hath understanding, or is seeking God.)
3 All bowed away, they be made unprofitable (al)together; none is that doeth good, there is not till to one. (But they all have turned away, they all be made utterly unredeemable; there is no one who doeth good, no not one.)
4 Whether all men, that work wickedness, shall not know; which devour my people, as the meat of bread? They called not God; (Surely all those, who do evil, already know this; yea, they who devour my people, like people eat bread. They do not call on the Lord;)
5 there they trembled for dread, where no dread was. For God hath scattered the bones of them, that please men; they be shamed, for God hath forsaken them. (but they trembled there in fear, like never before. For God hath scattered the bones of those who please people; they be put to shame, for God hath deserted, or hath despised, them.)
6 Who shall give from Zion health to Israel? when the Lord hath turned the captivity of his people, Jacob shall full out make joy, and Israel shall be glad. (Who shall give victory or Who shall give salvation, or deliverance, to Israel out of Zion? When the Lord hath returned the prosperity of his people, then Jacob shall make full out joy, or rejoice; yea, Israel shall be glad.)

Psalms 53:1-6 in Young's Literal Translation

1 To the Overseer. — 'On a disease.' — An instruction, by David. A fool said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They have done corruptly, Yea, they have done abominable iniquity, There is none doing good.
2 God from the heavens looked on the sons of men, To see if there be an understanding one, One seeking God.
3 Every one went back, together they became filthy, There is none doing good — not even one.
4 Have not workers of iniquity known, Those eating my people have eaten bread, God they have not called.
5 There they feared a fear — there was no fear, For God hath scattered the bones of him Who is encamping against thee, Thou hast put to shame, For God hath despised them.
6 Who doth give from Zion the salvation of Israel? When God turneth back to a captivity of His people, Jacob doth rejoice — Israel is glad!
