⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.

⁶ Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts; And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.

⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

⁸ Make me to hear joy and gladness, That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

⁹ Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.

¹¹ Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy Spirit from me.

¹² Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with a willing spirit.

¹³ Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

¹⁶ For thou delightest not in sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

¹⁸ Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

⁵ Thou hast loved wickedness more than goodness; unrighteousness better than to speak righteousness. Pause.

⁶ Thou hast loved all words of destruction, and a deceitful tongue.

⁷ Therefore may God destroy thee for ever, may he pluck thee up and utterly remove thee from thy dwelling, and thy root from the land of the living. Pause.

⁸ And the righteous shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say,

⁹ Behold the man who made not God his help; but trusted in the abundance of his wealth, and strengthened himself in his vanity.

¹⁰ But I am as a fruitful olive in the house of God: I have trusted in the mercy of God for ever, even for evermore.

¹¹ I will give thanks to thee for ever, for thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

⁵ I have been a sinner since the day that I was born; truly, I have been like that since my mother conceived me.

⁶ What you desire is that I desire what is true in order that you can teach me how to act wisely.

⁷ Purify me from the guilt of my sins, and after that happens, I will be clean in my inner being; cleanse me, and then in my inner being I will be ◄whiter than snow/very clean►.

⁸ Allow/Cause me to be joyful DOU again; you have ◄crushed my spirit/completely discouraged me► MTY; but now let me rejoice again.

⁹ Do not continue to look at the sins IDM that I have committed; erase the record of the evil things that I have done.

¹⁰ O God, cause my inner being to be pure. Put new thoughts within me and make me faithful again.

¹¹ Do not send me away from you because of my sin, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me.

¹² Cause/Allow me to be happy again because of knowing that you have freed me from the guilt of my sin, and make me willing to obey you.

¹³ If you do that, I will be able to teach other sinners what you want them to do, and they will repent and begin to obey you.

¹⁴ O God, you are the one who saves me; forgive me for being guilty of causing someone who was not my enemy to die. When you do that, I will sing joyfully about your being very good and righteous.

¹⁵ O Yahweh, help me to speak in order that I may praise you.

¹⁶ You are not pleased only with the sacrifices that people bring to you. If that were enough to please you, I would bring you sacrifices. You are not pleased with burnt offerings alone.

¹⁷ The sacrifice that you really want is for people to be truly humble and sorry for having sinned; O God, you will not refuse that kind of sacrifice.

¹⁸ O God, be good to the people who live in Jerusalem MTY, and help them to rebuild the city walls.

⁵ Therefore may God destroy you for ever, may he pluck you up and utterly remove you from your dwelling, and your root from the land of the living. Pause.

⁶ And the righteous shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say,

⁸ Make me full of joy and rapture; so that the bones which have been broken may be glad.

⁹ Let your face be turned from my wrongdoing, and take away all my sins.

¹⁰ Make a clean heart in me, O God; give me a right spirit again.

¹¹ Do not put me away from before you, or take your holy spirit from me.

¹² Give me back the joy of your salvation; let a free spirit be my support.

¹³ Then will I make your ways clear to wrongdoers; and sinners will be turned to you.

¹⁴ Be my saviour from violent death, O God, the God of my salvation; and my tongue will give praise to your righteousness.

¹⁵ O Lord, let my lips be open, so that my mouth may make clear your praise.

¹⁶ You have no desire for an offering or I would give it; you have no delight in burned offerings.

¹⁷ The offerings of God are a broken spirit; a broken and sorrowing heart, O God, you will not put from you.

¹⁸ Do good to Zion in your good pleasure, building up the walls of Jerusalem.

¹⁶ For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

¹⁸ Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem.

⁵ Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.

⁶ Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, O deceitful tongue.

⁷ Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.

⁸ The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:

⁹ Behold the man that made not God his helper: But trusted in the abundance of his riches: and prevailed in his vanity.

¹⁰ But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.

¹¹ I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.

⁵ It's true that I was born guilty—sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

⁶ But you want truth on the inside; you teach me wisdom deep within.

⁷ Purify me with hyssop so I can be clean; wash me so I can be whiter than snow.

⁸ Please let me hear joy and happiness again; let the bones you have crushed be glad once more.

⁹ Turn your face away from looking at my sins; please wipe away my guilt.

¹⁰ Create a pure mind in me, God, and make me trustworthy again.

¹¹ Don't expel me from your presence; don't take away your Holy Spirit from me.

¹² Give me back the happiness of your salvation; help me to have a willing nature.

¹³ Then I will teach your ways to rebellious people, and these sinners will come back to you.

¹⁴ God, please forgive me for the blood I have shed, God of my salvation, and I will sing for joy of your goodness.

¹⁵ Open my lips so I can speak your praise!

¹⁶ For sacrifices don't make you happy, or I would bring one; burnt offerings aren't what pleases you.

¹⁷ The “sacrifices” that God wants are on the inside—the brokenness of repentance. God won't reject a broken and sorrowful heart.

¹⁸ Be kind to Zion, help the city; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

⁶ Beholde, thou louest trueth in the inwarde affections: therefore hast thou taught mee wisedome in the secret of mine heart.

⁸ Make me to heare ioye and gladnes, that the bones, which thou hast broken, may reioyce.

⁹ Hide thy face from my sinnes, and put away all mine iniquities.

¹² Restore to me the ioy of thy saluation, and stablish me with thy free Spirit.

¹⁸ Bee fauourable vnto Zion for thy good pleasure: builde the walles of Ierusalem.

¹⁰ Create within me a clean heart, O God! Renew within me a steadfast spirit!

¹¹ Cast me not away from thy presence, And take not thy holy spirit from me!

¹² Restore to me the joy of thy protection, And strengthen me with a willing spirit!

¹³ Then will I teach thy ways to transgressors, And sinners shall be converted to thee.

¹⁴ Deliver me from the guilt of blood, O God, the God of my salvation! That my tongue may sing aloud of thy goodness!

¹⁵ O Lord! open thou my lips, That my mouth may show forth thy praise!

¹⁶ For thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou delightest not in burnt-offerings.

¹⁷ The sacrifice which God loveth is a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God! thou wilt not despise!

¹⁸ Do good to Zion according to thy mercy; Build up the walls of Jerusalem!

⁵ See! In guilt was I brought to the birth, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

⁶ It's the innermost truth you desire, give me therefore true wisdom of heart.

⁷ Purge me clean with hyssop, wash me whiter than snow.

⁸ Fill me with joy and gladness, let the bones you have broken rejoice.

⁹ Hide your face from my sins, and blot out my guilt altogether.

¹⁰ Create me a clean heart, O God, put a new steadfast spirit within me.

¹¹ Cast me not forth from your presence, withdraw not your holy spirit.

¹² Give me back the joy of your help, with a willing spirit sustain me.

¹³ I will teach your ways to transgressors, and sinners shall turn to you.

¹⁴ Save me from blood, O God, and my tongue shall ring out your faithfulness.

¹⁵ Open my lips, O Lord, and my mouth shall declare your praise.

¹⁶ For in sacrifice you have no pleasure, in gifts of burnt-offering no delight.

¹⁷ The sacrifice pleasing to God is a spirit that is broken; a heart that is crushed, O God, you will not despise.

¹⁸ Do good in your pleasure to Zion, build the walls of Jerusalem.
