⁷ Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, even thy God.

⁸ I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices; And thy burnt-offerings are continually before me.

⁹ I will take no bullock out of thy house, Nor he-goats out of thy folds.

¹⁰ For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills.

¹¹ I know all the birds of the mountains; And the wild beasts of the field are mine.

¹² If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; For the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

¹³ Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats?

¹⁴ Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; And pay thy vows unto the Most High;

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

¹⁶ But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, And that thou hast taken my covenant in thy mouth,

¹⁷ Seeing that thou hatest instruction, And castest my words behind thee?

¹⁸ When thou sawest a thief, thou consentedst with him, And hast been partaker with adulterers.

¹⁹ Thou givest thy mouth to evil, And thy tongue frameth deceit.

²⁰ Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; Thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: But I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

²² Now consider this, ye that forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver:

²³ Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifieth me; And to him that ordereth his way aright Will I show the salvation of God.

⁷ For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

⁸ For, behold, thou lovest truth: thou hast manifested to me the secret and hidden things of thy wisdom.

⁹ Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.

¹⁰ Thou shalt cause me to hear gladness and joy: the afflicted bones shall rejoice.

¹¹ Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

¹² Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in my inward parts.

¹³ Cast me not away from thy presence; and remove not thy Holy Spirit from me.

¹⁴ Restore to me the joy of thy salvation: establish me with thy directing Spirit.

¹⁵ Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and ungodly men shall turn to thee.

¹⁶ Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: and my tongue shall joyfully declare thy righteousness.

¹⁷ O Lord, thou shalt open my lips; and my mouth shall declare thy praise.

¹⁸ For if thou desiredst sacrifice, I would have given it: thou wilt not take pleasure in whole-burnt-offerings.

¹⁹ Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.

²⁰ Do good, O Lord, to Sion in thy good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

²¹ Then shalt thou be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, offering, and whole-burnt-sacrifices: then shall they offer calves upon thine altar.

⁷ God says, “My people, listen! You Israeli people, listen, as I, your God, say what you have done that is wrong.

⁸ I am not rebuking you for making sacrifices to me, for the offerings that you completely burn on the altar.

⁹ But I do not really need you to sacrifice the bulls from your barns and the goats from your pens,

¹⁰ because all the animals in the forest belong to me, and all the cattle on a thousand hills also belong to me.

¹¹ I own and know all the birds and all the creatures that move around in the fields.

¹² So, if I were hungry, I would not tell you to bring me some food, because everything in the world belongs to me!

¹³ I do not eat the flesh of the bulls that you sacrifice, and I do not drink the blood of the goats that you offer to me.

¹⁴ The sacrifice that I really want is that you thank me and do all that you have promised to do.

¹⁵ And pray to me when you have troubles. If you do that, I will rescue you, and then you will praise me.

¹⁶ But I say this to the wicked people: ◄Why do you/It does not benefit you at all to► RHQ recite my commandments or talk about the agreement that I made with you,

¹⁷ because you have refused to allow me to discipline you, and you have rejected what I told you to do.

¹⁸ Every time that you see a thief, you become his friend, and you spend much time with those who commit adultery.

¹⁹ You are always talking MTY about doing wicked things, and you are always trying to deceive people.

²⁰ You are always accusing members of your own family of doing wrong, and slandering them.

²¹ You did all those things, and I did not say anything to you, so you thought that I was a sinner just like you. But now I rebuke you and accuse you, right in front of you.

²² So, all you who have ignored me, pay attention to this, because if you do not, I will tear you to pieces, and there will be no one to rescue you.

²³ The sacrifice that truly honors me is to thank me for what I have done; and I will save those who always do the things that I want them to.”

²¹ You have done these things, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.

²² “Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you into pieces, and there be no one to deliver.

²³ Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me, and prepares his way so that I will show God’s salvation to him.”

⁸ I will not take up a cause against you because of your offerings, or because of your burned offerings, which are ever before me.

⁹ I will take no ox out of your house, or he-goats from your flocks;

¹⁰ For every beast of the woodland is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

¹¹ I see all the birds of the mountains, and the beasts of the field are mine.

¹² If I had need of food, I would not give you word of it; for the earth is mine and all its wealth.

¹³ Am I to take the flesh of the ox for my food, or the blood of goats for my drink?

¹⁴ Make an offering of praise to God; keep the agreements which you have made with the Most High;

¹⁵ Let your voice come up to me in the day of trouble; I will be your saviour, so that you may give glory to me.

¹⁶ But to the sinner, God says, What are you doing, talking of my laws, or taking the words of my agreement in your mouth?

¹⁷ Seeing that you have no desire for my teaching, turning your back on my words.

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, you were in agreement with him, and you were joined with those who took other men's wives.

¹⁹ You have given your mouth to evil, your tongue to words of deceit.

²⁰ You say evil of your brother; you make false statements against your mother's son.

²¹ These things have you done, and I said nothing; it seemed to you that I was such a one as yourself; but I will make a protest against you, and put them in order before your eyes.

²² Now keep this in mind, you who have no memory of God, for fear that you may be crushed under my hand, with no one to give you help:

²³ Whoever makes an offering of praise gives glory to me; and to him who is upright in his ways I will make clear the salvation of God.

¹⁷ Seeing thou hast hated correction and hast cast my words behind thee?

¹⁸ When thou sawest a thief, thou didst take pleasure in him, and thy portion was with adulterers;

¹⁹ Thou lettest thy mouth loose to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit;

²⁰ Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother, thou revilest thine own mother's son:

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

²² Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear in pieces, and there be no deliverer.

¹³ Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

¹⁴ Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.

¹⁵ I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee.

¹⁶ Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice.

¹⁷ O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: and my mouth shall declare thy praise.

¹⁸ For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted.

¹⁹ A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

²⁰ Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.

²¹ Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

⁷ “My people, listen to what I have to say. I am bringing charges against you, Israel. I am God, your God!

⁸ I'm not complaining about your sacrifices or burnt offerings that you offer all the time.

⁹ I do not require bulls from your barns or goats from your pens,

¹⁰ for I own all the animals of the forest, and the cattle on a thousand hills belong to me.

¹¹ I know every bird of the mountains; all living things in the fields are mine.

¹² If I were hungry, I wouldn't tell you, for the earth and everything in it are mine.

¹³ Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?

¹⁴ Give an offering of thanks to God; keep the promises you made to the Most High,

¹⁵ and call on me when you're in trouble. I will rescue you, and you will thank me.”

¹⁶ But to the wicked God says, “What's the point of mechanically repeating my laws or making empty promises about obeying the agreement?

¹⁷ You hate my discipline, and you toss my words away, leaving them behind you.

¹⁸ When you see people stealing, you admire them; you associate with adulterers.

¹⁹ With your mouth you say evil things; you use your tongue to spread lies.

²⁰ You sit there and speak against your brother, slandering your own mother's son.

²¹ I kept quiet when you did these things. You thought I was someone just like you. But now I confront you, and bring my charges against you.

²² Think again, you people who dismiss God, or I will tear you apart, and no-one will be able to save you.

²³ But those who give an offering of thanks honor me, and to those who follow the right I will show them the salvation of God.”

¹⁴ Offer vnto God praise, and pay thy vowes vnto the most High,

¹⁵ And call vpon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliuer thee, and thou shalt glorifie me.

¹⁶ But vnto the wicked said God, What hast thou to doe to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my couenant in thy mouth,

¹⁷ Seeing thou hatest to bee reformed, and hast cast my wordes behinde thee?

¹⁸ For when thou seest a thiefe, thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers.

¹⁹ Thou giuest thy mouth to euill, and with thy tongue thou forgest deceit.

²⁰ Thou sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mothers sonne.

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reproue thee, and set them in order before thee.

²² Oh cosider this, ye that forget God, least I teare you in pieces, and there be none that can deliuer you.

²³ He that offereth praise, shall glorifie mee: and to him, that disposeth his way aright, will I shew the saluation of God.

¹⁶ But unto the wicked God saith: 'What hast thou to do to declare My statutes, and that thou hast taken My covenant in thy mouth?

¹⁷ Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest My words behind thee.

¹⁸ When thou sawest a thief, thou hadst company with him, and with adulterers was thy portion.

¹⁹ Thou hast let loose thy mouth for evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.

²⁰ Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.

²¹ These things hast thou done, and should I have kept silence? Thou hadst thought that I was altogether such a one as thyself; but I will reprove thee, and set the cause before thine eyes.

²² Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

²³ Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving honoureth Me; and to him that ordereth his way aright will I show the salvation of God.'

¹¹ Turn away thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.

¹² Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit in my inward parts.

¹³ Cast me not away from thy presence; And remove not thy holy Spirit from me.

¹⁴ Restore to me the joy of thy salvation: Establish me with thy directing Spirit.

¹⁵ Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And ungodly men shall turn to thee.

¹⁶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: And my tongue shall joyfully declare thy righteousness.

¹⁷ O Lord, thou shalt open my lips; And my mouth shall declare thy praise.

¹⁸ For if thou desiredst sacrifice, I would have given it: Thou wilt not take pleasure in whole burnt offerings.

¹⁹ Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: A broken and humbled heart God will not despise.

²⁰ Do good, O Lord, to Zion in thy good pleasure; And let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

²¹ Then shalt thou be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, Offering, and whole burnt sacrifices: Then shall they offer calves upon thine altar.

⁷ “Hear, O my people, and I will speak! O Israel, and I will testify against thee! For I am God, thine own God.

⁸ I reprove thee not on account of thy sacrifices; For thy burnt-offerings are ever before me.

¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue expresses deceit.

²⁰ You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son.

²¹ You have done these things, but I have kept silent, so you thought that I was someone just like yourself. But I will reprove you and bring up, right before your eyes, all the things you have done.

²² Give this careful consideration, you who forget God, otherwise I will tear you to pieces, and there will be no one to come to help you!

²³ The one who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving praises me, and to anyone who plans his path in the right way I will show God's salvation.”

²⁰ Thou sitting spakest against thy brother, and thou settedest slander against the son of thy mother;

²¹ thou didest these things, and I was still. Thou guessedest wickedly, that I shall be like thee; I shall reprove thee, and I shall set against thy face.

²² Ye that forget God, understand these things; lest sometime he ravish, and none be that shall deliver.

²³ The sacrifice of praising shall honour me; and there is the way, wherein I shall show to him the health of God.

¹⁰ For all the wild beasts of (the) woods be mine; work beasts, and oxes in hills, (or and the work beasts as well, and the oxen on the hills).

²⁰ Thou sitting spakest against thy brother, and thou settedest slander against the son of thy mother; (And thou sitteth down, and speakest against thy brother, yea, thou settest forth slander against thy mother’s son;)

²¹ thou didest these things, and I was still. Thou guessedest wickedly, that I shall be like thee; I shall reprove thee, and I shall set (them) against thy face. (thou didest these things, and I was silent. And thou wickedly guessedest that I was just like thee; but I shall rebuke thee, and I shall do it to thy face.)

²² Ye that forget God, understand these things; lest sometime he ravish, and none be that shall deliver. (Ye who forget God, understand these things; lest sometime I tear thee in pieces, and there be no one who shall save thee.)

²³ The sacrifice of praising shall honour me; and there is the way, wherein I shall show to him the health of God. (The sacrifice of praise shall honour me; and to those who follow my way or and to those who obey me, I shall give them the salvation of God.)

⁷ Hear, O My people, and I speak, O Israel, and I testify against thee, God, thy God am I.

⁸ Not for thy sacrifices do I reprove thee, Yea, thy burnt-offerings Are before Me continually.

⁹ I take not from thy house a bullock, From thy folds he goats.

¹⁰ For Mine is every beast of the forest, The cattle on the hills of oxen.

¹¹ I have known every fowl of the mountains, And the wild beast of the field is with Me.

¹² If I am hungry I tell not to thee, For Mine is the world and its fulness.

¹³ Do I eat the flesh of bulls, And drink the blood of he-goats?

¹⁴ Sacrifice to God confession, And complete to the Most High thy vows.

¹⁵ And call Me in a day of adversity, I deliver thee, and thou honourest Me.

¹⁶ And to the wicked hath God said: What to thee — to recount My statutes? That thou liftest up My covenant on thy mouth?

¹⁷ Yea, thou hast hated instruction, And dost cast My words behind thee.

¹⁸ If thou hast seen a thief, Then thou art pleased with him, And with adulterers is thy portion.

¹⁹ Thy mouth thou hast sent forth with evil, And thy tongue joineth deceit together,

²⁰ Thou sittest, against thy brother thou speakest, Against a son of thy mother givest slander.

²¹ These thou didst, and I kept silent, Thou hast thought that I am like thee, I reprove thee, and set in array before thine eyes.

²² Understand this, I pray you, Ye who are forgetting God, Lest I tear, and there is no deliverer.

²³ He who is sacrificing praise honoureth Me, As to him who maketh a way, I cause him to look on the salvation of God!
