¹⁵ But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol; For he will receive me. Selah

¹⁶ Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased:

¹⁷ For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.

¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul (And men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself),

¹⁹ He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see the light.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of affliction; and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Pause.

¹⁶ But to the sinner God has said, Why dost thou declare my ordinances, and take up my covenant in thy mouth?

¹⁷ Whereas thou hast hated instruction, and hast cast my words behind thee.

¹⁸ If thou sawest a thief, thou rannest along with him, and hast cast in thy lot with adulterers.

¹⁹ Thy mouth has multiplied wickedness, and thy tongue has framed deceit.

¹⁸ While a rich person is alive, he congratulates himself, and people praise him for being successful,

¹⁹ but he will die, joining his ancestors, who will never see daylight again.

¹⁶ Don't be disturbed when people become rich, filling their houses with possessions.

¹⁷ For they won't take anything with them when they die; their wealth will not go down into the grave with them.

¹⁸ They congratulate themselves for all they possess—people always praise you when you do well—

¹⁹ but their destiny is the same as their forefathers: they will never again see the light of day.

¹⁵ But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. Selah.

¹⁶ Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.

¹⁷ For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.

¹⁸ For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.

¹⁹ He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.

¹⁶ (49-17) Be not thou afraid when one waxeth rich, when the wealth of his house is increased;

¹⁷ (49-18) For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; his wealth shall not descend after him.

¹⁸ (49-19) Though while he lived he blessed his soul: 'Men will praise thee, when thou shalt do well to thyself';

¹⁹ (49-20) It shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see the light.

¹⁶ So be not afraid when someone grows rich, when the wealth of their house increases.

¹⁷ Not a shred of it all can they take when they die, wealth cannot follow them down.

¹⁸ Though they count themselves happy, when they are alive, and win praise from many for faring so well,

¹⁹ they must join their ancestors, who see the light nevermore.

¹⁵ Nevertheless God shall again-buy my soul from the power of hell; when he shall take me. (But God shall redeem my soul; and he shall take me away from the power of Sheol, or the power of death.)

¹⁶ Dread thou not (or Fear thou not), when a man is made rich; and when the glory of his house is multiplied.

¹⁷ For when he shall die, he shall not take all things with him (or he shall not take anything with him); and his glory shall not go down with him.

¹⁸ For his soul shall be blessed in his life; he shall acknowledge to thee, when thou hast done well to him. (Even though his soul shall be blessed in this life; and people shall praise him, when he hath done well for himself.)

¹⁹ He shall enter till into the generations of his fathers; and till into without end he shall not see light. (He shall go to the generations of his forefathers; and none of them shall ever see the light again.)

¹⁵ Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. Selah.

¹⁶ Fear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,

¹⁷ For at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.

¹⁸ For his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)

¹⁹ It cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.
