³ God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

⁴ For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.

⁵ They saw it, then were they amazed; They were dismayed, they hasted away.

⁶ Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail.

⁷ With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

⁸ As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah

⁹ We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple.

¹⁰ As is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

³ both the sons of mean men, and sons of great men; the rich and poor man together.

⁴ My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall bring forth understanding.

⁵ I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my riddle on the harp.

⁶ Wherefore should I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall compass me.

⁷ They that trust in their strength, and boast themselves in the multitude of their wealth—

⁸ A brother does not redeem, shall a man redeem? he shall not give to God a ransom for himself,

⁹ or the price of the redemption of his soul, though he labour for ever,

¹⁰ and live to the end, so that he should not see corruption.

³ God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

⁴ Many kings gathered with their armies to attack that city,

⁵ but when they saw it, they were amazed; they became terrified, and ran away.

⁶ Because they were very afraid, they trembled like a woman who is about to give birth to a child;

⁷ they shook like ships sailing from Tarshish are shaken by a strong wind.

⁸ We had heard that this city is glorious, and now we have seen that it is. It is the city in which Yahweh, the almighty one, lives. It is the city which God will preserve/protect forever.

⁹ God, here in your temple we think about how you faithfully love us.

¹⁰ You MTY are famous and ◄are praised/people praise you► all over the earth, because you rule powerfully MTY and justly.

⁶ Shaking came on them and pain, as on a woman in childbirth.

⁷ By you the ships of Tarshish are broken as by an east wind.

⁸ As it came to our ears so have we seen it, in the town of the Lord of armies, in the town of our God; God will keep it fixed for ever. (Selah.)

⁹ Our thoughts were of your mercy, O God, while we were in your Temple.

¹⁰ As your name is, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.

³ God is known in her palaces as a high fortress.

⁴ For behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together;

⁵ They saw, — so they marvelled; they were troubled, they fled in consternation:

⁶ Trembling took hold upon them there; anguish, as of a woman in travail.

⁷ With an east wind thou hast broken the ships of Tarshish.

⁸ As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God doth establish it for ever. Selah.

⁹ We have thought, O God, of thy loving-kindness, in the midst of thy temple.

³ All you that are earthborn, and you sons of men: both rich and poor together.

⁶ Why shall I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall encompass me.

⁷ They that trust in their own strength, and glory in the multitude of their riches,

⁸ No brother can redeem, nor shall man redeem: he shall not give to God his ransom,

⁹ Nor the price of the redemption of his soul: and shall labour for ever,

¹⁰ And shall still live unto the end.

³ God himself is in the city's fortresses; he is recognized as its defender.

⁴ Look at what happened when foreign kings joined forces and came to attack the city.

⁵ As soon as they saw it they were astonished and ran away terrified.

⁶ They shook all over, and were in agonizing pain like a woman giving birth,

⁷ just as the strong east wind wrecks the ships from Tarshish.

⁸ Just as we had heard, but now we have seen the city of the Lord Almighty. This is the city of our God; he makes it secure forever. Selah.

⁹ God, we recall your trustworthy love as we worship in the Temple.

¹⁰ As is fitting for your reputation, God, praises to you stretch all around the world. What you do is always right!

³ In the palaces thereof God is knowen for a refuge.

⁴ For lo, the Kings were gathered, and went together.

⁵ When they sawe it, they marueiled: they were astonied, and suddenly driuen backe.

⁶ Feare came there vpon them, and sorowe, as vpon a woman in trauaile.

⁷ As with an East winde thou breakest the shippes of Tarshish, so were they destroyed.

⁸ As we haue heard, so haue we seene in the citie of the Lord of hostes, in the Citie of our God: God will stablish it for euer. Selah.

⁹ We waite for thy louing kindnes, O God, in the middes of thy Temple.

¹⁰ O God, according vnto thy Name, so is thy prayse vnto the worlds end: thy right hand is full of righteousnes.

³ (48-4) God in her palaces hath made Himself known for a stronghold.

⁵ (48-6) They saw, straightway they were amazed; they were affrighted, they hasted away.

⁶ (48-7) Trembling took hold of them there, pangs, as of a woman in travail.

⁷ (48-8) With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

⁸ (48-9) As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God — God establish it for ever. Selah

⁹ (48:10) We have reflected on thy kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

¹⁰ (48:11) As thy name is, O God, so is thy praise over the ends of the earth: of righteousness is thy right hand full.

⁹ We think of thy loving-kindness, O God! In the midst of thy temple!

¹⁰ As thy name, O God! so thy praise, extendeth to the ends of the earth; Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

⁴ For see! A concert of kings passed over the frontier together.

⁵ But one glance, and they were astounded; they hastened away in dismay.

⁶ Trembling took hold of them there, like the pains of a woman in labour.

⁷ They were shattered, as east wind shatters the giant ships in pieces.

⁸ What we heard, we now have seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, the city of our God. God will uphold her forever. Selah

⁹ We think, O God, of your love, in the midst of your temple.

¹⁰ Your fame, O God, like your name, shall extend to the ends of the earth. Victory fills your hand.

⁷ in a great spirit thou shalt all-break the ships of Tarshish.

⁸ As we heard, so we saw, in the city of the Lord of virtues, in the city of our God; God hath founded that city without end.

⁹ God, we have received thy mercy; in the midst of thy temple.

¹⁰ After thy name, God, so thy praising is spread abroad into the ends of earth; thy right hand is full of rightwiseness.

³ God shall be known in the houses thereof; when he shall take it. (And God is known as a refuge, or a stronghold, in its palaces.)

⁴ For lo! the kings of (the) earth were gathered together (against it); they came into one place.

⁵ They seeing, so wondered; they were troubled, they were moved (al)together, (But when they saw it, they wondered about it or they were full of wonder, or amazement; and they were troubled, and ran away,)

⁶ trembling took them. There sorrows, as of a woman travailing of child; (for panic, or trembling, took hold of them there. And sorrows, like when a woman laboureth with child;)

⁷ in a great spirit thou shalt all-break the ships of Tarshish. (or when a great east wind all-breaketh the ships from Tarshish.)

⁸ As we heard, so we saw, in the city of the Lord of virtues, in the city of our God; God hath founded that city into without end. (All that we had heard about, we saw with our own eyes, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; and God hath established that city forever.)

⁹ God, we have received thy mercy; in the midst of thy temple. (God, we think about thy love; in the midst of thy Temple.)

¹⁰ After thy name, God, so thy praising is spread abroad into the ends of earth; thy right hand is full of rightwiseness. (The praising of thy name, O God, is spread abroad unto the ends of the earth; thy right hand is full of righteousness.)

³ God in her high places is known for a tower.

⁴ For, lo, the kings met, they passed by together,

⁵ They have seen — so they have marvelled, They have been troubled, they were hastened away.

⁶ Trembling hath seized them there, Pain, as of a travailing woman.

⁷ By an east wind Thou shiverest ships of Tarshish.

⁸ As we have heard, so we have seen, In the city of Jehovah of hosts, In the city of our God, God doth establish her — to the age. Selah.

⁹ We have thought, O God, of Thy kindness, In the midst of Thy temple,

¹⁰ As is Thy name, O God, so is Thy praise, Over the ends of the earth, Righteousness hath filled Thy right hand.
