⁹ But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts.

¹⁰ Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.

¹¹ Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food, And hast scattered us among the nations.

¹² Thou sellest thy people for nought, And hast not increased thy wealth by their price.

¹³ Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us.

¹⁴ Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.

¹⁵ All the day long is my dishonor before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me,

¹⁶ For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth, By reason of the enemy and the avenger.

¹⁷ All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, Neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

¹⁸ Our heart is not turned back, Neither have our steps declined from thy way,

¹⁹ That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.

²⁰ If we have forgotten the name of our God, Or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

²¹ Will not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

²³ Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off for ever.

²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

²⁵ For our soul is bowed down to the dust: Our body cleaveth unto the earth.

⁹ Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia are exhaled from thy garments, and out of the ivory palaces,

¹⁰ with which kings' daughters have gladdened thee for thine honour: the queen stood by on thy right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, and arrayed in divers colours.

¹¹ Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; forget also thy people, and thy father's house.

¹² Because the king has desired thy beauty; for he is thy Lord.

¹³ And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; the rich of the people of the land shall supplicate thy favour.

¹⁴ All her glory is that of the daughter of the king of Esebon, robed as she is in golden fringed garments,

¹⁵ in embroidered clothing: virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to thee.

¹⁶ They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king's temple.

¹⁷ Instead of thy fathers children are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.

¹⁸ They shall make mention of thy name from generation to generation: therefore shall the nations give thanks to thee for ever, even for ever and ever.

⁹ But now you have rejected us and caused us to be disgraced; when our armies march out to fight a battle, you no longer go with them.

¹⁰ You have caused us to run away from our enemies, with the result that they captured the things that belonged to us.

¹¹ You have allowed us to become like MET sheep that were ready to be slaughtered; you scattered us far away among other nations.

¹² It is as though MET you sold us, your people, to our enemies for a very small price, and you did not gain much profit from selling us!

¹³ People who live in nations near us make fun of us; they laugh at us and deride/belittle us.

¹⁴ They make jokes using the name of our country, they shake their heads to indicate that they despise us.

¹⁵ All day I feel disgraced; from seeing my face, people know that I am ashamed.

¹⁶ I hear what those who sneer at me and revile me say; I am ashamed in front of my enemies and those who want to harm me.

¹⁷ All these things have happened to us even though we have not forgotten you, and we are not the ones who disobeyed the agreement you made with our ancestors.

¹⁸ We have not stopped being loyal to you, and we have not stopped doing what you want us to do IDM.

¹⁹ But it is as though you have allowed us to be helpless among wild animals, and abandoned us in a deep dark ravine.

²⁰ If we had forgotten to worship MTY our God, or if we had spread out our hands to worship a foreign god,

²¹ you certainly would have known that, because you know even what we secretly think.

²² But it is because we belong to you, that our enemies are constantly killing us. They act toward us as though we were only sheep to be slaughtered.

²³ So, Yahweh, arise! Why are you asleep RHQ? Get up! Do not reject us forever!

²⁴ Why are you not looking at us? Why are you forgetting that we are suffering and being oppressed by our enemies?

²⁵ We are pushed down to the ground and we cannot get up.

¹² You let your people go for nothing; your wealth is not increased by their price.

¹³ You have made us to be looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and shamed by those who are round about us.

¹⁴ Our name is a word of shame among the nations, a sign for the shaking of heads among the peoples.

¹⁵ My downfall is ever before me, and I am covered with the shame of my face;

¹⁶ Because of the voice of him who says sharp and bitter words; because of the hater and him who is the instrument of punishment.

¹⁷ All this has come on us, but still we have kept you in our memory; and we have not been false to your word.

¹⁸ Our hearts have not gone back, and our steps have not been turned out of your way;

¹⁹ Though you have let us be crushed in the place of jackals, though we are covered with darkest shade.

²⁰ If the name of our God has gone out of our minds, or if our hands have been stretched out to a strange god,

²¹ Will not God make search for it? for he sees the secrets of the heart.

²² Truly, because of you we are put to death every day; we are numbered like sheep for destruction.

²³ Why are you sleeping, O Lord? awake! and come to our help, do not give us up for ever.

²⁴ Why is your face covered, and why do you give no thought to our trouble and our cruel fate?

²⁵ For our souls are crushed down to the dust: our bodies are stretched out on the earth.

⁹ But thou hast cast off, and put us to confusion, and dost not go forth with our armies;

¹⁰ Thou hast made us to turn back from the adversary, and they that hate us spoil for themselves;

⁹ Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of which

¹⁰ The daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.

¹¹ Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father’s house.

¹² And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.

¹³ And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.

¹⁴ All the glory of the king’s daughter is within in golden borders,

¹⁵ Clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.

¹⁶ They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.

¹⁷ Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.

¹⁸ They shall remember thy name throughout all generations. Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; yea, for ever and ever.

⁹ But now you have rejected and disgraced us; you no longer accompany our armies.

¹⁰ You made us run from our enemies, and those who hate us have taken whatever they wanted.

¹¹ You have handed us over like sheep to be slaughtered; you have scattered us among the other nations.

¹² You have sold your own people for next to nothing, making no profit on the sale.

¹³ You have made a mockery of us before our neighbors, we are ridiculed and laughed at by those around us.

¹⁴ You have made us a joke to the other nations; they scornfully shake their heads at us.

¹⁵ We are humiliated all day long; we hold our heads in shame,

¹⁶ because of all the insults from the people mocking us, because our vengeful enemies are right in front of us.

¹⁷ All this has happened to us even though we didn't forget you; we haven't been unfaithful to the promises we made to you.

¹⁸ We have not turned away from you, not in thought, nor in action.

¹⁹ Even so, you crushed us, and made us into a jackal's den. You have covered us with the darkness of death.

²⁰ If we had forgotten the name of our God, or worshiped other gods,

²¹ wouldn't God have been aware of this, because he knows everyone's thoughts?

²² But because of you we are killed all day long; we're considered just sheep to be slaughtered.

²³ Lord, wake up! Why are you sleeping? Get up! Don't turn your back on us forever!

²⁴ Why do you look away from us and take no notice of our suffering and misery?

²⁵ We lie ruined in the dust, our bodies face down in the dirt.

⁹ But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.

¹⁰ Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.

¹¹ Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.

¹² Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.

¹³ Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.

¹⁴ Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.

¹⁵ My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,

¹⁶ For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.

¹⁷ All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.

¹⁸ Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,

¹⁹ Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.

²⁰ If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,

²¹ Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.

²³ Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.

²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?

²⁵ For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.

⁹ (44-10) Yet Thou hast cast off, and brought us to confusion; and goest not forth with our hosts.

¹⁰ (44-11) Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; and they that hate us spoil at their will.

¹¹ (44-12) Thou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations.

¹² (44-13) Thou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high.

¹³ (44-14) Thou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

¹⁴ (44-15) Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

¹⁵ (44-16) All the day is my confusion before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

¹⁶ (44-17) For the voice of him that taunteth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.

¹⁷ (44-18) All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant.

¹⁸ (44-19) Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path;

¹⁹ (44-20) Though Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

¹⁰ (44:11) Thou causest us to turn back from before our assailant: and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.

¹¹ (44:12) Thou givest us up like sheep for food, and among the nations hast thou dispersed us.

¹² (44:13) Thou sellest thy people for no value, and acquirest no gain by their price.

¹³ (44:14) Thou renderest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us.

¹⁴ (44:15) Thou renderest us a by-word among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.

¹⁵ (44:16) All the day is my disgrace before me, and the shame of my face covereth me;

¹⁶ (44:17) Because of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.

¹⁷ (44:18) All this is come over us, yet have we not forgotten thee; nor have we dealt falsely by thy covenant;

¹⁸ (44:19) Our heart is not moved backward, nor hath our step turned aside from thy path:

¹⁹ (44:20) Even when thou didst crush us in the abode of monsters, and cover us with the shadow of death.

²⁰ (44:21) If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange God:

²¹ (44:22) Would not God search out this? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² (44:23) But for thy sake are we slain all the day; we are counted as flocks destined for slaughter.

²³ (44:24) Awake, wherefore wilt thou sleep, O Lord? arise, abandon us not for ever.

²⁴ (44:25) Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, wilt thou forget our misery, and our oppression?

²⁵ (44:26) For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaveth unto the earth.

⁹ Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia are exhaled from thy garments, And out of the ivory palaces,

¹⁰ With which kings’ daughters have gladdened thee for thine honor: The queen stood by on thy right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, And arrayed in diverse colors.

¹¹ Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; Forget also thy people, and thy father’s house.

¹² Because the king has desired thy beauty; For he is thy Lord.

¹³ And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; The rich of the people of the land shall supplicate thy favor.

¹⁴ All her glory is that of the daughter of the king of Heshbon, Robed as she is in golden fringed garments,

¹⁵ in embroidered clothing: Virgins shall be brought to the king after her: Her fellows shall be brought to thee.

¹⁶ They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: They shall be led into the king’s temple.

¹⁷ Instead of thy fathers children are born to thee: Thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.

¹⁸ They shall make mention of thy name from generation to generation: Therefore shall the nations give thanks to thee Forever, even forever and ever.

⁹ Yet now thou hast cast us off, and put us to shame; Thou goest not forth with our armies.

¹⁰ Thou makest us turn back from the enemy, And they who hate us make our goods their prey.

¹¹ Thou makest us like sheep destined for food, And scatterest us among the nations.

¹² Thou sellest thy people for nought, And increasest not thy wealth by their price.

¹³ Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a derision to those who are around us.

¹⁴ Thou makest us a byword among the nations, And causest the people to shake their heads at us.

¹⁵ My ignominy is continually before me, And shame covereth my face,

¹⁶ On account of the voice of the scoffer and the reviler, And on account of the enemy and the avenger.

¹⁷ All this hath come upon us; Yet have we not forgotten thee, Nor have we been false to thy covenant.

¹⁸ Our hearts, have not wandered from thee, Nor have our feet gone out of thy path;

¹⁴ Thou hast set or put us into like-ness to heathen men; and wagging of the head among peoples.

¹⁵ All day my shame is against me; and the shame of my face covered me.

¹⁶ From the voice of the despiser, and evil speaker; from the face of the enemy, and the pursuer.

¹⁷ All these things came on us, and we have not forgotten thee; and we did not wickedly in thy testament.

¹⁸ And our heart went not away behind; and thou hast not bowed away our paths from thy way.

¹⁹ For thou hast made us low in the place of torment; and the shadow of death covered us.

²⁰ If we forgat the name of our God; and if we held forth our hands to an alien God.

²¹ Whether God shall not seek these things? for he knoweth the hid things of heart.

²² For why we be slain all day for thee; we be deemed as sheep of slaying.

²³ Lord, rise up, why sleepest thou? rise up, and put not us away into the end.

²⁴ Why turnest thou away thy face? thou forgettest our poverty, and our tribulation.

²⁵ For our life is made low in dust; our womb is glued together in the earth.

⁹ But now thou hast put us aback, and hast shamed us; and thou, Lord, shalt not go out in our virtues. (But now thou hast rejected us, and hast humbled us; and O Lord, thou no longer goeth out with our hosts, or our armies.)

¹⁰ Thou hast turned us away behind after our enemies; and they, that hated us, ravished diversely to themselves. (Thou hast made us turn back, or run away, from our enemies; and those, who hate us, took for themselves what was ours.)

¹¹ Thou hast given us as sheep of meats; and among heathen men thou hast scattered us. (Thou hast given us up like sheep for meat, or for food; and thou hast scattered us among the heathen.)

¹² Thou hast sold thy people without price; and multitude there was not in the (ex)changings of them. (Thou hast sold thy people for nothing; and there was no profit from their sale.)

¹³ Thou hast set us (as a) shame to our neighbours; mocking and scorn to them that be in our compass. (Thou hast made us a shame, or a reproach, to our neighbours; a mockery, and scorned by those who be all around us.)

¹⁴ Thou hast set us into likeness to heathen men; and stirring of the head/and wagging of (the) head among peoples. (Thou hast made us into a likeness, or a byword, to the heathen; and they shook their heads over us among the nations.)

¹⁵ All day my shame is against me; and the shame of my face covered me. (All day long my shame is before me; and the shame on my face covered me.)

¹⁶ From the voice of the despiser, and evil speaker; from the face of the enemy, and the pursuer. (From the voice of him who despiseth, and speaketh evil; from before the enemy, and the pursuer.)

¹⁷ All these things came on us, and we have not forgotten thee; and we did not wickedly in thy testament. (All these things came upon us, but we did not forget thee; and we have not broken thy covenant.)

¹⁸ And our heart went not away behind; and thou hast (not) bowed away our paths from thy way. (And our hearts did not turn away from thee or And our hearts did not turn back from thee; and our steps have not turned away from thy way.)

¹⁹ For thou hast made us low in the place of torment; and the shadow of death covered us. (Though thou hast made us low, or hast humbled us, in the place of torment; and hast covered us with the shadow of death.)

²⁰ If we forgat the name of our God; and if we held forth our hands to an alien God. (And if we had forgotten the name of our God; or if we had held forth our hands to a foreign, or another, god;)

²¹ Whether God shall not seek these things? for he knoweth the hid things of heart. (shall not God seek out these things? for he knoweth the hidden things of the heart.)

²² For why we be slain all day for thee; we be deemed as sheep of slaying. (But we be killed all day long for thee; we be judged, or treated, like sheep for the slaughter.)

²³ Lord, rise up, why sleepest thou? rise up, and put not us away into the end, (or rise up, and do not shun us forever).

²⁴ Why turnest thou away thy face? thou forgettest our poverty, and our tribulation. (Why turnest thou away thy face? forgettest thou our poverty, and all our troubles?)

²⁵ For our life is made low in dust; our womb is glued together in the earth. (For our life is brought down low into the dust; our womb is glued together with the earth or and we lie flat on our backs.)

⁹ In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.

¹⁰ Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.

¹¹ Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.

¹² Thou sellest Thy people — without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.

¹³ Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.

¹⁴ Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.

¹⁵ All the day my confusion is before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.

¹⁶ Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.

¹⁷ All this met us, and we did not forget Thee, Nor have we dealt falsely in Thy covenant.

¹⁸ We turn not backward our heart, Nor turn aside doth our step from Thy path.

¹⁹ But Thou hast smitten us in a place of dragons, And dost cover us over with death-shade.
