Help us?

Psalms 44:7-16 in American Standard Version (1901)

7 But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And hast put them to shame that hate us.
8 In God have we made our boast all the day long, And we will give thanks unto thy name for ever. Selah
9 But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.
11 Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food, And hast scattered us among the nations.
12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, And hast not increased thy wealth by their price.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.
15 All the day long is my dishonor before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth, By reason of the enemy and the avenger.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

7 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness.
8 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness beyond thy fellows.
9 Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia are exhaled from thy garments, and out of the ivory palaces,
10 with which kings' daughters have gladdened thee for thine honour: the queen stood by on thy right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, and arrayed in divers colours.
11 Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; forget also thy people, and thy father's house.
12 Because the king has desired thy beauty; for he is thy Lord.
13 And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; the rich of the people of the land shall supplicate thy favour.
14 All her glory is that of the daughter of the king of Esebon, robed as she is in golden fringed garments,
15 in embroidered clothing: virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to thee.
16 They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king's temple.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Translation for Translators

7 No, it is you who have rescued us from our enemies, it is you who have caused those who hate us to become ashamed because they were defeated.
8 We have continually boasted about what God has done for us, and we will thank him MTY forever.
9 But now you have rejected us and caused us to be disgraced; when our armies march out to fight a battle, you no longer go with them.
10 You have caused us to run away from our enemies, with the result that they captured the things that belonged to us.
11 You have allowed us to become like MET sheep that were ready to be slaughtered; you scattered us far away among other nations.
12 It is as though MET you sold us, your people, to our enemies for a very small price, and you did not gain much profit from selling us!
13 People who live in nations near us make fun of us; they laugh at us and deride/belittle us.
14 They make jokes using the name of our country, they shake their heads to indicate that they despise us.
15 All day I feel disgraced; from seeing my face, people know that I am ashamed.
16 I hear what those who sneer at me and revile me say; I am ashamed in front of my enemies and those who want to harm me.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Bible in Basic English

7 But it is you who have been our saviour from those who were against us, and have put to shame those who had hate for us.
8 Our pride is in God at all times, to his name we give praise for ever. (Selah.)
9 But now you have sent us away from you, and put us to shame; you do not go out with our armies.
10 Because of this we are turned back by the attacker: those who have hate for us take our goods for themselves.
11 You have made us like sheep which are taken for meat; we are put to flight among the nations.
12 You let your people go for nothing; your wealth is not increased by their price.
13 You have made us to be looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and shamed by those who are round about us.
14 Our name is a word of shame among the nations, a sign for the shaking of heads among the peoples.
15 My downfall is ever before me, and I am covered with the shame of my face;
16 Because of the voice of him who says sharp and bitter words; because of the hater and him who is the instrument of punishment.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Douay-Rheims 1899

7 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.
8 Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
9 Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of which
10 The daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.
11 Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father’s house.
12 And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.
13 And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.
14 All the glory of the king’s daughter is within in golden borders,
15 Clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.
16 They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.

12 Thou sellest thy people for naught, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to them that are around us.
14 Thou makest us a by-word among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
Psalms 44 in Noah Webster Bible

Psalms 44:7-16 in World Messianic Bible

7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
8 In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.
9 But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.
10 You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
11 You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
12 You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15 All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
16 at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling

7 For thou hast saved us from men tormenting us; and thou hast shamed men hating us.
8 We shall be pleased in God all day; and in thy name we shall acknowledge to thee into the world.
9 But now thou hast put us aback, and hast shamed us; and thou, Lord, shalt not go out in our virtues.
10 Thou hast turned us away behind after our enemies; and they, that hated us, ravished diversely to themselves.
11 Thou hast given us as sheep of meats; and among heathen men thou hast scattered us.
12 Thou hast sold thy people without price; and multitude there was not in the exchangings of them.
13 Thou hast set or put us as a shame to our neighbours; mocking and scorn to them that be in our compass.
14 Thou hast set or put us into like-ness to heathen men; and wagging of the head among peoples.
15 All day my shame is against me; and the shame of my face covered me.
16 From the voice of the despiser, and evil speaker; from the face of the enemy, and the pursuer.

Psalms 44:7-16 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

7 For thou hast saved us from men tormenting us; and thou hast shamed men hating us.
8 We shall be pleased in God all day; and in thy name we shall acknowledge to thee into the world. (We shall glory in God all day long; and we shall praise thy name forever.)
9 But now thou hast put us aback, and hast shamed us; and thou, Lord, shalt not go out in our virtues. (But now thou hast rejected us, and hast humbled us; and O Lord, thou no longer goeth out with our hosts, or our armies.)
10 Thou hast turned us away behind after our enemies; and they, that hated us, ravished diversely to themselves. (Thou hast made us turn back, or run away, from our enemies; and those, who hate us, took for themselves what was ours.)
11 Thou hast given us as sheep of meats; and among heathen men thou hast scattered us. (Thou hast given us up like sheep for meat, or for food; and thou hast scattered us among the heathen.)
12 Thou hast sold thy people without price; and multitude there was not in the (ex)changings of them. (Thou hast sold thy people for nothing; and there was no profit from their sale.)
13 Thou hast set us (as a) shame to our neighbours; mocking and scorn to them that be in our compass. (Thou hast made us a shame, or a reproach, to our neighbours; a mockery, and scorned by those who be all around us.)
14 Thou hast set us into likeness to heathen men; and stirring of the head/and wagging of (the) head among peoples. (Thou hast made us into a likeness, or a byword, to the heathen; and they shook their heads over us among the nations.)
15 All day my shame is against me; and the shame of my face covered me. (All day long my shame is before me; and the shame on my face covered me.)
16 From the voice of the despiser, and evil speaker; from the face of the enemy, and the pursuer. (From the voice of him who despiseth, and speaketh evil; from before the enemy, and the pursuer.)

Psalms 44:7-16 in Young's Literal Translation

7 For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.
8 In God we have boasted all the day, And Thy name to the age we thank. Selah.
9 In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.
10 Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.
11 Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.
12 Thou sellest Thy people — without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.
14 Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.
15 All the day my confusion is before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.
16 Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.
