¹⁹ That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.

²⁰ If we have forgotten the name of our God, Or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

²¹ Will not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

²³ Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off for ever.

²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

²⁵ For our soul is bowed down to the dust: Our body cleaveth unto the earth.

²⁶ Rise up for our help, And redeem us for thy lovingkindness’ sake.

²⁰ If we had forgotten to worship MTY our God, or if we had spread out our hands to worship a foreign god,

²¹ you certainly would have known that, because you know even what we secretly think.

²² But it is because we belong to you, that our enemies are constantly killing us. They act toward us as though we were only sheep to be slaughtered.

²³ So, Yahweh, arise! Why are you asleep RHQ? Get up! Do not reject us forever!

²⁴ Why are you not looking at us? Why are you forgetting that we are suffering and being oppressed by our enemies?

²⁵ We are pushed down to the ground and we cannot get up.

²⁶ Arise, and come and help us! Rescue us because you faithfully love us!

²² Truly, because of you we are put to death every day; we are numbered like sheep for destruction.

²³ Why are you sleeping, O Lord? awake! and come to our help, do not give us up for ever.

²⁴ Why is your face covered, and why do you give no thought to our trouble and our cruel fate?

²⁵ For our souls are crushed down to the dust: our bodies are stretched out on the earth.

²⁶ Up! and come to our help, and give us salvation because of your mercy.

¹⁹ Even so, you crushed us, and made us into a jackal's den. You have covered us with the darkness of death.

²⁰ If we had forgotten the name of our God, or worshiped other gods,

²¹ wouldn't God have been aware of this, because he knows everyone's thoughts?

²² But because of you we are killed all day long; we're considered just sheep to be slaughtered.

²³ Lord, wake up! Why are you sleeping? Get up! Don't turn your back on us forever!

²⁴ Why do you look away from us and take no notice of our suffering and misery?

²⁵ We lie ruined in the dust, our bodies face down in the dirt.

²⁶ Stand up! Come and help us! Save us because of your trustworthy love!

¹⁹ Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.

²⁰ If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,

²¹ Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.

²³ Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.

²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?

²⁵ For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.

²⁶ Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.

²² (44:23) But for thy sake are we slain all the day; we are counted as flocks destined for slaughter.

²³ (44:24) Awake, wherefore wilt thou sleep, O Lord? arise, abandon us not for ever.

²⁴ (44:25) Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, wilt thou forget our misery, and our oppression?

²⁵ (44:26) For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaveth unto the earth.

²⁶ (44:27) Arise unto our help, and redeem us for the sake of thy kindness.

¹⁹ Though thou hast crushed us in a land of jackals, And covered us with thick darkness.

²⁰ If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched forth our hands to a strange God,

²¹ Surely God would search it out; For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²² But for thy sake we are killed all the day; We are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

²³ Awake! why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise! cast us not off for ever!

²¹ would God not have searched this out? For he knows the heart and its secrets.

²³ Rouse yourself, why do you sleep Lord? Awake, cast us not off forever.

²⁴ Why do you hide your face, forgetting our stress and our misery?

²⁵ For we have sunk down to the dust, our bodies cling to the ground.

²⁵ For we have melted away into the dust; our bodies cling to the earth.

²² For why we be slain all day for thee; we be deemed as sheep of slaying.

²³ Lord, rise up, why sleepest thou? rise up, and put not us away into the end.

²⁴ Why turnest thou away thy face? thou forgettest our poverty, and our tribulation.

²⁵ For our life is made low in dust; our womb is glued together in the earth.

²⁶ Lord, rise up thou, and help us; and again-buy us for thy name.

¹⁹ For thou hast made us low in the place of torment; and the shadow of death covered us. (Though thou hast made us low, or hast humbled us, in the place of torment; and hast covered us with the shadow of death.)

²⁰ If we forgat the name of our God; and if we held forth our hands to an alien God. (And if we had forgotten the name of our God; or if we had held forth our hands to a foreign, or another, god;)

²¹ Whether God shall not seek these things? for he knoweth the hid things of heart. (shall not God seek out these things? for he knoweth the hidden things of the heart.)

²² For why we be slain all day for thee; we be deemed as sheep of slaying. (But we be killed all day long for thee; we be judged, or treated, like sheep for the slaughter.)

²³ Lord, rise up, why sleepest thou? rise up, and put not us away into the end, (or rise up, and do not shun us forever).

²⁴ Why turnest thou away thy face? thou forgettest our poverty, and our tribulation. (Why turnest thou away thy face? forgettest thou our poverty, and all our troubles?)

²⁵ For our life is made low in dust; our womb is glued together in the earth. (For our life is brought down low into the dust; our womb is glued together with the earth or and we lie flat on our backs.)

²⁶ Lord, rise up thou, and help us; and again-buy us for thy name. (Lord, rise thou up, and help us; and redeem us for the sake of thy name.)
