Psalms 41:7-12 in English

⁷ All that hate me whisper together against me; Against me do they devise my hurt.

⁸ An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him; And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

⁹ Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁰ But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up, That I may requite them.

¹¹ By this I know that thou delightest in me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹² And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever.

⁷ O my God, my soul has been troubled within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Ermonites, from the little hill.

⁸ Deep calls to deep at the voice of thy cataracts: all thy billows and thy waves have gone over me.

⁹ By day the Lord will command his mercy, and manifest it by night: with me is prayer to the God of my life.

¹⁰ I will say to God, Thou art my helper; why hast thou forgotten me? wherefore do I go sad of countenance, while the enemy oppresses me?

¹¹ While my bones were breaking, they that afflicted me reproached me; while they said to me daily, Where is thy God?

¹² Wherefore art thou very sad, O my soul? and wherefore dost thou trouble me? hope in God; for I will give thanks to him; he is the health of my countenance, and my God.

⁷ All those who hate me whisper to others about me, and they hope/desire that very bad things will happen to me.

⁸ They say, “He will soon die because of his being sick; he will never get up from his bed before he dies.”

⁹ Even my best friend, whom I trusted very much, who often ate with me, has ◄betrayed me/put me into my enemies' hands► IDM.

¹⁰ But Yahweh, be merciful to me, and enable me to become healthy again. When you do that, I will be able to ◄pay back my enemies/get revenge on my enemies/cause my enemies to suffer like they caused me to suffer►.

¹¹ If you enable me to do that, with the result that my enemies do not defeat me, I will know that you are pleased with me.

¹² I will know that it is because I have done what is right that you have helped me, and I will know that you will let me be with you forever.

¹⁰ But you, O Lord, have mercy on me, lifting me up, so that I may give them their punishment.

¹¹ By this I see that you have pleasure in me, because my hater does not overcome me.

¹² And as for me, you are my support in my righteousness, giving me a place before your face for ever.

⁸ A thing of Belial cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he is laid down, he will rise up no more.

⁹ Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I confided, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁰ But thou, Jehovah, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

¹¹ By this I know that thou delightest in me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹² But as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

⁷ And my God. My soul is troubled within myself: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill.

⁸ Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me.

⁹ In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life.

¹⁰ I will say to God: Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me?

¹¹ Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day be day: Where is thy God?

¹² Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance, and my God.

⁷ All who hate me talk in whispers about my condition, hoping for the worst.

⁸ “He's been cursed with some terrible disease,” they say. “Now he's bed-ridden he'll never recover!”

⁹ Even my best friend, the one I trusted, who shared meals with me—even he has turned against me.

¹⁰ But you Lord, please be gracious to me, make me well so I can repay them!

¹¹ I know you are pleased with me because you have not let my enemies win and shout in triumph over me.

¹² You have supported me because of my integrity, you have brought me into your presence forever.

⁷ All they that hate me, whisper together against me: euen against me do they imagine mine hurt.

⁸ A mischiefe is light vpon him, and he that lyeth, shall no more rise.

⁹ Yea, my familiar friend, whom I trusted, which did eate of my bread, hath lifted vp the heele against me.

¹⁰ Therefore, O Lord, haue mercy vpon mee, and raise me vp: so I shall reward them.

¹¹ By this I know that thou fauourest me, because mine enemie doth not triumph against me.

¹² And as for me, thou vpholdest me in mine integritie, and doest set me before thy face for euer.

⁸ (41-9) 'An evil thing cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he lieth, he shall rise up no more.'

⁹ (41-10) Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁰ (41-11) But Thou, O LORD, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

¹¹ (41-12) By this I know that Thou delightest in me, that mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹² (41-13) And as for me, Thou upholdest me because of mine integrity, and settest me before Thy face for ever.

⁷ (41:8) Altogether whisper against me all that hate me: against me do they devise my injury.

⁸ (41:9) “His godless deed say they is poured out over him: as he lieth there he will never more rise up again.”

⁹ (41:10) Yea, even the man that should have sought my welfare, in whom I trusted, who eateth my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁰ (41:11) But thou, O Lord, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite it unto them.

¹¹ (41:12) By this do I know that thou art pleased with me, that my enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹² (41:13) But as for me, thou upholdest me in my integrity, and placest me before thy presence for ever.

¹⁰ But do thou, O LORD! have pity upon me; Raise me up, that I may requite them!

¹¹ By this I know that thou favorest me, Because my enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹² As for me, thou wilt uphold me in my integrity; Thou wilt set me before thy face for ever!

⁷ In secret they whisper together against me, all those who hate me plot evil against me.

⁸ “Some fatal disease has fastened upon him; and now that he lies, he will rise up no more.”

⁹ My most trusted friend, on whom I relied, who ate of my bread, has turned against me.

¹⁰ But do you, Lord, graciously raise me up, that I may pay them their due reward.

¹¹ By this will I know you delight in me: if my foes may not shout over me in triumph.

¹² For my innocence you uphold me, and set me forever before your face.

¹⁰ But you, Yahweh, have mercy on me and raise me up so that I may pay them back.

¹¹ By this I know that you delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹² As for me, you support me in my integrity and will keep me before your face forever.

⁷ All mine enemies backbited privily against me; against me they thought evils to me.

⁸ They ordained an evil word against me; Whether he that sleepeth, shall not lie to, that he rise again?

⁹ For why the man of my peace, in whom I hoped, he that ate my loaves; made great deceit on me.

¹⁰ But thou, Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again; and I shall yield to them.

¹¹ In this thing I knew, that thou wouldest or delightest in me; for mine enemy shall not have joy on me.

¹² Forsooth thou hast taken me up for mine innocence; and hast confirmed me in thy sight without end.

⁷ All mine enemies backbited privily against me; against me they thought evils to me. (All my enemies secretly backbite me; they think up evil things to do to me.)

⁸ They ordained an evil word against me; Whether he that sleepeth, shall not lie to, that he rise again? (They ordained an evil word against me; and they said, He who sleepeth, now that he lieth down, shall not rise up again.)

⁹ For why the man of my peace, in whom I hoped, he that ate my loaves; made great deceit on me. (For my friend, in whom I trusted, he who ate my bread; brought forth great deceptions, or lies, against me.)

¹⁰ But thou, Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me (up) again; and I shall yield to them (or and I shall repay them).

¹¹ In this thing I knew, that thou wouldest me; for mine enemy shall not have joy on me. (And by this I shall know that thou delightest in me; and that my enemy shall not have any joy over me.)

¹² Forsooth thou hast taken me up for (mine) innocence; and hast confirmed me in thy sight into without end. (For thou hast upheld me because of my innocence; and will keep me before thee forever.)

⁷ All hating me whisper together against me, Against me they devise evil to me:

⁸ A thing of Belial is poured out on him, And because he lay down he riseth not again.

⁹ Even mine ally, in whom I trusted, One eating my bread, made great the heel against me,

¹⁰ And Thou, Jehovah, favour me, And cause me to rise, And I give recompence to them.

¹¹ By this I have known, That Thou hast delighted in me, Because my enemy shouteth not over me.

¹² As to me, in mine integrity, Thou hast taken hold upon me, And causest me to stand before Thee to the age.
