Psalms 40:7-9 in English

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I am come; In the roll of the book it is written of me:

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God; Yea, thy law is within my heart.

⁹ I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly; Lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Jehovah, thou knowest.

⁷ And if he came to see me, his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.

⁸ All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.

⁹ They denounced a wicked word against me, saying, Now that he lies, shall he not rise up again?

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

⁹ I have published righteousness in the great congregation; lo, I will not refrain my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

⁷ So I said to you, “Yahweh, here I am, to do the things that have been written in the scroll that contains your laws, things that you want me to do.”

⁸ O my God, I delight to do what you desire; I keep your laws within my inner being.

⁹ Whenever all your people are gathered, I have told them about how you save us. Yahweh, you know that I have not been afraid to tell that to them.

⁷ Then I said, See, I come; it is recorded of me in the roll of the book,

⁸ My delight is to do your pleasure, O my God; truly, your law is in my heart.

⁹ I have given news of righteousness in the great meeting; O Lord, you have knowledge that I have not kept back my words.

⁷ Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me —

⁸ To do thy good pleasure, my God, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart.

⁹ I have published righteousness in the great congregation: behold, I have not withheld my lips, Jehovah, thou knowest.

⁷ And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things: his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose.

⁸ All my enemies whispered together against me: they devised evils to me.

⁹ They determined against me an unjust word: shall he that sleepeth rise again no more?

⁷ Then I said, “Look! Here I am! I've come to do what is written about me in the scroll of the Book.

⁸ I am pleased to do your will, my God—your Law guides my mind.”

⁹ I have announced the good news of salvation to the whole congregation. I don't keep quiet, Lord, as you know.

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come: for in the rolle of the booke it is written of me,

⁸ I desired to doe thy good will, O my God: yea, thy Lawe is within mine heart.

⁹ I haue declared thy righteousnesse in the great Congregation: loe, I will not refraine my lippes: O Lord, thou knowest.

⁷ (40-8) Then said I: 'Lo, I am come with the roll of a book which is prescribed for me;

⁸ (40-9) I delight to do Thy will, O my God; yea, Thy law is in my inmost parts.'

⁹ (40-10) I have preached righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O LORD, Thou knowest.

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come: In the volume of the book it is written of me,

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.

⁸ (40:9) To fulfill thy will, O my God, do I desire; and thy law is within my heart.

⁹ (40:10) I announce thy righteousness in the great assembly: lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Lord, thou well knowest it.

⁷ And if he came to see me, his heart spoke vainly; He gathered iniquity to himself; He went forth and spoke in like manner.

⁷ Therefore I said, “Lo, I come; In the scroll of the book it is prescribed to me;

⁸ O my God! to do thy will is my delight, And thy law dwelleth in my heart!”

⁹ I have proclaimed thy righteousness in the great assembly; Lo, I have not restrained my lips, O LORD! thou knowest!

⁷ Then said I, “Here I am, as the roll of the book has enjoined.

⁸ My delight, O God, is to do your will, and your law is within my heart.”

⁹ Well, O Lord, you know that, with lips unrestrained, your righteousness I told in the great congregation,

⁷ Then said I, “Here I am, as the roll of the book has enjoined.

⁷ So then I said, “Behold, I have come! In the scroll of a book it is written about me.

⁸ I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your Torah ·Teaching· is within my heart.”

⁹ I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, Adonai , you know.

⁷ Then said I, “See, I have come; it is written about me in the scroll of the document.

⁸ I delight to do your will, my God; your laws are in my heart.”

⁹ I have proclaimed good news of your righteousness in the great assembly; Yahweh, you know that my lips have not kept back from doing this.

⁷ Then I said, “Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.

⁸ I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart.”

⁹ I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, Yahweh, you know.

⁷ then I said, Lo! I come. In the head of the book it is written of me,

⁸ that I should do thy will; my God, I would also to do it; and thy law in the midst of mine heart.

⁹ I told thy rightfulness or rightwise-ness in a great church; lo! I shall not refrain my lips, Lord, thou knewest.

⁷ then I said, Lo! I come. In the head of the book it is written of me, (and so I said, Behold! I am here. From the beginning, the Book (of thy Law) was written for me,)

⁸ that I should do thy will; my God, I would/I desired also to do (it); and thy law in the midst of mine heart. (so that I would do thy will; my God, I desire to do it; and thy Law is there in the midst of my heart.)

⁹ I told thy rightfulness in a great church; lo! I shall not refrain my lips, Lord, thou knewest. (I told of thy righteousness in the great congregation; behold! I shall not refrain my lips, Lord, thou knowest that.)

⁷ Then said I, 'Lo, I have come,' In the roll of the book it is written of me,

⁸ To do Thy pleasure, my God, I have delighted, And Thy law is within my heart.

⁹ I have proclaimed tidings of righteousness In the great assembly, lo, my lips I restrain not, O Jehovah, Thou hast known.
