Help us?

Psalms 40:2-8 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in Jehovah.
4 Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be set in order unto thee; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I am come; In the roll of the book it is written of me:
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God; Yea, thy law is within my heart.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

2 Blessed is the man who thinks on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day.
3 May the Lord preserve him and keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy.
4 May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; thou hast made all his bed in his sickness.
5 I said, O Lord, have mercy upon me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
6 Mine enemies have spoken evil against me, saying, When shall he die, and his name perish?
7 And if he came to see me, his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.
8 All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Translation for Translators

2 When I had many troubles, it was as though I was in a deep pit. But he lifted me up out of the mud and slime of that pit; he set my feet on a solid rock, and enabled me to walk ◄safely/without falling►.
3 He has given me a new song to sing, a song to praise him who is our God. Many people will find out what he has done for me, and they will revere and trust him.
4 Yahweh is pleased with those who trust him, those who do not trust in idols or join with those who worship those false gods.
5 O Yahweh, my God, you have done many wonderful things! No one can list all the wonderful things that you have planned for us. If I tried to tell others about all those wonderful things, I would not be able to, because there would be too many for me to mention.
6 Various kinds of sacrifices and other offerings are not the only things that delight you. You have enabled me to understand that very well IDM. Animals burned on the altar and other offerings are not all that you require for sins to be forgiven.
7 So I said to you, “Yahweh, here I am, to do the things that have been written in the scroll that contains your laws, things that you want me to do.”
8 O my God, I delight to do what you desire; I keep your laws within my inner being.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Bible in Basic English

2 He took me up out of a deep waste place, out of the soft and sticky earth; he put my feet on a rock, and made my steps certain.
3 And he put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God; numbers have seen it with fear, and put their faith in the Lord.
4 Happy is the man who has faith in the Lord, and does not give honour to the men of pride or to those who are turned away to deceit.
5 O Lord my God, great are the wonders which you have done in your thought for us; it is not possible to put them out in order before you; when I would give an account of them, their number is greater than I may say.
6 You had no desire for offerings of beasts or fruits of the earth; ears you made for me: for burned offerings and sin offerings you made no request.
7 Then I said, See, I come; it is recorded of me in the roll of the book,
8 My delight is to do your pleasure, O my God; truly, your law is in my heart.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Darby Translation

2 And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings:
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, praise unto our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall confide in Jehovah.
4 Blessed is the man that hath made Jehovah his confidence, and turneth not to the proud, and to such as turn aside to lies.
5 Thou, O Jehovah my God, hast multiplied thy marvellous works, and thy thoughts toward us: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee; would I declare and speak them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire: ears hast thou prepared me. Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded;
7 Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me —
8 To do thy good pleasure, my God, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Douay-Rheims 1899

2 Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the evil day.
3 The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth: and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
4 The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow: thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.
5 I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me: heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.
6 My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish?
7 And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things: his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose.
8 All my enemies whispered together against me: they devised evils to me.
Psalms 40 in Douay-Rheims 1899

Psalms 40:2-8 in Free Bible Version

2 He pulled me out of the pit of destruction, out from the mud and the slime. He set me on a rock, and gave me a safe place to stand.
3 He gave me a new song to sing, a song of praise to our God. Many people will see and be in awe, and they will put their trust in him.
4 Happy are those who trust in the Lord, who do not look for help from the arrogant or from those who worship idols.
5 Lord my God, you have done so many wonderful things for us, and you have so many plans for us. No one compares to you. I want to tell all that you've done—blessings too many to count.
6 You don't want sacrifices and offerings. Now you have helped me understand—you're not asking for burnt offerings or sin offerings.
7 Then I said, “Look! Here I am! I've come to do what is written about me in the scroll of the Book.
8 I am pleased to do your will, my God—your Law guides my mind.”

5 My Lord God, thou hast made thy marvels many; and in thy thoughts none is, that is like thee toward us. I told and I spake; and they be multiplied above number.
6 Thou wouldest or desiredest not sacrifice and offering; but thou madest perfectly ears to me. Thou askedest not burnt sacrifice, and other sacrifice for sin;
7 then I said, Lo! I come. In the head of the book it is written of me,
8 that I should do thy will; my God, I would also to do it; and thy law in the midst of mine heart.

Psalms 40:2-8 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

2 and he led out me from the pit of wretchedness, and from the filth of dregs. And he ordained my feet on a stone; and he (ad)dressed my goings. (and he led me out of the pit of wretchedness, and out of the filth of dregs. And he ordained my feet upon a stone; and he directed my goings.)
3 And he sent into my mouth a new song; a song to our God. Many men shall see, and dread; and shall hope in the Lord. (And he put a new song in my mouth; a song to our God. And many shall see this, and shall have fear or and shall be in awe; and then they shall put their trust in the Lord.)
4 Blessed is the man, of whom the name of the Lord is his hope; and he beheld not into vanities, and into false vengeances. (Happyis the person, for whom the Lord’s name is his hope; and he looketh not to idols, or to false gods.)
5 My Lord God, thou hast made thy marvels many; and in thy thoughts none is, that is like thee (toward us). I told and I spake; and they be multiplied above number. (My Lord God, thou hast done many marvellous deeds; and there is no one like thee, for all thy thoughts be for our benefit. I have told about them; yea, I have spoken about them, and they be multiplied far above number.)
6 Thou wouldest not sacrifice and offering; but thou madest perfectly ears to me. Thou askedest not burnt sacrifice, and other sacrifice for sin; (Thou desiredest not sacrifices and offerings; but thou hast given me ears to hear thee. Thou askedest not for burnt sacrifices, and other sacrifices for sin;)
7 then I said, Lo! I come. In the head of the book it is written of me, (and so I said, Behold! I am here. From the beginning, the Book (of thy Law) was written for me,)
8 that I should do thy will; my God, I would/I desired also to do (it); and thy law in the midst of mine heart. (so that I would do thy will; my God, I desire to do it; and thy Law is there in the midst of my heart.)

Psalms 40:2-8 in Young's Literal Translation

2 And He doth cause me to come up From a pit of desolation — from mire of mud, And He raiseth up on a rock my feet, He is establishing my steps.
3 And He putteth in my mouth a new song, 'Praise to our God.' Many do see and fear, and trust in Jehovah.
4 O the happiness of the man Who hath made Jehovah his trust, And hath not turned unto the proud, And those turning aside to lies.
5 Much hast Thou done, Jehovah my God; Thy wonders and Thy thoughts toward us, There is none to arrange unto Thee, I declare and speak: They have been more than to be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and present Thou hast not desired, Ears Thou hast prepared for me, Burnt and sin-offering Thou hast not asked.
7 Then said I, 'Lo, I have come,' In the roll of the book it is written of me,
8 To do Thy pleasure, my God, I have delighted, And Thy law is within my heart.
