¹⁶ For I said, Lest they rejoice over me: When my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

¹⁷ For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.

¹⁸ For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

¹⁹ But mine enemies are lively, and are strong; And they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

²⁰ They also that render evil for good Are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.

²¹ Forsake me not, O Jehovah: O my God, be not far from me.

¹⁶ I said to you, “Do not cause me to die, with the result that my enemies will rejoice! Do not cause me to stumble, with the result that they will be very happy!”

¹⁷ I say that because I am about to fall down, and I constantly have pain.

¹⁸ I confess the wrong things that I have done; I am very sorry for the sins that I have committed.

¹⁹ My enemies are healthy and strong; there are many people who hate me for no reason.

²⁰ Those who do evil things to me in return for my doing good things to them oppose me because I try to do what is right.

²¹ Yahweh, do not abandon me! My God, do not stay far from me!

¹⁶ For I said, “Don’t let them gloat over me, or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips.”

¹⁸ I will make clear my wrongdoing, with sorrow in my heart for my sin.

¹⁹ But they are strong who have hate for me without cause: those who are against me falsely are increased in numbers.

²⁰ They give me back evil for good; they are my haters because I go after the thing which is right.

²¹ Do not give me up, O Lord; O my God, be near to me.

²¹ Forsake me not, Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me.

¹⁶ I'm asking you, Lord, please don't let my enemies gloat over me, don't let them be glad when I trip up.

¹⁷ For I'm about ready to collapse—the pain never stops.

¹⁸ I do confess my sins; I am terribly sorry for what I've done.

¹⁹ I have many powerful enemies—they are very active, hating me for no reason.

²⁰ They pay me back evil for good; they accuse me for the good I try to do.

²¹ Don't give up on me, my Lord and my God, don't stay away from me.

¹⁶ For I said, Heare me, least they reioyce ouer me: for when my foote slippeth, they extol themselues against me.

¹⁷ Surely I am ready to halte, and my sorow is euer before me.

¹⁸ When I declare my paine, and am sory for my sinne,

¹⁹ Then mine enemies are aliue and are mightie, and they that hate me wrongfully are many.

²⁰ They also, that rewarde euill for good, are mine aduersaries, because I follow goodnesse.

²¹ Forsake me not, O Lord: be not thou farre from me, my God.

¹⁶ (38-17) For I said: 'Lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.'

¹⁷ (38-18) For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.

¹⁸ (38-19) For I do declare mine iniquity; I am full of care because of my sin.

¹⁹ (38-20) But mine enemies are strong in health; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

²⁰ (38-21) They also that repay evil for good are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.

²¹ (38-22) Forsake me not, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me.

¹⁸ (38:19) For I will tell of my iniquity; I will be grieved because of my sin.

¹⁹ (38:20) But my enemies are strong in life; and numerous are those that hate me wrongfully;

²⁰ (38:21) They also that repay me evil in lieu of good; they hate me bitterly because I pursue what is good.

²¹ (38:22) Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.

¹⁶ For I have prayed, “Let them not rejoice over me; Let them not exult at the slipping of my feet!”

¹⁷ For I am ready to fall, And my pain doth never leave me;

¹⁸ For I confess my iniquity, And am troubled on account of my sin.

¹⁹ But my enemies flourish and are strong; They who hate me without cause are multiplied.

²⁰ They who repay good with evil are my enemies, Because I follow that which is good.

²¹ Forsake me not, O LORD! O my God! be not far from me!

¹⁶ when I utter the hope that those who made scorn of my tottering feet may not rejoice over me.

¹⁷ For I am ready to fall, my pain forsakes me never.

¹⁸ I acknowledge my guilt, I am anxious because of my sin:

¹⁹ My wanton assailants are strong, those who wrongfully hate me are many,

²⁰ who render me evil for good, and oppose me, because I make good my goal.

²¹ Do not forsake me, O Lord; my God, be not far from me.

¹⁷ For I am about to stumble, and I am in constant pain.

¹⁸ I confess my guilt; I am concerned about my sin.

¹⁹ But my enemies are numerous; those who hate me wrongfully are many.

²⁰ They repay me evil for good; they hurl accusations at me although I have pursued what is good.

²¹ Do not abandon me, Yahweh; my God, do not stay far away from me.

¹⁶ For I said, “Don’t let them gloat over me, or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips.”

¹⁷ For I am ready to beatings; and my sorrow is evermore in my sight.

¹⁸ For I shall tell my wickedness; and I shall think for my sin.

¹⁹ But mine enemies live, and they be confirmed on me; and they be multiplied, that hate me wickedly.

²⁰ They that yield evils for goods, backbited me; for I pursued or followed goodness.

²¹ My Lord God, forsake thou not me; go thou not away from me.

¹⁶ For I said, (Hear me), Lest any time mine enemies have joy on me; and the while my feet be moved/and while my feet were moved, they spake great things on me. (For I said, Hear me, lest any time my enemies have joy over me; for when my feet slipped, or stumbled, they spoke many things against me.)

¹⁷ For I am ready to beatings; and my sorrow is evermore in my sight. (For I am about to fall; and my sorrow is before me forevermore.)

¹⁸ For I shall tell my wickedness; and I shall think for my sin. (For I shall tell out my wickedness; and I am afraid, when I think of my sin.)

¹⁹ But mine enemies live, and they be confirmed on me; and they be multiplied, that hate me wickedly. (But my enemies live, and they be strong against me; yea, there be many who wickedly hate me.)

²⁰ They that yield evils for goods, backbited me; for I followed goodness. (Those who give back evil in return for good, backbite me; because I do what is right, or good.)

²¹ My Lord God, forsake thou not me (or do not thou desert me); go thou not away from me.

¹⁶ When I said, 'Lest they rejoice over me, In the slipping of my foot against me they magnified themselves.

¹⁷ For I am ready to halt, And my pain is before me continually.

¹⁸ For mine iniquity I declare, I am sorry for my sin.

¹⁹ And mine enemies are lively, They have been strong, and those hating me without cause, Have been multiplied.

²⁰ And those paying evil for good accuse me, Because of my pursuing good.
