Psalms 37:5-17 in English

⁵ Commit thy way unto Jehovah; Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.

⁶ And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, And thy justice as the noonday.

⁷ Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil-doing.

⁹ For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land.

¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

¹² The wicked plotteth against the just, And gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

¹³ The Lord will laugh at him; For he seeth that his day is coming.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay such as are upright in the way.

¹⁵ Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

¹⁶ Better is a little that the righteous hath Than the abundance of many wicked.

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholdeth the righteous.

⁵ For my transgressions have gone over mine head: they have pressed heavily upon me like a weighty burden.

⁶ My bruises have become noisome and corrupt, because of my foolishness.

⁷ I have been wretched and bowed down continually: I went with a mourning countenance all the day.

⁸ For my soul is filled with mockings; and there is no health in my flesh.

⁹ I have been afflicted and brought down exceedingly: I have roared for the groaning of my heart.

¹⁰ But all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hidden from thee.

¹¹ My heart is troubled, my strength has failed me; and the light of mine eyes is not with me.

¹² My friends and my neighbours drew near before me, and stood still; and my nearest of kin stood afar off.

¹³ While they pressed hard upon me that sought my soul: and they that sought my hurt spoke vanities, and devised deceits all the day.

¹⁴ But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and was as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

¹⁵ And I was as a man that hears not, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.

¹⁶ For I hoped in thee, O Lord: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

¹⁷ For I said, Lest mine enemies rejoice against me: for when my feet were moved, they spoke boastingly against me.

⁵ Commit to Yahweh all the things that you plan to do; trust in him, and he will do whatever is needed to help you.

⁶ He will show as clearly as the sunlight that you ◄are innocent/have done nothing that is wrong►; he will show as clearly as the sun at noontime SIM that all the things that you have decided are just.

⁷ Be quiet in Yahweh's presence, and wait patiently for him to do what you want him to do. Do not be bothered/upset when what evil men do is successful, when they are able to do the wicked things that they plan.

⁸ Do not be angry about what wicked people do. Do not want to punish them yourself. Do not be envious of such people because you will only harm yourself if you try to envy them.

⁹ Some day Yahweh will get rid of wicked people, but those who trust in Yahweh will live safely in the land that he has given to them.

¹⁰ Soon the wicked will disappear. If you look for them,they will be gone.

¹¹ But those who are humble will live safely in their land. They will happily enjoy living peacefully and having the other good things that Yahweh gives them.

¹² Wicked people plan to harm righteous/godly people; they snarl at them MET like wild animals.

¹³ But Yahweh laughs at them because he knows that some day MTY he will judge and punish the wicked people.

¹⁴ Wicked people pull out their swords/daggers and they put strings on their bows, ready to kill people who are poor DOU and to slaughter those who live righteously.

¹⁵ But they will be killed by their own swords/daggers, and their bows will be broken.

¹⁶ It is good to be righteous/godly even if you do not have many possessions, but it is bad to be wicked, even if you are very wealthy,

¹⁷ because Yahweh will completely take away the strength of wicked people, but he will ◄sustain/take care of► people who live righteously.

⁸ Put an end to your wrath and be no longer bitter; do not give way to angry feeling which is a cause of sin.

⁹ For the evil-doers will be cut off: but those who have faith in the Lord will have the earth for their heritage.

¹⁰ For in a short time the evil-doer will be gone: you will go searching for his place, and it will not be there.

¹¹ But the gentle will have the earth for their heritage; they will take their delight in peace without measure.

¹² The sinner has evil designs against the upright, lifting up the voice of wrath against him.

¹³ He will be laughed at by the Lord, who sees that his day is coming.

¹⁴ The evil-doers have taken out their swords, their bows are bent; for crushing the poor, and to put to death those who are upright in their ways.

¹⁵ But their swords will be turned into their hearts, and their bows will be broken.

¹⁶ The little which the good man has is better than the wealth of evil-doers.

¹⁷ For the arms of the evil-doers will be broken: but the Lord is the support of the good.

⁵ Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring it to pass;

⁶ and he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

⁷ Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass.

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself: it would be only to do evil.

⁹ For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait on Jehovah, they shall possess the land.

¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked is not; and thou considerest his place, but he is not.

¹¹ But the meek shall possess the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of prosperity.

¹² The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth his teeth against him.

¹³ The Lord laugheth at him; for he seeth that his day is coming.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the afflicted and needy, to slay those that are upright in the way:

¹⁵ their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

¹⁶ The little that the righteous hath is better than the abundance of many wicked;

¹⁷ for the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholdeth the righteous.

⁵ For my iniquities are gone over my head: and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.

⁶ My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness.

⁷ I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end: I walked sorrowful all the day long.

⁸ For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.

⁹ I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly: I roared with the groaning of my heart.

¹⁰ Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee.

¹¹ My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.

¹² My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off:

¹³ And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.

¹⁴ But I, as a deaf man, heard not: and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

¹⁵ And I became as a man that heareth not: and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.

¹⁶ For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped: thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.

¹⁷ For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me: and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.

⁵ Entrust all that you do to the Lord. Place your confidence in him and he will help you.

⁶ He will make your vindication shine like a light, the rightness of your cause like the noonday sun.

⁷ Be still in God's presence; wait patiently for him. Don't be upset over people who prosper when they carry out their evil schemes.

⁸ Give up your anger! Let go your rage! Don't get mad—it only results in evil!

⁹ For the wicked will be destroyed, and those who trust in the Lord will take possession of the land.

¹⁰ In a little while the wicked will be no more—though you look for them you won't find them.

¹¹ The humble will own the land; they will live there happily, in peace and prosperity.

¹² The wicked plot evil against those who do good, gnashing their teeth at them.

¹³ But the Lord laughs at them, for he sees their coming day of judgment.

¹⁴ The wicked draw their swords, and bend their bows to destroy the poor and needy, to kill those who live right.

¹⁵ But the swords of the wicked will slice through their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

¹⁶ It's better to do right and only have a little, than to be wicked and rich.

¹⁷ For the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord supports those who do right.

⁷ Waite patiently vpon the Lord and hope in him: fret not thy selfe for him which prospereth in his way: nor for the man that bringeth his enterprises to passe.

⁸ Cease from anger, and leaue off wrath: fret not thy selfe also to doe euill.

⁹ For euill doers shalbe cut off, and they that wait vpon the Lord, they shall inherite the land.

¹⁰ Therefore yet a litle while, and the wicked shall not appeare, and thou shalt looke after his place, and he shall not be found.

¹¹ But meeke men shall possesse the earth, and shall haue their delite in the multitude of peace.

¹² The wicked practiseth against the iust, and gnasheth his teeth against him.

¹³ But the Lord shall laugh him to scorne: for he seeth, that his day is comming.

¹⁴ The wicked haue drawen their sworde, and haue bent their bowe, to cast downe the poore and needie, and to slay such as be of vpright conuersation.

¹⁵ But their sword shall enter into their owne heart, and their bowes shalbe broken.

¹⁶ A small thing vnto the iust man is better, then great riches to the wicked and mightie.

¹⁷ For the armes of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord vpholdeth the iust men.

¹⁵ But their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

⁶ He will cause thy justice to shine forth like the light, And thy righteousness like the noonday's brightness.

⁷ Hope thou patiently on the LORD, And in him place thy trust! Be not angry on account of the prosperous,—On account of him that deviseth deceit!

⁸ Cease from anger; give not way to wrath; Be not provoked, so as to do evil!

⁹ For evil-doers shall be rooted out; But they who trust in the LORD, they shall inherit the land.

¹⁰ Yet a little while, and the wicked shall be no more; Thou mayst look for his place, and he will not be found.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land, And delight themselves in the fulness of prosperity.

¹² The wicked man plotteth against the just, And gnasheth at him with his teeth.

¹³ The Lord laugheth at him; For he seeth that his day is coming.

¹⁴ The wicked draw the sword, And bend their bow, To cast down the afflicted and the needy, And to slay the upright.

¹⁵ Their swords shall enter their own hearts, And their bows shall be broken in pieces.

¹⁶ Better is the little of the righteous man Than the great abundance of the wicked;

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD will uphold the righteous.

⁵ Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act,

⁶ making clear as the light your right, and your just cause clear as the noon-day.

⁷ In silence and patience wait on the Lord. Be not kindled to anger at those who prosper. At those who execute evil devices.

⁵ Give your ways to Yahweh; trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.

⁶ He will display your justice like the daylight and your innocence like the day at noon.

⁷ Be still before Yahweh and wait patiently for him. Do not be angry if someone succeeds in what he does, or when he makes evil plots.

⁸ Do not be angry and frustrated. Do not worry. This only makes trouble.

⁹ Evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh will inherit the land.

¹⁰ In a little while the evil man will disappear; you will look at his place, but he will be gone.

¹¹ But the meek will inherit the land and will delight in great prosperity.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out their swords and have bent their bows to cast down the oppressed and needy, to kill those who are upright.

¹⁵ Their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

¹² A sinner shall ambush the rightful or rightwise man; and he shall gnash with his teeth on him.

¹³ But the Lord shall scorn the sinner; for he beholdeth that his day cometh.

¹⁴ Sinners have drawn out sword; they bent their bow. To deceive a poor man and needy; to strangle rightful or right men of heart.

¹⁵ Their sword enter into the heart of themselves; and their bow be broken.

¹⁶ Better is a little thing to a just or rightwise man; than many riches of sinners.

¹⁷ For the arms of sinners shall be all-broken; but the Lord confirmeth just or rightwise men.

⁵ Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh,

⁶ And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day.

⁷ Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices.

⁸ Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil.

⁹ For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land.

¹⁰ And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not.

¹² The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth.

¹³ The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh.

¹⁴ A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.

¹⁵ Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered.

¹⁶ Better is the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked.

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous.
