Psalms 37:14-19 in English

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay such as are upright in the way.

¹⁵ Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

¹⁶ Better is a little that the righteous hath Than the abundance of many wicked.

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholdeth the righteous.

¹⁸ Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; And their inheritance shall be for ever.

¹⁹ They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

¹⁴ But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and was as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

¹⁵ And I was as a man that hears not, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.

¹⁶ For I hoped in thee, O Lord: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

¹⁷ For I said, Lest mine enemies rejoice against me: for when my feet were moved, they spoke boastingly against me.

¹⁸ For I am ready for plagues, and my grief is continually before me.

¹⁹ For I will declare mine iniquity, and be distressed for my sin.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

¹⁴ Wicked people pull out their swords/daggers and they put strings on their bows, ready to kill people who are poor DOU and to slaughter those who live righteously.

¹⁵ But they will be killed by their own swords/daggers, and their bows will be broken.

¹⁶ It is good to be righteous/godly even if you do not have many possessions, but it is bad to be wicked, even if you are very wealthy,

¹⁷ because Yahweh will completely take away the strength of wicked people, but he will ◄sustain/take care of► people who live righteously.

¹⁸ Every day Yahweh cares about those who have not done any evil things; the things that Yahweh gives them will last forever.

¹⁹ They will survive when calamities occur; when there are famines, they will still have plenty to eat.

¹⁷ For the arms of the evil-doers will be broken: but the Lord is the support of the good.

¹⁸ The days of the upright are numbered by the Lord, and their heritage will be for ever.

¹⁹ They will not be shamed in the evil time, and in the days when all are in need of food they will have enough.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the afflicted and needy, to slay those that are upright in the way:

¹⁵ their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

¹⁵ But the swords of the wicked will slice through their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

¹⁶ It's better to do right and only have a little, than to be wicked and rich.

¹⁷ For the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord supports those who do right.

¹⁸ The Lord knows what is happening to the innocent and grants them an eternal inheritance.

¹⁹ They will not be humiliated in bad times; even in days of famine they will have plenty to eat.

¹⁴ The wicked haue drawen their sworde, and haue bent their bowe, to cast downe the poore and needie, and to slay such as be of vpright conuersation.

¹⁵ But their sword shall enter into their owne heart, and their bowes shalbe broken.

¹⁶ A small thing vnto the iust man is better, then great riches to the wicked and mightie.

¹⁷ For the armes of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord vpholdeth the iust men.

¹⁸ The Lord knoweth the dayes of vpright men, and their inheritance shall bee perpetuall.

¹⁹ They shall not be confounded in the perilous time, and in the daies of famine they shall haue ynough.

¹⁹ They shall not be shamed in the evil time, and they shall be ful filled in the days of hunger;

¹⁴ Sinners have drawn out sword; they bent their bow. To deceive a poor man and needy; to strangle rightful men of heart. (The sinners have drawn out their swords; they have bent their bows. Yea, to destroy the poor and the needy; and to kill those with an upright heart.)

¹⁵ Their sword enter into the heart of themselves; and their bow be broken. (But their swords shall enter into their own hearts; and their bows shall be broken.)

¹⁶ Better is a little thing to a just man; than many riches of sinners. (Better is the little that the righteous have; than the many riches of the sinners.)

¹⁷ For the arms of sinners shall be all-broken; but the Lord confirmeth just men. (For the strength of the sinners shall be all-broken; but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.)

¹⁸ The Lord knoweth the days of the unwemmed; and their heritage shall be (into) without end. (The Lord knoweth all about those without blemish, or without fault; and their inheritance shall last forever.)

¹⁹ They shall not be shamed in the evil time, and they shall be ful filled in the days of hunger;

¹⁴ A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.

¹⁵ Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered.

¹⁶ Better is the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked.

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous.

¹⁸ Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is — to the age.

¹⁹ They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied.
