⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit; Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.

⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: With destruction let him fall therein.

⁹ And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah: It shall rejoice in his salvation.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him?

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.

¹² They reward me evil for good, To the bereaving of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother.

¹⁵ But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: The abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; They did tear me, and ceased not:

¹⁶ Like the profane mockers in feasts, They gnashed upon me with their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, My darling from the lions.

⁷ Thy righteousness is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are as a great deep: O Lord, thou wilt preserve men and beasts.

⁸ How hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! so the children of men shall trust in the shelter of thy wings.

⁹ They shall be fully satisfied with the fatness of thine house; and thou shalt cause them to drink of the full stream of thy delights.

¹⁰ For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light we shall see light.

¹¹ Extend thy mercy to them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

¹² Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of sinners move me.

¹³ There have all the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast out, and shall not be able to stand.

⁷ Although I did not do anything wrong to them, they concealed a deep pit for me to fall into; they hid a net in which they would catch me.

⁸ Cause them to suddenly experience disaster! Cause them to be trapped in their own nets! Cause them to fall into the pits that they have dug for me and disappear!

⁹ Then I will be joyful about what you, Yahweh, have done for me, I will be glad that you have rescued me.

¹⁰ With my whole inner being SYN I will say, “There is no one like Yahweh RHQ! No one else can rescue helpless people from powerful people RHQ. No one else can rescue weak and needy people from those who want to rob them.”

¹¹ People who tell lies stand in court and falsely accuse me of doing things that I do not know anything about.

¹² In return for my doing good things for them, they do evil things to me, with the result that I feel that I am alone.

¹³ When they were ill, I showed that I was sad. I did not eat any food, and I bowed my head as I prayed for them.

¹⁴ I mourned and bowed my head as I prayed as though it was a friend or my mother for whom I was grieving.

¹⁵ But when I had troubles, they were all happy about it. They gathered around to make fun of me. Strangers struck me, and they would not stop.

¹⁶ Worthless people ridicule me and snarl at me.

¹⁷ Yahweh, how long will you only watch them doing this? Rescue me from their attacking me; Save me from being killed by these men who are attacking me like MET lions that are attacking other animals

¹⁰ All my bones will say, Lord, who is like you? The saviour of the poor man from the hands of the strong, of him who is poor and in need from him who takes his goods.

¹¹ False witnesses got up: they put questions to me about crimes of which I had no knowledge.

¹² They gave me back evil for good, troubling my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were ill I put on the clothing of sorrow: I went without food and was sad, and my prayer came back again to my heart.

¹⁴ My behaviour was as if it had been my friend or my brother: I was bent low in grief like one whose mother is dead.

¹⁵ But they took pleasure in my trouble, and came together, yes, low persons came together against me without my knowledge; they never came to an end of wounding me.

¹⁶ Like men of deceit they put me to shame; the voice of their wrath was loud against me.

¹⁷ Lord, how long will you be looking on? take my soul from their destruction, my life from the lions.

⁷ For without cause have they hidden for me their net in a pit; without cause they have digged it for my soul.

⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let his net which he hath hidden catch himself: for destruction let him fall therein.

⁹ And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah; it shall rejoice in his salvation.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the afflicted from one stronger than he, yea, the afflicted and the needy from him that spoileth him!

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they lay to my charge things which I know not.

¹² They reward me evil for good, to the bereavement of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I chastened my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom:

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though he had been a friend, a brother to me; I bowed down in sadness, as one that mourneth for a mother.

¹⁵ But at my halting they rejoiced, and gathered together: the slanderers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

¹⁶ With profane jesters for bread, they have gnashed their teeth against me.

¹⁷ Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, my only one from the young lions.

⁷ Thy justice is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are a great deep. Men and beasts thou wilt preserve, O Lord:

⁸ O how hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! But the children of men shall put their trust under the covert of thy wings.

⁹ They shall be inebriated with the plenty of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the torrent of thy pleasure.

¹⁰ For with thee is the fountain of life; and in thy light we shall see light.

¹¹ Extend thy mercy to them that know thee, and thy justice to them that are right in heart.

¹² Let not the foot of pride come to me, and let not the hand of the sinner move me.

¹³ There the workers of iniquity are fallen, they are cast out, and could not stand.

⁷ For no reason they set a net to catch me; for no reason they dug a pit to trap me.

⁸ Let disaster come on them suddenly; let the net they set catch them instead; let the pit they dug trap them instead.

⁹ Then I will be glad in the Lord; I will be happy in his salvation.

¹⁰ Every part of me will say, Who can compare to you, Lord? You rescue the weak from the strong; the poor and needy from robbers.

¹¹ Hostile witnesses stand up to testify against me, accusing me of crimes I don't know anything about.

¹² They pay me back with evil instead of good. I feel like giving up.

¹³ But when they were sick, I put on clothes of sackcloth in sympathy. I denied myself through fasting. May my prayer for them return to bless me too.

¹⁴ I was upset for them, as if they were my own friends or family; I bowed down in grief as if I was mourning my own mother.

¹⁵ But when I was in trouble, they gathered around and laughed at me. Even strangers I don't know attacked me, constantly tearing me apart.

¹⁶ Like irreligious people mocking a cripple they mock me and call me names, gnashing their teeth at me.

¹⁷ How long, Lord, will you sit by and just watch? Save me from their vicious attacks; defend the only life I have from these lions.

⁷ For without cause they haue hid the pit and their net for me: without cause haue they digged a pit for my soule.

⁸ Let destruction come vpon him at vnwares, and let his net, that he hath laid priuilie, take him: let him fall into the same destruction.

⁹ Then my soule shalbe ioyfull in the Lord: it shall reioyce in his saluation.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like vnto thee, which deliuerest the poore from him, that is too strong for him! yea, the poore and him that is in miserie, from him that spoyleth him!

¹¹ Cruell witnesses did rise vp: they asked of me things that I knewe not.

¹² They rewarded me euill for good, to haue spoyled my soule.

¹³ Yet I, when they were sicke, I was clothed with a sacke: I humbled my soule with fasting: and my praier was turned vpon my bosome.

¹⁴ I behaued my selfe as to my friend, or as to my brother: I humbled my selfe, mourning as one that bewaileth his mother.

¹⁵ But in mine aduersitie they reioyced, and gathered them selues together: the abiects assembled themselues against me, and knewe not: they tare me and ceased not,

¹⁶ With the false skoffers at bankets, gnashing their teeth against me.

¹⁷ Lord, how long wilt thou beholde this? deliuer my soule from their tumult, euen my desolate soule from the lions.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, without cause have they digged for my soul.

¹⁷ O Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, from the young lions my solitary spirit.

¹² They repay me evil for good; They cause bereavement to my soul.

¹³ And yet I, during their sickness, clothed myself with sackcloth, And afflicted myself with fasting; And my prayer was turned to my bosom.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as if he had been my friend or brother; I bowed down in sadness, as one mourning for his mother.

¹⁵ But at my fall they rejoice, and gather themselves together; Revilers whom I know not assemble themselves against me; They tear me without ceasing.

¹⁷ How long, O LORD! wilt thou look on? O rescue my life from the destruction they plot for me; My precious life from these young lions!

⁷ For they wantonly hid their net for me, and dug a pit to destroy me.

¹² Evil for good they requite me, leaving me inwardly comfortless.

¹³ But when they were sick, I put on sackcloth, and chastened myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed low,

¹⁴ as if for my friend or my brother. I went about bowed and in mourning, as one who laments his mother.

¹⁵ When I stumbled, they gleefully gathered, strangers gathered around me, and tore at me without ceasing,

¹⁶ impiously mocking and mocking, bearing their teeth at me.

¹⁷ How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their roaring, my precious life from the lions.

⁷ For they wantonly hid their net for me, and dug a pit to destroy me.

⁸ Let destruction overtake them by surprise. Let the net that they have set catch them. Let them fall into it, to their destruction.

⁹ But I will be joyful in Yahweh and rejoice in his salvation.

¹⁰ All my bones will say, “Yahweh, who is like you, who rescues the oppressed from those who are too strong for them and the poor and needy from those who try to rob them?”

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they accuse me falsely.

¹² They repay me evil for good. I am sorrowful.

¹³ But, when they were sick, I wore sackcloth; I fasted for them with my head bowed on my chest.

¹⁴ I went about in grief as for my brother; I bent down in mourning as for my mother.

¹⁵ But when I stumbled, they rejoiced and gathered together; they gathered together against me, and I was surprised by them. They tore at me without stopping.

¹⁶ With no respect at all they mocked me; they grind their teeth at me in rage.

¹⁷ Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destructive attacks, my life from the lions.

⁷ For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like thee? Thou deliverest a poor man from the hand of his stronger; a needy man and poor from them that diversely ravish him.

¹¹ Wicked witnesses rising asked me things, which I knew not.

¹² They yielded to me evils for goods; barrenness to my soul.

¹³ But when they were dis-easeful to me; I was clothed in an hair-shirt. I meeked my soul in fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.

¹⁴ I pleased so as our neighbour, as our brother; I was made meek, so as mourning and sorrowful.

¹⁵ And they were glad, and came together against me; torments were gathered on me, and I knew it not. They were scattered, and not compunct;

¹⁶ they tempted me, they scorned me with mocking, they gnashed on me with their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, when thou shalt behold, restore thou my soul from the wicked-ness of them; mine one alone from lions.

⁷ For without cause they hid to me the death of their snare; in vain they despised my soul. (For no reason, they hid their deadly snare for me or they hid their snare for me in a pit; for no reason, they despised me.)

⁸ The snare which he knoweth not come to him, and the taking which he hid take him; and fall he into the snare in that thing. (But let the snare catch him unawares, or by surprise, yea, let the trap which he himself hid, catch him; and let him fall to his own destruction in that thing.)

⁹ But my soul shall fully have joy in the Lord; and shall delight on his health. (But my soul shall have full out joy, or shall rejoice, in the Lord; and it shall delight in his salvation, or in his deliverance.)

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like thee? Thou deliverest a poor man from the hand of his stronger; a needy man and poor from them that diversely ravish him. (All my bones said, Lord, who is like thee? Thou rescuest the poor from the hands of those who be stronger; yea, the poor and the needy from those who oppress them.)

They were scattered, and not compunct; (But when I was in torment, they were glad, and came together against me; yea, they were gathered together against me, and I knew not why. They tore me apart, and would not stop;)

¹⁶ they tempted me, they scorned me with mocking, they gnashed on me with their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, when thou shalt behold, restore thou my soul from the wickedness of them; mine one alone from lions. (Lord, how long shalt thou but look at me? rescue thou me from their wicked assailings, yea, save my life from these lions.)

⁷ For without cause they hid for me their netpit, Without cause they digged for my soul.

⁸ Meet him doth desolation — he knoweth not, And his net that he hid catcheth him, For desolation he falleth into it.

⁹ And my soul is joyful in Jehovah, It rejoiceth in His salvation.

¹⁰ All my bones say, 'Jehovah, who is like Thee, Delivering the poor from the stronger than he, And the poor and needy from his plunderer.'

¹¹ Violent witnesses rise up, That which I have not known they ask me.

¹² They pay me evil for good, bereaving my soul,

¹³ And I — in their sickness my clothing is sackcloth, I have humbled with fastings my soul, And my prayer unto my bosom returneth.

¹⁴ As if a friend, as if my brother, I walked habitually, As a mourner for a mother, Mourning I have bowed down.

¹⁵ And — in my halting they have rejoiced, And have been gathered together, Gathered against me were the smiters, And I have not known, They have rent, and they have not ceased;

¹⁶ With profane ones, mockers in feasts, Gnashing against me their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, how long dost thou behold? Keep back my soul from their desolations, From young lions my only one.
