Psalms 35:5-9 in English

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving them on.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit; Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.

⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: With destruction let him fall therein.

⁹ And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah: It shall rejoice in his salvation.

⁵ He devises iniquity on his bed; he gives himself to every evil way; and does not abhor evil.

⁶ O Lord, thy mercy is in the heaven; and thy truth reaches to the clouds.

⁷ Thy righteousness is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are as a great deep: O Lord, thou wilt preserve men and beasts.

⁸ How hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! so the children of men shall trust in the shelter of thy wings.

⁹ They shall be fully satisfied with the fatness of thine house; and thou shalt cause them to drink of the full stream of thy delights.

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

⁵ Send your angel to pursue them, and as a result cause them to disappear like chaff/straw blown away by the wind!

⁶ Cause the path on which they run to be dark and slippery as your angel pursues them!

⁷ Although I did not do anything wrong to them, they concealed a deep pit for me to fall into; they hid a net in which they would catch me.

⁸ Cause them to suddenly experience disaster! Cause them to be trapped in their own nets! Cause them to fall into the pits that they have dug for me and disappear!

⁹ Then I will be joyful about what you, Yahweh, have done for me, I will be glad that you have rescued me.

⁹ And my soul will have joy in the Lord; it will be glad in his salvation.

⁷ Thy justice is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are a great deep. Men and beasts thou wilt preserve, O Lord:

⁸ O how hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! But the children of men shall put their trust under the covert of thy wings.

⁹ They shall be inebriated with the plenty of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the torrent of thy pleasure.

⁵ Let them be like chaff blown by the wind; let the angel of the Lord drive them away.

⁶ May their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord chasing them down.

⁷ For no reason they set a net to catch me; for no reason they dug a pit to trap me.

⁸ Let disaster come on them suddenly; let the net they set catch them instead; let the pit they dug trap them instead.

⁹ Then I will be glad in the Lord; I will be happy in his salvation.

⁵ Let them be as chaffe before the winde, and let the Angel of the Lord scatter them.

⁶ Let their way be darke and slipperie: and let the Angel of the Lord persecute them.

⁷ For without cause they haue hid the pit and their net for me: without cause haue they digged a pit for my soule.

⁸ Let destruction come vpon him at vnwares, and let his net, that he hath laid priuilie, take him: let him fall into the same destruction.

⁹ Then my soule shalbe ioyfull in the Lord: it shall reioyce in his saluation.

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind, the angel of the LORD thrusting them.

⁹ Then shall my soul rejoice in the LORD; It shall exult in his protection.

⁵ As chaff before wind may they be, with the Lord's angel pursuing them.

⁶ Slippery and dark be their way, with his angel thrusting them on.

⁷ For they wantonly hid their net for me, and dug a pit to destroy me.

⁸ Upon them may ruin come unawares; may the net which they hid catch themselves, and into the pit may they fall.

⁹ Then I will exult in the Lord, and be joyful because of his help;

⁵ As chaff before wind may they be, with the Lord's angel pursuing them.

⁶ Slippery and dark be their way, with his angel thrusting them on.

⁷ For they wantonly hid their net for me, and dug a pit to destroy me.

⁸ The snare which he knoweth not come to him, and the taking which he hid take him; and fall he into the snare in that thing.

⁹ But my soul shall fully have joy in the Lord; and shall delight on his health.

⁵ Be they made as dust before the face of the wind; and the angel of the Lord make them strait. (Let them be made like the dust in the wind; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.)

⁶ Their way be made darkness, and sliderness; and the angel of the Lord pursue them. (Let their way be made dark, and slippery; and may the angel of the Lord strike them down.)

⁷ For without cause they hid to me the death of their snare; in vain they despised my soul. (For no reason, they hid their deadly snare for me or they hid their snare for me in a pit; for no reason, they despised me.)

⁸ The snare which he knoweth not come to him, and the taking which he hid take him; and fall he into the snare in that thing. (But let the snare catch him unawares, or by surprise, yea, let the trap which he himself hid, catch him; and let him fall to his own destruction in that thing.)

⁹ But my soul shall fully have joy in the Lord; and shall delight on his health. (But my soul shall have full out joy, or shall rejoice, in the Lord; and it shall delight in his salvation, or in his deliverance.)

⁵ They are as chaff before wind, And a messenger of Jehovah driving away.

⁶ Their way is darkness and slipperiness, And a messenger of Jehovah their pursuer.

⁷ For without cause they hid for me their netpit, Without cause they digged for my soul.

⁸ Meet him doth desolation — he knoweth not, And his net that he hid catcheth him, For desolation he falleth into it.

⁹ And my soul is joyful in Jehovah, It rejoiceth in His salvation.
