¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.

¹² They reward me evil for good, To the bereaving of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother.

¹¹ Extend thy mercy to them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

¹² Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of sinners move me.

¹³ There have all the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast out, and shall not be able to stand.

¹¹ False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

¹² They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

¹⁴ I mourned and bowed my head as I prayed as though it was a friend or my mother for whom I was grieving.

¹² They gave me back evil for good, troubling my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were ill I put on the clothing of sorrow: I went without food and was sad, and my prayer came back again to my heart.

¹⁴ My behaviour was as if it had been my friend or my brother: I was bent low in grief like one whose mother is dead.

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they lay to my charge things which I know not.

¹² They reward me evil for good, to the bereavement of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I chastened my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom:

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though he had been a friend, a brother to me; I bowed down in sadness, as one that mourneth for a mother.

¹¹ Extend thy mercy to them that know thee, and thy justice to them that are right in heart.

¹² Let not the foot of pride come to me, and let not the hand of the sinner move me.

¹³ There the workers of iniquity are fallen, they are cast out, and could not stand.

¹¹ Hostile witnesses stand up to testify against me, accusing me of crimes I don't know anything about.

¹² They pay me back with evil instead of good. I feel like giving up.

¹³ But when they were sick, I put on clothes of sackcloth in sympathy. I denied myself through fasting. May my prayer for them return to bless me too.

¹⁴ I was upset for them, as if they were my own friends or family; I bowed down in grief as if I was mourning my own mother.

¹¹ Cruell witnesses did rise vp: they asked of me things that I knewe not.

¹² They rewarded me euill for good, to haue spoyled my soule.

¹³ Yet I, when they were sicke, I was clothed with a sacke: I humbled my soule with fasting: and my praier was turned vpon my bosome.

¹⁴ I behaued my selfe as to my friend, or as to my brother: I humbled my selfe, mourning as one that bewaileth his mother.

¹² They repay me evil for good; bereavement is come to my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth, I afflicted my soul with fasting; and my prayer, may it return into mine own bosom.

¹⁴ I went about as though it had been my friend or my brother; I bowed down mournful, as one that mourneth for his mother.

¹¹ False witnesses did rise up; They laid to my charge things that I knew not.

¹⁴ As though he had been to me a friend or a brother did I walk about: as one that mourneth for a mother did I sorrowfully bend down my head.

¹² Evil for good they requite me, leaving me inwardly comfortless.

¹³ But when they were sick, I put on sackcloth, and chastened myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed low,

¹⁴ as if for my friend or my brother. I went about bowed and in mourning, as one who laments his mother.

¹¹ Violent witnesses rise, and ask of me things that I know not.

¹² Evil for good they requite me, leaving me inwardly comfortless.

¹³ But when they were sick, I put on sackcloth, and chastened myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed low,

¹⁴ as if for my friend or my brother. I went about bowed and in mourning, as one who laments his mother.

¹¹ Malicious witnesses come forward. They ask me about things about which I know nothing.

¹² They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer teshuvah ·completely returned· into my own bosom.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they accuse me falsely.

¹² They repay me evil for good. I am sorrowful.

¹³ But, when they were sick, I wore sackcloth; I fasted for them with my head bowed on my chest.

¹⁴ I went about in grief as for my brother; I bent down in mourning as for my mother.

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don’t know about.

¹² They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.

¹¹ Wicked witnesses rising asked me things, which I knew not.

¹² They yielded to me evils for goods; barrenness to my soul.

¹³ But when they were dis-easeful to me; I was clothed in an hair-shirt. I meeked my soul in fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.

¹⁴ I pleased so as our neighbour, as our brother; I was made meek, so as mourning and sorrowful.

¹¹ Wicked witnesses rising (up) asked me things, which I knew not.

¹² They yielded to me evils for goods; barrenness to my soul. (They gave me evil for good; making my soul barren.)

¹³ But when they were dis-easeful to me; I was clothed in an hair-shirt. I meeked my soul in fasting; and my prayer shall be turned (again) into my bosom. (But yet when they were sick; I was clothed in a hair-shirt. I humbled myself with fasting; and I prayed to the Lord for them.)

¹⁴ I pleased so as our neighbour, as our brother; I was made meek, so as mourning and sorrowful. (I went around, like he was my neighbour, or my brother; I was humbled, like one mourning and sorrowful for his own mother.)

¹¹ Violent witnesses rise up, That which I have not known they ask me.

¹² They pay me evil for good, bereaving my soul,

¹³ And I — in their sickness my clothing is sackcloth, I have humbled with fastings my soul, And my prayer unto my bosom returneth.

¹⁴ As if a friend, as if my brother, I walked habitually, As a mourner for a mother, Mourning I have bowed down.
