¹ A Psalm of David. Strive thou, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me: Fight thou against them that fight against me.

² Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help.

³ Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me: Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

⁴ Let them be put to shame and brought to dishonor that seek after my soul: Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt.

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving them on.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit; Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.

¹ For the end, by David the servant of the Lord.

² The transgressor, that he may sin, says within himself, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

³ For he has dealt craftily before him, to discover his iniquity and hate it.

⁴ The words of his mouth are transgression and deceit: he is not inclined to understand how to do good.

⁵ He devises iniquity on his bed; he gives himself to every evil way; and does not abhor evil.

⁶ O Lord, thy mercy is in the heaven; and thy truth reaches to the clouds.

⁷ Thy righteousness is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are as a great deep: O Lord, thou wilt preserve men and beasts.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, and the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.

¹ Yahweh, fight against those who fight against me! Fight against my enemies when they fight me!

² Be like a shield DOU to protect me and come to help me!

³ Lift up your spear DOU and throw it at those who pursue me! Promise me that you will enable me to defeat my enemies.

⁴ Cause those who are trying to kill me to be defeated and disgraced! Cause those who are planning to do evil things to me to be pushed back and become confused!

⁵ Send your angel to pursue them, and as a result cause them to disappear like chaff/straw blown away by the wind!

⁶ Cause the path on which they run to be dark and slippery as your angel pursues them!

⁷ Although I did not do anything wrong to them, they concealed a deep pit for me to fall into; they hid a net in which they would catch me.

² Be a breastplate to me, and give me your help.

³ Take up your spear and keep back my attackers; say to my soul, I am your salvation.

⁴ Let them be overcome and put to shame who make attempts to take my soul; let those who would do me damage be turned back and made foolish.

⁵ Let them be like dust from the grain before the wind; let the angel of the Lord send them in flight.

⁶ Let their way be dark and full of danger; let them be troubled by the angel of the Lord.

⁷ For without cause they have put a net ready for me secretly, in which to take my soul.

² The unjust hath said within himself, that he would sin: there is no fear of God before his eyes.

³ For in his sight he hath done deceitfully, that his iniquity may be found unto hatred.

⁴ The words of his mouth are iniquity and guile: he would not understand that he might do well.

⁵ He hath devised iniquity on his bed, he hath set himself on every way that is not good: but evil he hath not hated.

⁶ O Lord, thy mercy is in heaven, and thy truth reacheth, even to the clouds.

⁷ Thy justice is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are a great deep. Men and beasts thou wilt preserve, O Lord:

¹ A psalm of David. Oppose my opponents, Lord; fight those who are fighting against me.

² Put your armor on, and pick up your shield. Get ready, come and help me.

³ Draw your spear and your javelin, confront those who are chasing me. Tell me, “I am your salvation!”

⁴ Shame them! Humiliate those who are trying to kill me! Turn them back! Disgrace those who are planning to hurt me!

⁵ Let them be like chaff blown by the wind; let the angel of the Lord drive them away.

⁶ May their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord chasing them down.

⁷ For no reason they set a net to catch me; for no reason they dug a pit to trap me.

² Lay hand vpon the shielde and buckler, and stand vp for mine helpe.

³ Bring out also the speare and stop the way against them, that persecute me: say vnto my soule, I am thy saluation.

⁴ Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seeke after my soule: let them be turned backe, and brought to confusion, that imagine mine hurt.

⁵ Let them be as chaffe before the winde, and let the Angel of the Lord scatter them.

⁶ Let their way be darke and slipperie: and let the Angel of the Lord persecute them.

⁷ For without cause they haue hid the pit and their net for me: without cause haue they digged a pit for my soule.

⁴ Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and be abashed that devise my hurt.

⁵ Let them be as chaff before the wind, the angel of the LORD thrusting them.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, without cause have they digged for my soul.

³ Draw spear and battle-axe, confront those who pursue me. Assure me that you will help me.

⁴ Dishonour and shame be on those who are seeking my life! Defeat and confusion on those who are planning my hurt!

⁵ As chaff before wind may they be, with the Lord's angel pursuing them.

⁶ Slippery and dark be their way, with his angel thrusting them on.

² Take thou armours and shield; and rise up into help to me.

³ Hold out the sword, and close altogether the way against them that pursue me; say thou to my soul, I am thine health.

⁴ They that seek my life; be shamed, and ashamed. They that think evils to me; be turned away backward, and be they shamed.

⁵ Be they made as dust before the face of the wind; and the angel of the Lord make them strait.

⁶ Their way be made darkness, and sliderness; and the angel of the Lord pursue them.

⁷ For without cause they hid to me the death of their snare; in vain they despised my soul.

¹ To David. The psalm of David. Lord, deem thou them, that annoy me; overcome thou them, that fight against me. (A song by David. Lord, judge thou them, who harm me; overcome thou them, who fight against me.)

² Take thou armours and shield; and rise up into help to me. (Take thou up arms, or weapons, and shield; and rise up to help me.)

³ Shed out the sword/Hold out the sword, and close (al)together (the way) against them that pursue me; say thou to my soul, I am thine health. (Draw out the sword, and close up the way against those who persecute me; say thou to me, I am thy salvation, or thy deliverance.)

⁴ They that seek my life; be shamed, and ashamed. They that think evils to me; be turned away backward, and be they shamed. (Let those who seek my life; be shamed, and ashamed. Let those who plot evil against me; be turned back, and be shamed.)

⁵ Be they made as dust before the face of the wind; and the angel of the Lord make them strait. (Let them be made like the dust in the wind; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.)

⁶ Their way be made darkness, and sliderness; and the angel of the Lord pursue them. (Let their way be made dark, and slippery; and may the angel of the Lord strike them down.)

⁷ For without cause they hid to me the death of their snare; in vain they despised my soul. (For no reason, they hid their deadly snare for me or they hid their snare for me in a pit; for no reason, they despised me.)

¹ By David. Strive, Jehovah, with my strivers, fight with my fighters,

² Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise for my help,

³ And draw out spear and lance, To meet my pursuers. Say to my soul, 'Thy salvation I am.'

⁴ They are ashamed and blush, those seeking my soul, Turned backward and confounded, Those devising my evil.

⁵ They are as chaff before wind, And a messenger of Jehovah driving away.

⁶ Their way is darkness and slipperiness, And a messenger of Jehovah their pursuer.

⁷ For without cause they hid for me their netpit, Without cause they digged for my soul.
