Psalms 34:1-21 in American Standard Version (1901)

1 A Psalm of David; when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah: The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto him, and were radiant; And their faces shall never be confounded.
6 This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them.
8 Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.
9 Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints; For there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.
12 What man is he that desireth life, And loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles.
18 Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked; And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

Psalms 34:1-21 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

1 A Psalm of David. Judge thou, O Lord, them that injure me, fight against them that fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and arise for my help.
3 Bring forth a sword, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Let them that seek my soul be ashamed and confounded: let them that devise evils against me be turned back and put to shame.
5 Let them be as dust before the wind, and an angel of the Lord afflicting them.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery, and an angel of the Lord persecuting them.
7 For without cause they have hid for me their destructive snare: without a cause they have reproached my soul.
8 Let a snare which they know not come upon them: and the gin which they hid take them; and let them fall into the very same snare.
9 But my soul shall exult in the Lord: it shall delight in his salvation.
10 All my bones shall say, O Lord, who is like to thee? delivering the poor out of the hand of them that are stronger than he, yea, the poor and needy one from them that spoil him.
11 Unjust witnesses arose, and asked me of things I knew not.
12 They rewarded me evil for good, and bereavement to my soul.
13 But I, when they troubled me, put on sackcloth, and humbled my soul with fasting: and my prayer shall return to my own bosom.
14 I behaved agreeably towards them as if it had been our neighbour or brother: I humbled myself as one mourning and sad of countenance.
15 Yet they rejoiced against me, and plagues were plentifully brought against me, and I knew it not: they were scattered, but repented not.
16 They tempted me, they sneered at me most contemptuously, they gnashed their teeth upon me.
17 O Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? Deliver my soul from their mischief, mine only-begotten one from the lions.
18 I will give thanks to thee even in a great congregation: in an abundant people I will praise thee.
19 Let not them that are mine enemies without a cause rejoice against me; who hate me for nothing, and wink with their eyes.
20 For to me they spoke peaceably, but imagined deceits in their anger.
21 And they opened wide their mouth upon me; they said, Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it.

Psalms 34:1-21 in Bible in Basic English

1 Of David. When he made a change in his behaviour before Abimelech, who sent him away, and he went. I will be blessing the Lord at all times; his praise will be ever in my mouth.
2 My soul will say great things of the Lord: the poor in spirit will have knowledge of it and be glad.
3 O give praise to the Lord with me; let us be witnesses together of his great name.
4 I was searching for the Lord, and he gave ear to my voice, and made me free from all my fears.
5 Let your eyes be turned to him and you will have light, and your faces will not be shamed.
6 This poor man's cry came before the Lord, and he gave him salvation from all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord is ever watching over those who have fear of him, to keep them safe.
8 By experience you will see that the Lord is good; happy is the man who has faith in him.
9 Keep yourselves in the fear of the Lord, all you his saints; for those who do so will have no need of anything.
10 The young lions are in need and have no food; but those who are looking to the Lord will have every good thing.
11 Come, children, give attention to me; I will be your teacher in the fear of the Lord.
12 What man has a love of life, and a desire that his days may be increased so that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from words of deceit.
14 Be turned from evil, and do good; make a search for peace, desiring it with all your heart.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth.
17 The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.
19 Great are the troubles of the upright: but the Lord takes him safely out of them all.
20 He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil will put an end to the sinner, and those who are haters of righteousness will come to destruction.

Psalms 34 in Darby Translation

Psalms 34:1-21 in Douay-Rheims 1899

1 For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.
2 Take hold of arms and shield: and rise up to help me.
3 Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul: I am thy salvation.
4 Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise against me.
5 Let them become as dust before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord straiten them.
6 Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
7 For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction: without cause they have upbraided my soul.
8 Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and into that very snare let them fall.
9 But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation.
10 All my bones shall say: Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him.
11 Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.
12 They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.
13 But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.
14 As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please: as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.
15 But they rejoiced against me, and came together: scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.
16 They were separated, and repented not: they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn: they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17 Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou soul from their malice: my only one from the lions.
18 I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.
19 Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
20 For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.
21 And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said: Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.

3 Glorify God with me; together let's honor his reputation.
4 I asked the Lord for help, and he answered me. He set me free from all my fears.
5 The faces of those who look to him will shine with joy; they will never be downcast with shame.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard me, and saved me from all my troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord stands guard over all those who honor him, keeping them safe.
8 Taste, and you will see that the Lord is good! How happy are those who trust in his protection!
9 Show your reverence for the Lord, you who are his holy people, for those who respect him have everything they need.
10 Lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who trust in the Lord have all that is good.
11 Children, listen to me! I will teach you how to respect the Lord.
12 Who of you wants to live a long and happy life?
13 Then don't let your tongue speak evil, or your lips tell lies.
14 Reject what is evil, do what is good. Look for peace, and work to make it a reality.
15 The Lord watches over those who do right, and he hears when they cry for help.
16 The Lord sets himself against those who do evil. He will wipe out even the memory of them from the earth.
17 But when his people call out for help, he hears them and rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close beside those who are broken-hearted; he saves those whose spirits are crushed.
19 Those who do right have many problems, but the Lord solves all of them.
20 He keeps them safe—not a single one of their bones will be broken.
21 Evil kills the wicked. Those who hate good people will suffer for their wrongdoing.

2 My soule shall glory in the Lord: the humble shall heare it, and be glad.
3 Praise ye the Lord with me, and let vs magnifie his Name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he deliuered me out of all my feare.
5 They shall looke vnto him, and runne to him: and their faces shall not be ashamed, saying,
6 This poore man cryed, and the Lord heard him, and saued him out of all his troubles.
7 The Angel of the Lord pitcheth round about them, that feare him, and deliuereth them.
8 Taste ye and see, howe gratious the Lord is: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 Feare the Lord, ye his Saintes: for nothing wanteth to them that feare him.
10 The lyons doe lacke and suffer hunger, but they, which seeke the Lord, shall want nothing that is good.
11 Come children, hearken vnto me: I will teache you the feare of the Lord.
12 What man is he, that desireth life, and loueth long dayes for to see good?
13 Keepe thy tongue from euill, and thy lips, that they speake no guile.
14 Eschewe euill and doe good: seeke peace and follow after it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are vpon the righteous, and his eares are open vnto their crie.
16 But the face of the Lord is against them that doe euill, to cut off their remembrance from the earth.
17 The righteous crie, and the Lord heareth them, and deliuereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is neere vnto them that are of a contrite heart, and will saue such as be afflicted in Spirite.
19 Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord deliuereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 But malice shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous, shall perish.

Psalms 34:1-21 in Updated Brenton English Septuagint

7 For without cause they have hidden for me their destructive snare: Without a cause they have reproached my soul.
8 Let a snare which they know not come upon them; And the gin which they hid take them: And let them fall into the very same snare.
14 I behaved agreeably toward them as if it had been our neighbor or brother: I humbled myself as one mourning and sad of countenance.
Deliver my soul from their mischief, Mine only begotten one from the lions.

8 Oh taste and see that the LORD is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
9 Oh fear the LORD, you his holy ones, for there is no lack with those who fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
11 Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Who is someone who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies.
14 Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The LORD’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry.
16 The LORD’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20 He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.

1 To David, when he changed his mouth, or his word, before Abimelech, and he drove out David, and he went forth. The psalm of David, when he changed his cheer before Abimelech, and he let him go, and he went away. I shall bless the Lord in all time; evermore his praising be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall be praised in the Lord; mild men hear, and be glad.
3 Magnify ye the Lord with me; and enhance we his name into itself.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me; and he delivered me from all my tribulations.
5 Nigh ye to him, and be ye lighten-ed; and your faces shall not be shamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him; and saved him from all his tribulations.
7 The angel of the Lord sendeth in the compass of men dreading him; and he shall deliver them.
8 Taste ye, and see, for the Lord is sweet; blessed is the man, that hopeth in him.
9 All ye holy men of the Lord, dread ye him; for no neediness is to men dreading him.
10 Rich men were needy, and were hungry; but men that seek the Lord shall not fail of all good.
11 Come, ye sons, hear ye me; I shall teach you the dread of the Lord.
12 Who is the man, that willeth or desireth life; that loveth to see good days?
13 Forbid thy tongue from evil; and thy lips speak not guile.
14 Turn thou away from evil, and do good; seek thou peace, and perfectly pursue thou it.
15 The eyes of the Lord be on just or rightwise men; and his ears be to their prayers.
16 But the cheer of the Lord is on men doing evils; that he lose the mind the memory of them from the earth.
17 Just or rightwise men cried, and the Lord heard them; and delivered them from all their tribulations.
18 The Lord is nigh to them that be of troubled heart; and he shall save meek men in spirit.
19 Many tribulations be of just or rightwise men; and the Lord shall deliver them from all these or them.
20 The Lord keepeth all the bones of them; one of those or them shall not be broken.
21 The death of sinners is worst; and they that hate a just or rightwise man shall trespass.
