¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, The people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

¹³ Jehovah looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men;

¹⁴ From the place of his habitation he looketh forth Upon all the inhabitants of the earth,

¹⁵ He that fashioneth the hearts of them all, That considereth all their works.

¹⁶ There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

¹⁷ A horse is a vain thing for safety; Neither doth he deliver any by his great power.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, Upon them that hope in his lovingkindness;

¹² Come, ye children, hear me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

¹³ What man is there that desires life, loving to see good days?

¹⁴ Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

¹⁵ Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

¹⁶ The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer:

¹⁷ but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to destroy their memorial from the earth. The righteous cried, and the Lord hearkened to them,

¹⁸ and delivered them out of all their afflictions.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

¹² Yahweh blesses those nations who choose him to be their God; He is pleased with those whom he has chosen to receive what he has promised.

¹³ Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees all us people;

¹⁴ from where he rules MTY, he looks down on all the people who live on the earth.

¹⁵ He formed our inner beings, and he sees everything that we do.

¹⁶ It is not because a king has a great army that he is able to win battles, and it is not because a soldier is very strong that he is able to defeat his enemy.

¹⁷ It is foolish to trust that because horses are very strong that they will able to win a battle and save their riders.

¹⁸ Do not forget that Yahweh watches over those who revere him, those who confidently expect him to faithfully love them.

¹² What man is there that desires life, loving to see good days?

¹⁶ A king's salvation is not in the power of his army; a strong man does not get free by his great strength.

¹⁷ A horse is a false hope; his great power will not make any man free from danger.

¹⁸ See, the eye of the Lord is on those in whose hearts is the fear of him, on those whose hope is in his mercy;

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance!

¹⁶ The eyes of the Lord are upon the just: and his ears unto their prayers.

¹⁷ But the countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil things: to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

¹⁸ The just cried, and the Lord heard them: and delivered them out of all their troubles.

¹² Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as specially belonging to him.

¹³ The Lord looks from heaven and sees the whole of humanity,

¹⁴ from his throne he watches all those who live on earth.

¹⁵ He created their minds, so he knows everything they do.

¹⁶ Even the greatest army cannot save a king; the greatest strength cannot save a warrior.

¹⁷ Don't deceive yourself: a warhorse can't give you victory—even its incredible strength won't save you.

¹⁸ The Lord watches over those who reverently follow him, those who place their hope in his trustworthy love

¹² Blessed is that nation, whose God is the Lord: euen the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.

¹³ The Lord looketh downe from heauen, and beholdeth all the children of men.

¹⁴ From the habitation of his dwelling he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.

¹⁵ He facioneth their hearts euery one, and vnderstandeth all their workes.

¹⁶ The King is not saued by the multitude of an hoste, neither is the mightie man deliuered by great strength.

¹⁷ A horse is a vaine helpe, and shall not deliuer any by his great strength.

¹⁸ Beholde, the eye of the Lord is vpon them that feare him, and vpon them, that trust in his mercie,

¹² Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.

¹³ The LORD looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men;

¹⁴ From the place of His habitation He looketh intently upon all the inhabitants of the earth;

¹⁵ He that fashioneth the hearts of them all, that considereth all their doings.

¹⁷ Vain is the horse for victory: nor shall he deliver any by the greatness of his strength.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon those that fear him, upon those that hope for his kindness.

¹⁷ The horse is a vain thing for safety, Nor can he deliver his master by his great strength.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,—Upon them that trust in his goodness;

¹² Happy the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for himself as his own.

¹³ The Lord looks down from heaven, he sees all of humanity;

¹⁴ from where he rules he gazes on all who inhabit the earth.

¹⁵ He fashions the hearts of them all, and gives heed to all that they do.

¹⁶ It is not by great armies that kings are victorious, it is not by great strength that a warrior saves himself;

¹⁷ false hope is the war-horse to usher in victory, for all its great might it can provide no escape.

¹⁵ Which made singularly, either each by himself, the souls of them; which understandeth all the works of them.

¹⁶ A king is not saved by much virtue, that is, strength; and a giant shall not be saved in the muchliness of his virtue.

¹⁷ An horse is false to health; for-sooth he shall not be saved in the abundance, either plenty, of his virtue.

¹⁸ Lo! the eyes of the Lord be on men dreading him; and in them that hope in his mercy.

¹⁴ From his dwelling place made ready before; he beheld on all men, that inhabit the earth, (or he looketh on all those who inhabit the earth).

¹⁵ Which made singularly, either each by himself, the souls of them; which understandeth all the works of them. (Who made each one of them individually; and who understandeth all their works, or their deeds.)

¹⁶ A king is not saved by much virtue, that is, strength; and a giant shall not be saved in the muchliness of his virtue. (A king is not saved by his large host, or his army; and a mighty man shall not be saved by his great strength.)

¹⁷ An horse is false to health; forsooth he shall not be saved in the abundance, either plenty, of his virtue. (A horse is an empty thing for salvation, or deliverance; for it shall not be able to save anyone by the abundance, or the plentifulness, of its strength.)

¹⁸ Lo! the eyes of the Lord be on men dreading him; and in them that hope in his mercy. (Behold! the eyes of the Lord (be) upon those who fear, (or who obey, him); and upon those who hope for his mercy./Behold! the eyes of the Lord (be) upon those who revere him; and upon those who trust in his love.)

¹² O the happiness of the nation whose God is Jehovah, Of the people He did choose, For an inheritance to Him.

¹³ From the heavens hath Jehovah looked, He hath seen all the sons of men.

¹⁴ From the fixed place of His dwelling, He looked unto all inhabitants of the earth;

¹⁵ Who is forming their hearts together, Who is attending unto all their works.

¹⁶ The king is not saved by the multitude of a force. A mighty man is not delivered, By abundance of power.

¹⁷ A false thing is the horse for safety, And by the abundance of his strength He doth not deliver.

¹⁸ Lo, the eye of Jehovah is to those fearing Him, To those waiting for His kindness,
