⁴ Pluck me out of the net that they have laid privily for me; For thou art my stronghold.

⁵ Into thy hand I commend my spirit: Thou hast redeemed me, O Jehovah, thou God of truth.

⁶ I hate them that regard lying vanities; But I trust in Jehovah.

⁷ I will be glad and rejoice in thy lovingkindness; For thou hast seen my affliction: Thou hast known my soul in adversities;

⁸ And thou hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; Thou hast set my feet in a large place.

⁹ Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, for I am in distress: Mine eye wasteth away with grief, yea, my soul and my body.

¹⁰ For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with sighing: My strength faileth because of mine iniquity, And my bones are wasted away.

¹¹ Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, Yea, unto my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me.

¹² I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ For I have heard the defaming of many, Terror on every side: While they took counsel together against me, They devised to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah: I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁵ My times are in thy hand: Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

¹⁶ Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: Save me in thy lovingkindness.

¹⁷ Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; for I have called upon thee: Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

¹⁹ Oh how great is thy goodness, Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee, Before the sons of men!

²⁰ In the covert of thy presence wilt thou hide them from the plottings of man: Thou wilt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

²¹ Blessed be Jehovah; For he hath showed me his marvellous lovingkindness in a strong city.

²² As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: Nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications, When I cried unto thee.

²³ Oh love Jehovah, all ye his saints: Jehovah preserveth the faithful, And plentifully rewardeth him that dealeth proudly.

²⁴ Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All ye that hope in Jehovah.

⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: I became thoroughly miserable while a thorn was fastened in me. Pause.

⁵ I acknowledged my sin, and hid not mine iniquity: I said, I will confess mine iniquity to the Lord against myself; and thou forgavest the ungodliness of my heart. Pause.

⁶ Therefore shall every holy one pray to thee in a fit time: only in the deluge of many waters they shall not come nigh to him.

⁷ Thou art my refuge from the affliction that encompasses me; my joy, to deliver me from them that have compassed me. Pause.

⁸ I will instruct thee and guide thee in this way wherein thou shalt go: I will fix mine eyes upon thee.

⁹ Be ye not as horse and mule, which have no understanding: but thou must constrain their jaws with bit and curb, lest they should come nigh to thee.

¹⁰ Many are the scourges of the sinner: but him that hopes in the Lord mercy shall compass about.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and exult, ye righteous: and glory, all ye that are upright in heart.

⁵ Yahweh, you are a God who can be trusted, so I put myself into your care because you rescued me.

⁶ Yahweh, I hate those who worship useless idols, but I trust in you.

⁷ I will be very glad DOU because you faithfully love me. You see me when I have been afflicted, and you have known when I have had troubles.

⁸ You have not allowed my enemies to capture me; instead, you have rescued me from danger.

⁹ But now, Yahweh, be kind to me again because I am distressed. Because I cry so much, I cannot see well, and I am completely exhausted.

¹⁰ I have become very weak because I am so miserable, and it is causing my life to become shorter. I have become weak because of all my troubles; even my bones are becoming weaker.

¹¹ All of my enemies make fun of me, and even my neighbors despise me. Even my friends are afraid of me because they think I am being punished by God, and when they see me on the streets, they run away.

¹² People have forgotten me like they forget people who are dead. They think I am as useless as a broken pot.

¹³ I have heard people slandering me, and they have caused me to become terrified. My enemies are making plans in order to kill me.

¹⁴ But Yahweh, I trust in you. You are my God.

¹⁵ My whole life MTY is in your hands; save me from my enemies, from those who pursue me.

¹⁶ Be kind to me and rescue me because you always faithfully love me.

¹⁷ Yahweh, I call out to you, so do not allow me to be disgraced. I desire that wicked people will be disgraced; I want them to soon die and go down to the place where the dead people are.

¹⁸ I desire that you will cause people MTY who tell lies to be unable to speak. Do that to people who are proud and those who arrogantly accuse righteous people.

¹⁹ You have stored up many blessings for those who revere you. You do those good things for those who go to you to be protected; everyone sees you doing that.

²⁰ You hide people in your presence where it is safe, and protect them from people who plot to kill them. You hide them in safe places from their enemies MTY who accuse/insult them.

²¹ Praise Yahweh! When my enemies surrounded the city in which I was living, he showed me in a wonderful way that he faithfully loves me.

²² I was afraid, and I cried out, “I have been separated from Yahweh!” but you heard me and answered my cry for help.

²³ You people who belong to Yahweh, love him! Those who are loyal to him, he protects, but those who are very proud, he punishes them severely like they deserve to be punished.

²⁴ You who confidently expect Yahweh to do great things for you, be strong, be courageous!

⁹ Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble; my eyes are wasted with grief, I am wasted in soul and body.

¹⁰ My life goes on in sorrow, and my years in weeping; my strength is almost gone because of my sin, and my bones are wasted away.

¹¹ Because of all those who are against me, I have become a word of shame to my neighbours; a cause of shaking the head and a fear to my friends: those who saw me in the street went in flight from me.

¹² I have gone from men's minds and memory like a dead man; I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ False statements against me have come to my ears; fear was on every side: they were talking together against me, designing to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I had faith in you, O Lord; I said, You are my God.

¹⁵ The chances of my life are in your hand; take me out of the hands of my haters, and of those who go after me.

¹⁶ Let your servant see the light of your face; in your mercy be my saviour.

¹⁷ Let me not be shamed, O Lord, for I have made my prayer to you; let the sinners be shamed, and let their mouths be shut in the underworld.

¹⁸ Let the false lips be shut, which say evil against the upright, looking down on him in their pride.

¹⁹ O how great is your grace, which you have put in store for your worshippers, and which you have made clear to those who had faith in you, before the sons of men!

²⁰ You will keep them safe in your house from the designs of man; in the secret of your tent will you keep them from angry tongues.

²¹ May the Lord be praised, because he has made clear to me the wonder of his grace in a strong town.

²² And as for me, I said in my fear, I am cut off from before your eyes; but you gave ear to the voice of my prayer, when my cry went up to you.

²³ O have love for the Lord, all you his saints; for the Lord keeps safe from danger all those who are true to him, and gives the workers of pride their right reward.

²⁴ Put away fear and let your heart be strong, all you whose hope is in the Lord.

⁴ Draw me out of the net that they have hidden for me; for thou art my strength.

²⁴ Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all ye that hope in Jehovah.

⁵ I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against myself my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

⁶ For this shall every one that is holy pray to thee in a seasonable time. And yet in a flood of many waters, they shall not come nigh unto him.

⁷ Thou art my refuge from the trouble which hath encompassed me: my joy, deliver me from them that surround me.

⁸ I will give thee understanding, and I will instruct thee in this way, in which thou shalt go: I will fix my eyes upon thee.

⁹ Do not become like the horse and the mule, who have no understanding. With bit and bridle bind fast their jaws, who come not near unto thee.

¹⁰ Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encompass him that hopeth in the Lord.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye just, and glory, all ye right of heart.

⁴ Help me escape from the hidden net that they set to trap me, for you are the one who protects me.

⁵ I put myself in your hands. Save me, Lord, for you are a trustworthy God.

⁶ I hate those who devote themselves to pointless idols; I trust in the Lord.

⁷ I will celebrate, happy in your love that never fails, for you have seen the problems I face and have paid attention to my troubles.

⁸ You haven't handed me over to my enemies; you have set me free.

⁹ Be kind to me Lord, for I am upset. I can hardly see from so much crying. I am completely wasting away.

¹⁰ Grief is killing me; my life is cut short by sadness; I am falling apart because of my troubles; I am worn to the bone.

¹¹ I am ridiculed by my enemies, particularly by my neighbors. My friends dread meeting me; people who see me in the street run the other way.

¹² I have been forgotten as if I were dead; I'm ignored like a broken pot.

¹³ I hear many people whispering about me; terror surrounds me. They plot together against me, planning to kill me.

¹⁴ But I put my trust in you, Lord, saying, “You are my God!”

¹⁵ My whole life is in your hands! Save me from those who hate me and persecute me!

¹⁶ May you look kindly on me, your servant. Save me because of your trustworthy love.

¹⁷ Lord, don't let me be disgraced, for I'm calling out to you. Instead let the wicked be disgraced, let them be silent in the grave.

¹⁸ Shut the mouths of those who tell lies against good people—those who speak contemptuously in their pride and arrogance!

¹⁹ How wonderful is the goodness you have reserved for those who honor you! In front of everyone you give this goodness to those who come to you for help.

²⁰ You shelter and protect them with your presence, far from their enemies who scheme against them. You keep them safe from attacks and accusations.

²¹ Bless the Lord, for he has shown me his wonderful trustworthy love when my city was being attacked

²² Terrified I cried out, “I am being destroyed right in front of you!” But you heard my cry when I called out for you to help me.

²³ Love the Lord, all you who trust in him! The Lord takes care of those who trust him, but he pays back in full those who are arrogant.

²⁴ Be strong and be confident, all you who put your hope in the Lord.

⁴ Drawe mee out of the nette, that they haue layde priuilie for mee: for thou art my strength.

¹⁸ May lying lips be silenced that speak against the righteous defiantly with arrogance and contempt.

¹⁹ How great is your goodness that you have stored up for those who revere you, that you perform for those who take refuge in you before all the children of mankind!

⁸ And thou closedest not me (al)together within the hands of the enemy; thou hast set my feet in a large place. (And thou enclosedest me not in the hands of the enemy; thou hast set me free in a large place.)

⁹ Lord, have thou mercy on me, for I am troubled; mine eye is troubled in ire, my soul and my womb also. (Lord, have thou mercy on me, for I am in trouble; my eyes be tired from so much grief, and my soul, and my womb, also be tired.)

¹³ for I heard despising of many men dwelling in compass. In that thing while they came together against me; they counselled to take my life. (for I have heard the despising of many men who live all around me. And when they came together against me; they plotted to take away my life.)

¹⁴ But, Lord, I hoped in thee, (or But, Lord, I put my trust in thee); I said, Thou art my God;

¹⁵ my times be in thine hands. Deliver thou me from the hands of mine enemies; and from them that pursue me. (my life is in thy hands. Rescue thou me from the power of my enemies; and from those who persecute me.)

¹⁶ Make thou clear thy face on thy servant; Lord, make thou me safe in thy mercy; (Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; Lord, save thou me in thy love;)

¹⁷ be I not shamed, for I inwardly called thee. Unpious men be ashamed, and be they led forth into hell; (let me not be shamed, for I have called upon thee. Let the unpious, or the unrighteous, be ashamed, and let them go down to Sheol, or the land of the dead;)

⁶ I have hated the observers of lying vanities, And I toward Jehovah have been confident.

⁷ I rejoice, and am glad in Thy kindness, In that Thou hast seen mine affliction, Thou hast known in adversities my soul.

⁸ And Thou hast not shut me up, Into the hand of an enemy, Thou hast caused my feet to stand in a broad place.

⁹ Favour me, O Jehovah, for distress is to me, Mine eye, my soul, and my body Have become old by provocation.

¹⁰ For my life hath been consumed in sorrow And my years in sighing. Feeble because of mine iniquity hath been my strength, And my bones have become old.

¹¹ Among all mine adversaries I have been a reproach, And to my neighbours exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintances, Those seeing me without — fled from me.

¹² I have been forgotten as dead out of mind, I have been as a perishing vessel.

¹³ For I have heard an evil account of many, Fear is round about. In their being united against me, To take my life they have devised,

¹⁴ And I on Thee — I have trusted, O Jehovah, I have said, 'Thou art my God.'

¹⁵ In Thy hand are my times, Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from my pursuers.

¹⁶ Cause Thy face to shine on Thy servant, Save me in Thy kindness.

¹⁸ Let lips of falsehood become dumb, That are speaking against the righteous, Ancient sayings, in pride and contempt.

¹⁹ How abundant is Thy goodness, That Thou hast laid up for those fearing Thee,

²⁰ Thou hast wrought for those trusting in Thee, Before sons of men. Thou hidest them in the secret place of Thy presence, From artifices of man, Thou concealest them in a tabernacle, From the strife of tongues.

²¹ Blessed is Jehovah, For He hath made marvellous His kindness To me in a city of bulwarks.

²² And I — I have said in my haste, 'I have been cut off from before Thine eyes,' But Thou hast heard the voice of my supplications, In my crying unto Thee.

²³ Love Jehovah, all ye His saints, Jehovah is keeping the faithful, And recompensing abundantly a proud doer.
