¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah: I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁵ My times are in thy hand: Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

¹⁶ Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: Save me in thy lovingkindness.

¹⁷ Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; for I have called upon thee: Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁷ Yahweh, I call out to you, so do not allow me to be disgraced. I desire that wicked people will be disgraced; I want them to soon die and go down to the place where the dead people are.

¹⁸ I desire that you will cause people MTY who tell lies to be unable to speak. Do that to people who are proud and those who arrogantly accuse righteous people.

¹⁴ But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.”

¹⁸ Let the false lips be shut, which say evil against the upright, looking down on him in their pride.

¹⁴ But I confided in thee, Jehovah; I said, thou art my God.

¹⁶ May you look kindly on me, your servant. Save me because of your trustworthy love.

¹⁷ Lord, don't let me be disgraced, for I'm calling out to you. Instead let the wicked be disgraced, let them be silent in the grave.

¹⁸ Shut the mouths of those who tell lies against good people—those who speak contemptuously in their pride and arrogance!

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

¹⁵ My times are in thine hande: deliuer mee from the hande of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

¹⁶ Make thy face to shine vpon thy seruant, and saue me through thy mercie.

¹⁷ Let me not be confounded, O Lord: for I haue called vpon thee: let the wicked bee put to confusion, and to silence in the graue.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be made dumme, which cruelly, proudly and spitefully speake against the righteous.

¹⁴ (31-15) But as for me, I have trusted in Thee, O LORD; I have said: 'Thou art my God.'

¹⁶ (31-17) Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; save me in Thy lovingkindness.

¹⁷ (31-18) O LORD, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon Thee; let the wicked be ashamed, let them be put to silence in the nether-world.

¹⁸ (31-19) Let the lying lips be dumb, which speak arrogantly against the righteous, with pride and contempt.

¹⁶ Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your covenant faithfulness.

¹⁷ Do not let me be humiliated, Yahweh; for I call out to you! May the wicked be humiliated! May they be silent in Sheol.

¹⁸ May lying lips be silenced that speak against the righteous defiantly with arrogance and contempt.

¹⁴ But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.”

¹⁷ be I not shamed, for I inwardly called thee. Unpious men be ashamed, and be they led forth into hell;

¹⁸ guileful lips be made dumb. That speak wickedness against a just or rightwise man; in pride, and in mis-using or in abusing.

¹⁴ But, Lord, I hoped in thee, (or But, Lord, I put my trust in thee); I said, Thou art my God;

¹⁵ my times be in thine hands. Deliver thou me from the hands of mine enemies; and from them that pursue me. (my life is in thy hands. Rescue thou me from the power of my enemies; and from those who persecute me.)

¹⁶ Make thou clear thy face on thy servant; Lord, make thou me safe in thy mercy; (Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; Lord, save thou me in thy love;)

¹⁷ be I not shamed, for I inwardly called thee. Unpious men be ashamed, and be they led forth into hell; (let me not be shamed, for I have called upon thee. Let the unpious, or the unrighteous, be ashamed, and let them go down to Sheol, or the land of the dead;)

¹⁸ guileful lips be made dumb. That speak wickedness against a just man; in pride, and in mis-using/in pride, and in abusing. (and let deceitful lips be made dumb. Yea, those who speak wickedness against the righteous; in pride, and in mis-using, or in pride, and in abusing.)

¹⁴ And I on Thee — I have trusted, O Jehovah, I have said, 'Thou art my God.'

¹⁵ In Thy hand are my times, Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from my pursuers.

¹⁶ Cause Thy face to shine on Thy servant, Save me in Thy kindness.

¹⁷ O Jehovah, let me not be ashamed, For I have called Thee, let the wicked be ashamed, Let them become silent to Sheol.

¹⁸ Let lips of falsehood become dumb, That are speaking against the righteous, Ancient sayings, in pride and contempt.
