Psalms 31:11-14 in English

¹¹ Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, Yea, unto my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me.

¹² I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ For I have heard the defaming of many, Terror on every side: While they took counsel together against me, They devised to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah: I said, Thou art my God.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and exult, ye righteous: and glory, all ye that are upright in heart.

¹¹ I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

¹² I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

¹¹ All of my enemies make fun of me, and even my neighbors despise me. Even my friends are afraid of me because they think I am being punished by God, and when they see me on the streets, they run away.

¹² People have forgotten me like they forget people who are dead. They think I am as useless as a broken pot.

¹³ I have heard people slandering me, and they have caused me to become terrified. My enemies are making plans in order to kill me.

¹⁴ But Yahweh, I trust in you. You are my God.

¹² I have gone from men's minds and memory like a dead man; I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ False statements against me have come to my ears; fear was on every side: they were talking together against me, designing to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I had faith in you, O Lord; I said, You are my God.

¹¹ More than to all mine oppressors, I am become exceedingly a reproach, even to my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that see me without flee from me.

¹² I am forgotten in their heart as a dead man; I am become like a broken vessel.

¹³ For I have heard the slander of many — terror on every side — when they take counsel together against me: they plot to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I confided in thee, Jehovah; I said, thou art my God.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye just, and glory, all ye right of heart.

¹¹ I am ridiculed by my enemies, particularly by my neighbors. My friends dread meeting me; people who see me in the street run the other way.

¹² I have been forgotten as if I were dead; I'm ignored like a broken pot.

¹³ I hear many people whispering about me; terror surrounds me. They plot together against me, planning to kill me.

¹⁴ But I put my trust in you, Lord, saying, “You are my God!”

¹¹ I was a reproch among all mine enemies, but specially among my neighbours: and a feare to mine acquaintance, who seeing me in the streete, fled from me.

¹² I am forgotten, as a dead man out of minde: I am like a broken vessell.

¹³ For I haue heard the rayling of great men: feare was on euery side, while they conspired together against mee, and consulted to take my life.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

¹¹ (31-12) Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, yea, unto my neighbours exceedingly, and a dread to mine acquaintance; they that see me without flee from me.

¹² (31-13) I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a useless vessel.

¹³ (31-14) For I have heard the whispering of many, terror on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

¹⁴ (31-15) But as for me, I have trusted in Thee, O LORD; I have said: 'Thou art my God.'

¹² (31:13) I am forgotten as a dead man out of the heart: I am become like a perishable vessel.

¹³ (31:14) For I have heard the slandering of many; terror was on every side, while they took counsel together against me: to take away my life did they purpose.

¹⁴ (31:15) But I trusted well in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and exult, ye righteous: And glory, all ye that are upright in heart.

¹¹ I have become the scorn of my neighbors, And the terror of my acquaintance; They who see me abroad flee from me.

¹² I am forgotten like a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.

¹³ I hear the slander of many; fear is on every side; For they take counsel together against me; They devise to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I trust in thee, O Jehovah! I say, “Thou art my God!”

¹¹ The scorn of all my foes, the butt of my neighbours am I, a terror to my acquaintance. At the sight of me in the street people turn quickly away.

¹² I am clean forgotten like the dead, am become like a ruined vessel.

¹³ I hear the whispers of many — terror on every side — scheming together against me, plotting to take my life.

¹⁴ But my trust is in you, Lord. “You are my God,” I say;

¹¹ The scorn of all my foes, the butt of my neighbors am I, a terror to my acquaintance. At the sight of me in the street people turn quickly away.

¹² I am clean forgotten like the dead, am become like a ruined vessel.

¹³ For I have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· the slander of many, terror on every side, while they conspire together against me, they plot to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I trust in you, Adonai . I said, “You are my God.”

¹¹ Because of all my enemies, people disdain me; my neighbors are appalled at my situation, and those who know me are horrified. Those who see me in the street run from me.

¹² I am forgotten as a dead man whom no one thinks about. I am like a broken pot.

¹³ For I have heard the whispering of many, terrifying news from every side as they plot together against me. They plot to take away my life.

¹⁴ But I trust in you, Yahweh; I say, “You are my God.”

¹² I am given to forgetting, as a dead man from the heart. I am made as a forlorn vessel;

¹³ for I heard despising of many men dwelling in compass. In that thing while they came together against me; they counselled to take my life.

¹⁴ But, Lord, I hoped in thee; I said, Thou art my God;

¹¹ Over all mine enemies I am made (a) shame, and greatly to my neighbours; and dread to my known. They that saw me withoutforth, fled from me; (I am shamed before all my enemies, and especially my neighbours; and I am thought of as someone to be feared by my acquaintances. Those who saw me withoutforth, fled from me;)

¹² I am given to forgetting, as a dead man from the heart. I am made as a (for)lorn vessel; (I am forgotten, like a dead man out of mind. I am made like a forlorn vessel;)

¹³ for I heard despising of many men dwelling in compass. In that thing while they came together against me; they counselled to take my life. (for I have heard the despising of many men who live all around me. And when they came together against me; they plotted to take away my life.)

¹⁴ But, Lord, I hoped in thee, (or But, Lord, I put my trust in thee); I said, Thou art my God;

¹¹ Among all mine adversaries I have been a reproach, And to my neighbours exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintances, Those seeing me without — fled from me.

¹² I have been forgotten as dead out of mind, I have been as a perishing vessel.

¹³ For I have heard an evil account of many, Fear is round about. In their being united against me, To take my life they have devised,

¹⁴ And I on Thee — I have trusted, O Jehovah, I have said, 'Thou art my God.'
