¹ A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David. I will extol thee, O Jehovah; for thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

² O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

³ O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

⁴ Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial name.

⁵ For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy cometh in the morning.

⁶ As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

⁷ Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

⁸ I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication:

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David, an utterance of extreme fear.

² O Lord, I have hoped in thee; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness and rescue me.

³ Incline thine ear to me; make haste to rescue me: be thou to me for a protecting God, and for a house of refuge to save me.

⁴ For thou art my strength and my refuge; and thou shalt guide me for thy name's sake, and maintain me.

⁵ Thou shalt bring me out of the snare which they have hidden for me; for thou, O Lord, art my defender.

⁶ Into thine hands I will commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.

⁷ Thou hast hated them that idly persist in vanities: but I have hoped in the Lord.

⁸ I will exult and be glad in thy mercy: for thou hast looked upon mine affliction; thou hast saved my soul from distresses.

⁸ And you have not shut me up into the hands of the enemy: you have set my feet in a wide place.

¹ Yahweh, I praise you because you rescued me. You did not allow me to die, with the result that my enemies could gloat/rejoice.

² Yahweh, my God, I called out for you to help me when I was ill, and you healed me.

³ You saved/restored me when I was dying MTY. I was nearly dead, but you caused me to get well again.

⁴ All you who belong to Yahweh, sing praise to him! Think about what God, the holy one, has done, and thank him!

⁵ When he becomes angry, he is angry for only a very short time HYP, but he is good to us all of our life. We may cry during the night, but the next morning we will be joyful.

⁶ As for me, when I had no troubles, I said to myself, “No one will defeat me!”

⁷ Yahweh, because you were good to me, at first you caused me to be safe as though I was inside MET a mountain. But then I became ill, and I thought that you had turned away from me, and I became afraid.

⁸ Then I called out to you, and I pleaded for you to help me.

³ O Lord, you have made my soul come again from the underworld: you have given me life and kept me from going down among the dead.

⁴ Make songs to the Lord, O you saints of his, and give praise to his holy name.

⁵ For his wrath is only for a minute; in his grace there is life; weeping may be for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

⁶ When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved.

⁷ Lord, by your grace you have kept my mountain strong: when your face was turned from me I was troubled.

⁸ My voice went up to you, O Lord; I made my prayer to the Lord.

² Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

³ Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol, thou hast quickened me from among those that go down to the pit.

⁴ Sing psalms unto Jehovah, ye saints of his, and give thanks in remembrance of his holiness.

⁵ For a moment is passed in his anger, a life in his favour; at even weeping cometh for the night, and at morn there is rejoicing.

⁶ As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

⁷ Jehovah, by thy favour thou hadst made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

⁸ I called to thee, Jehovah, and unto the Lord did I make supplication:

¹ Unto the end, a psalm for David, in an ecstasy.

² In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.

³ Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.

⁴ For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name’s sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me.

⁵ Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

⁶ Into thy hands I commend my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.

⁷ Thou hast hated them that regard vanities, to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord:

⁸ I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy. For thou best regarded my humility, thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.

¹ A psalm of David. A psalm for the dedication of the Temple. I want to tell everyone how good you are, Lord, for you saved me, and you didn't let my enemies triumph over me.

² Lord, my God, I called out to you for help, and you have healed me.

³ Lord, you rescued me from the grave, you brought me back to life, saving me from going down into the pit of death.

⁴ You who trust the Lord, sing praises to him, and be thankful for his holy character!

⁵ For his anger only lasts a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. You may spend the night in tears, but happiness comes with the morning.

⁶ When things were going well, I said, “Nothing will ever shake me!”

⁷ Lord, when you showed me your favor I stood as strong as a mountain; when you turned away from me I was terrified.

⁸ I called out to you for help, Lord. I asked the Lord for grace, saying,

¹ A Psalme or song of the dedication of the house of David. I will magnifie thee, O Lord: for thou hast exalted mee, and hast not made my foe to reioyce ouer me.

² O Lord my God, I cried vnto thee, and thou hast restored me.

³ O Lord, thou hast brought vp my soule out of the graue: thou hast reuiued me from them that goe downe into the pit.

⁴ Sing praises vnto the Lord, ye his Saintes, and giue thankes before the remembrance of his Holinesse.

⁵ For he endureth but a while in his anger: but in his fauour is life: weeping may abide at euening, but ioy commeth in the morning.

⁶ And in my prosperitie I sayde, I shall neuer be moued.

⁷ For thou Lord of thy goodnes hadest made my mountaine to stande strong: but thou didest hide thy face, and I was troubled.

⁸ Then cried I vnto thee, O Lord, and praied to my Lord.

⁴ (30-5) Sing praise unto the LORD, O ye His godly ones, and give thanks to His holy name.

⁵ (30-6) For His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for a life-time; weeping may tarry for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.

⁶ (30-7) Now I had said in my security: 'I shall never be moved.'

⁷ (30-8) Thou hadst established, O LORD, in Thy favour my mountain as a stronghold — Thou didst hide Thy face; I was affrighted.

⁸ (30-9) Unto Thee, O LORD, did I call, and unto the LORD I made supplication:

⁵ (30:6) For his anger is momentary, but life is in his favor: in the evening cometh weeping to stay for a night, but in the morning, there is joyful song.

⁶ (30:7) And I had said indeed in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

⁷ (30:8) Lord, by thy favor hadst thou caused my mountain to stand in strength: thou didst hide thy face, and I was terrified.

⁵ For his anger endureth but a moment, But his favor through life; In the evening sorrow may be a guest, But joy cometh in the morning.

⁶ I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved!”

⁷ Thou, O LORD! by thy favor, hast made my mountain to stand strong; Thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled!

⁸ I cried unto thee, O LORD! To the LORD I made supplication:

² I cried to you for help, O Lord my God, and you healed me.

³ You have brought me up, Lord, from Sheol, from my way to the pit back to life you have called me.

⁴ Sing praise to the Lord, faithful people; give thanks to his holy name.

⁵ For his anger lasts only a moment, his favour endures for a lifetime. Weeping may lodge for the night, but the morning brings shouts of joy.

⁶ When all went well, I imagined that never should I be shaken.

⁷ For by your favour, O Lord, you had set me on mountains strong: but you hide your face, and I was confounded.

⁸ Then to you, Lord, I cried, to the Lord I begged for mercy,

⁴ Ye saints of the Lord, sing to the Lord; and acknowledge ye to the mind of his holiness.

⁵ For ire is in his indignation; and life is in his will. Weeping shall dwell at eventide; and gladness at the morrowtide.

⁶ Forsooth I said in my plenty; I shall not be moved without end.

⁷ Lord, in thy will; thou hast given virtue to my fairness. Thou turnedest away thy face from me; and I am made troubled.

⁸ Lord, I shall cry to thee; and I shall pray to my God.

¹ The psalm of the song, for the hallowing of the house of David. Lord, I shall enhance thee, for thou hast up-taken me; and thou delightedest not mine enemies on me. (A psalm, yea, a song by David, for the dedication of the House or the Temple. Lord, I shall exalt thee, for thou hast taken me up or for thou hast lifted me up; and thou hast not let my enemies have delight, or to gloat, over me.)

³ Lord, thou leddest out my soul from hell; thou savedest me from them that go down into the pit. (Lord, thou hast led me up from Sheol, or the land of the dead; thou hast pulled me out from among those who go down into the pit.)

⁴ Ye saints of the Lord, sing to the Lord; and acknowledge ye to the mind of his holiness (or and give ye thanks at the remembrance of his holiness).

⁵ For ire is in his indignation; and life is in his will. Weeping shall dwell at eventide; and gladness at the morrowtide. (For there is anger in his indignation; but there is life in his favour or in his good will. Weeping shall remain through the evening; but gladness shall come in the morning.)

⁶ Forsooth I said in my plenty; I shall not be moved into without end. (But I said in the midst of my plenty, or of my abundance, I shall never be shaken, or defeated.)

⁷ Lord, in thy will; thou hast given virtue to my fairness. Thou turnedest away thy face from me; and I am made troubled. (Lord, by thy favour, thou hast protected me; yea, like a mountain stronghold. But then thou hast turned thy face away from me; and I was greatly troubled.)

⁸ Lord, I shall cry to thee; and I shall pray to my God. (Lord, I cried to thee; yea, I prayed to my God.)

¹ A Psalm. — A song of the dedication of the house of David. I exalt Thee, O Jehovah, For Thou hast drawn me up, and hast not let mine enemies rejoice over me.

² Jehovah my God, I have cried to Thee, And Thou dost heal me.

³ Jehovah, Thou hast brought up from Sheol my soul, Thou hast kept me alive, From going down to the pit.

⁴ Sing praise to Jehovah, ye His saints, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness,

⁵ For — a moment is in His anger, Life is in His good-will, At even remaineth weeping, and at morn singing.

⁶ And I — I have said in mine ease, 'I am not moved — to the age.

⁷ O Jehovah, in Thy good pleasure, Thou hast caused strength to remain for my mountain,' Thou hast hidden Thy face — I have been troubled.

⁸ Unto Thee, O Jehovah, I call, And unto Jehovah I make supplication.
