Psalms 23:4-6 in English

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

⁶ Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.

⁴ He that is innocent in his hands and pure in his heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbour.

⁵ He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.

⁶ This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek the face of the God of Jacob. Pause.

⁴ Even when I am walking through very dangerous dark ravines where I might be killed, I will not be afraid of anything because you are with me. You protect me like a shepherd protects his sheep. He uses his club and his walking stick to protect them from being attacked by wild animals.

⁵ You prepare a great feast for me, in a place where my enemies can see me. You joyfully receive me, as people joyfully receive the guests they have invited by pouring olive oil over their heads. You have given me very many blessings!

⁶ I am certain that you will be good to me and act mercifully toward me as long as I live; and then, O Yahweh, I will live in your home in heaven forever.

⁶ Truly, blessing and mercy will be with me all the days of my life; and I will have a place in the house of the Lord all my days.

⁴ Even when I walk through the valley dark as death, I'm not afraid of any evil, because you are right there with me; your rod and your staff protect me.

⁵ You prepare a banquet for me before my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with olive oil. My cup is so full it overflows!

⁶ I'm absolutely certain that your goodness and trustworthy love will be with me all through my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

⁶ And thy mercy shall follow me; in all the days of my life. And that I dwell in the house of the Lord; into the length of days.

⁴ For why though I shall go in the midst of shadow of death; I shall not dread evils, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff; those have comforted me. (For though I go in the midst of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they have comforted me.)

⁵ Thou hast made ready a board in my sight; against them that trouble me. Thou hast made fat mine head with oil; and my cup, that filleth greatly, is full clear. (Thou hast prepared a table before me; before those who trouble me. Thou hast covered my head with oil; and my cup, which thou greatly filleth, is full, indeed it runneth over.)

⁶ And thy mercy shall follow me; in all the days of my life. And that I dwell in the house of the Lord; into the length of days. (And thy love shall follow me; all the days of my life. And I shall live in the House of the Lord forever and ever.)

⁴ Also — when I walk in a valley of death-shade, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff — they comfort me.

⁵ Thou arrangest before me a table, Over-against my adversaries, Thou hast anointed with oil my head, My cup is full!

⁶ Only — goodness and kindness pursue me, All the days of my life, And my dwelling is in the house of Jehovah, For a length of days!
