Psalms 18:35-41 in English

³⁵ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation; And thy right hand hath holden me up, And thy gentleness hath made me great.

³⁶ Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped.

³⁷ I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them; Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.

³⁸ I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise: They shall fall under my feet.

³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

⁴⁰ Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me, That I might cut off them that hate me.

⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save; Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.

³⁵ Yahweh, you protect and save me with your shield; you have made me safe by your power MTY. I have become ◄strong/a great king► because you have helped me.

³⁶ You havecleared the road for me, with the result that now I do not slip/stumble.

³⁷ I have pursued my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until I had defeated/killed them all.

³⁸ When I strike them, they are not able to get up again; they lie on the ground, defeated.

³⁹ You have enabled me to be strong in order that I can fight battles and defeat my enemies.

⁴⁰ You caused my enemies to run away (OR, you enabled me to put my foot on my enemies' necks after I captured them and forced them to lie on the ground); I have gotten rid of all those who hated me.

⁴¹ They called out for someone to help them, but no one saved them.

³⁹ For I have been armed by you with strength for the fight: you have made low under me those who come out against me.

⁴⁰ By you their backs are turned in flight, so that my haters are cut off.

⁴¹ They were crying out, but there was no one to come to their help: even to the Lord, but he gave them no answer.

³⁵ And thou didst give me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand held me up; and thy condescending gentleness hath made me great.

³⁶ Thou didst enlarge my steps under me, and mine ankles have not wavered.

³⁷ I pursued mine enemies, and overtook them; and I turned not again till they were consumed.

³⁸ I crushed them, and they were not able to rise: they fell under my feet.

³⁹ And thou girdedst me with strength to battle; thou didst subdue under me those that rose up against me.

⁴⁰ And mine enemies didst thou make to turn their backs unto me, and those that hated me I destroyed.

⁴¹ They cried, and there was none to save; — unto Jehovah, and he answered them not.

³⁵ You protect me with the shield of your salvation; you support me with your powerful right hand; your help has made me great.

³⁶ You gave me space in which to walk, and prevented my feet from slipping.

³⁷ I chased my enemies, and caught up with them. I did not turn around until I had destroyed them.

³⁸ I struck them down—they couldn't get up. They fell at my feet.

³⁹ You made me strong for battle; you made those who rose up against me kneel down before me.

⁴⁰ You made my enemies run away; I destroyed all my enemies.

⁴¹ They cried out for help, but no one came to rescue them. They even called out to the Lord, but he did not answer them.

³⁵ Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy right hand hath stayed me, and thy louing kindenes hath caused me to increase.

³⁶ Thou hast enlarged my steps vnder mee, and mine heeles haue not slid.

³⁷ I haue pursued mine enemies, and taken them, and haue not turned againe till I had consumed them.

³⁸ I haue wounded them, that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete.

³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength to battell: them, that rose against me, thou hast subdued vnder me.

⁴⁰ And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

⁴¹ They cryed but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but hee answered them not.

³⁷ (18:38) I pursue my enemies, and overtake them; and I return not again till I have made an end of them.

³⁸ (18:39) I crush them that they are not able to rise: they fall under my feet.

³⁹ (18:40) For thou hast girded me with strength for the war: thou subduest my opponents under me.

⁴⁰ (18:41) And my enemies thou causest to turn their back to me; and those that hate me,—that I may destroy them.

⁴¹ (18:42) They cry, but there is none to help; unto the Lord,—but he answereth them not.

³⁵ Thou gavest me the shield of thy protection; Thy right hand held me up, And thy goodness made me great.

³⁶ Thou didst make a wide path for my steps, So that my feet did not stumble.

³⁷ I pursued my enemies and overtook them, And turned not back till I had destroyed them.

³⁸ I smote them, so that they could not rise; They fell under my feet.

³⁹ Thou didst gird me with strength for the battle; Thou didst cast down my adversaries under me.

⁴⁰ Thou didst cause my enemies to turn their backs, So that I destroyed them that hated me.

⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to help; To Jehovah, but he answered them not.

³⁵ The shield of your help you gave me, your right hand supports me, you stoop down to make me great.

³⁶ In your strength I took giant strides, and my feet never slipped.

³⁸ I shall all-break them, and they shall not be able to stand; they shall fall under my feet.

³⁹ And thou hast girded me with virtue to battle; and thou hast overturned under me men rising against me.

⁴⁰ And thou hast given mine enemies aback or back to me; and thou hast destroyed them that hated me.

⁴¹ They cried, and none there was that made them safe; they cried to the Lord, and he heard not them.

³⁵ And thou hast given to me the covering of thine health; and thy right hand hath up-taken me, (or And thou hast given me the covering of thy salvation, or thy deliverance; and thy right hand hath taken me up). And thy chastising amended me into the end; and that chastising of thee shall teach me.

³⁶ Thou alargedest my paces under me; and my steps be not made unsteadfast. (Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; and my feet have not slipped, or stumbled.)

³⁷ I shall pursue mine enemies, and I shall take (hold of) them; and I shall not turn (again) till they fail (or and I shall not return until they fall).

³⁸ I shall all-break them, and they shall not be able to stand; they shall fall under my feet.

³⁹ And thou hast girded me with virtue to battle; and thou hast overturned under me men rising against me. (And thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; and thou hast put beneath me those who rose up against me.)

⁴⁰ And thou hast given mine enemies aback to me; and thou hast destroyed men hating me/and thou hast destroyed them that hated me. (And thou hast given me the backs of my enemies; and I have destroyed those who hated me.)

⁴¹ They cried, and none there was that made them safe; they cried to the Lord, and he heard not them. (They cried, but there was no one to save them; they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them.)

³⁵ And Thou givest to me the shield of Thy salvation, And Thy right hand doth support me, And Thy lowliness maketh me great.

³⁶ Thou enlargest my step under me, And mine ankles have not slidden.

³⁷ I pursue mine enemies, and overtake them, And turn back not till they are consumed.

³⁸ I smite them, and they are not able to rise, They fall under my feet,

³⁹ And Thou girdest me with strength for battle, Causest my withstanders to bow under me.

⁴⁰ As to mine enemies — Thou hast given to me the neck, As to those hating me — I cut them off.

⁴¹ They cry, and there is no saviour, On Jehovah, and He doth not answer them.
