² Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

³ I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

⁴ The cords of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

⁵ The cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came upon me.

⁶ In my distress I called upon Jehovah, And cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry before him came into his ears.

⁷ Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations also of the mountains quaked And were shaken, because he was wroth.

⁸ There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it.

² The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.

³ Day to day utters speech, and night to night proclaims knowledge.

⁴ There are no speeches or words, in which their voices are not heard.

⁵ Their voice is gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

⁶ In the sun he has set his tabernacle; and he comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber: he will exult as a giant to run his course.

⁷ His going forth is from the extremity of heaven, and his circuit to the other end of heaven: and no one shall be hidden from his heat.

⁸ The law of the Lord is perfect, converting souls: the testimony of the Lord is faithful, instructing babes.

² Yahweh is like an overhanging rock DOU, MET under which I can hide from my enemies; he is like a strong fortress, the one who protects me; he protects me like a shield MET protects a soldier; he is the one to whom I go ◄for refuge/to be protected/safe►, and he defends me by his great power IDM.

³ I called out to Yahweh, who deserves to be praised, and he rescued me from my enemies.

⁴ All around me were dangerous situations in which I might be killed PRS; it was as though there were huge waves MET that almost crashed on me and killed me.

⁵ It was as though the place where dead people are had ropes that were wrapped around me, or it was as though there was a trap MET that would seize and kill me.

⁶ But when I was very distressed, I called out to Yahweh, and from his temple he heard me. He listened to me when I cried out for help.

⁷ Then the earth quaked/shook strongly DOU; the mountains shook very strongly from their centers DOU because Yahweh was angry.

⁸ It was as though smoke poured out from his nostrils, and as though burning coals came out of his mouth.

³ I will send up my cry to the Lord, who is to be praised; so will I be made safe from those who are against me.

⁴ The cords of death were round me, and the seas of evil put me in fear.

⁵ The cords of hell were round me: the nets of death came on me.

⁶ In my trouble my voice went up to the Lord, and my cry to my God: my voice came to his hearing in his holy Temple, and my prayer came before him, even into his ears.

⁷ Then trouble and shock came on the earth; and the bases of the mountains were moved and shaking, because he was angry.

⁸ There went up a smoke from his nose, and a fire of destruction from his mouth: flames were lighted by it.

⁵ The bands of Sheol surrounded me, the cords of death encountered me.

⁶ In my distress I called upon Jehovah, and I cried out to my God; he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, into his ears.

⁷ Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled and shook, because he was wroth.

⁸ There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals burned forth from it.

² The heavens shew forth the glory of God, and the firmament declareth the work of his hands.

³ Day to day uttereth speech, and night to night sheweth knowledge.

⁴ There are no speeches nor languages, where their voices are not heard.

⁵ Their sound hath gone forth into all the earth: and their words unto the ends of the world.

⁶ He hath set his tabernacle in the sun: and he, as a bridegroom coming out of his bride chamber, Hath rejoiced as a giant to run the way:

⁷ His going out is from the end of heaven, And his circuit even to the end thereof: and there is no one that can hide himself from his heat.

⁸ The law of the Lord is unspotted, converting souls: the testimony of the Lord is faithful, giving wisdom to little ones.

² The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior. He is my God, my rock who protects me. He shields me from harm, his power protects me, he keeps me safe.

³ I call for help from the Lord who should be praised, and he saves me from those who hate me.

⁴ Ropes of death encircled me, surging waters of destruction flooded over me;

⁵ The grave wound its ropes around me; death set snares for me.

⁶ In my despair I called on the Lord—I cried out to my God for help. He heard my voice from his Temple—my cry for help reached his ears.

⁷ The earth shook to and fro; the foundations of the mountains trembled, shaking because of his anger.

⁸ Smoke came out of his nostrils, and fire came from his mouth; burning coals blazed before him.

² The Lord is my rocke, and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth me, my God and my strength: in him will I trust, my shield, the horne also of my saluation, and my refuge.

³ I will call vpon the Lord, which is worthie to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.

⁵ The sorowes of the graue haue compassed me about: the snares of death ouertooke me.

⁶ But in my trouble did I call vpon the Lord, and cryed vnto my God: he heard my voyce out of his Temple, and my crye did come before him, euen into his eares.

⁷ Then the earth trembled, and quaked: the foundations also of the mountaines mooued and shooke, because he was angrie.

⁸ Smoke went out at his nostrels, and a consuming fire out of his mouth: coales were kindled thereat.

⁷ (18-8) Then the earth did shake and quake, the foundations also of the mountains did tremble; they were shaken, because He was wroth.

⁸ (18-9) Smoke arose up in His nostrils, and fire out of His mouth did devour; coals flamed forth from Him.

⁷ The earth was moved together, and trembled greatly; the foundaments of hills were troubled altogether, and moved together, for he was wroth to them.

⁸ Smoke went up in the ire or wrath of the Lord, and fire burnt out from his face; coals were kindled of him.

⁸ Smoke went up in the ire of the Lord, and fire burnt out from his face; coals were kindled of him. (Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire came out of his mouth; and coals were kindled by it.)

⁶ In mine adversity I call Jehovah, And unto my God I cry. He heareth from His temple my voice, And My cry before Him cometh into His ears.

⁷ And shake and tremble doth the earth, And foundations of hills are troubled, And they shake — because He hath wrath.

⁸ Gone up hath smoke by His nostrils, And fire from His mouth consumeth, Coals have been kindled by it.
