Help us?

Psalms 17:2-12 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; Let thine eyes look upon equity.
3 Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 As for the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the ways of the violent.
5 My steps have held fast to thy paths, My feet have not slipped.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt answer me, O God: Incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Show thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them that take refuge in thee From those that rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
9 From the wicked that oppress me, My deadly enemies, that compass me about.
10 They are inclosed in their own fat: With their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now compassed us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.
12 He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

2 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
3 The Lord is my firm support, and my refuge, and my deliverer; my God is my helper, I will hope in him; he is my defender, and the horn of my salvation, and my helper.
4 I will call upon the Lord with praises, and I shall be saved from mine enemies.
5 The pangs of death compassed me, and the torrents of ungodliness troubled me exceedingly.
6 The pangs of hell came round about me: the snares of death prevented me.
7 And when I was afflicted I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: he heard my voice out of his holy temple, and my cry shall enter before him, even into his ears.
8 Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains were disturbed, and were shaken, because God was angry with them.
9 There went up a smoke in his wrath, and fire burst into a flame at his presence: coals were kindled at it.
10 And he bowed the heaven, and came down: and thick darkness was under his feet.
11 And he mounted on cherubs and flew: he flew on the wings of winds.
12 And he made darkness his secret place: round about him was his tabernacle, even dark water in the clouds of the air.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Bible in Basic English

2 Be my judge; for your eyes see what is right.
3 You have put my heart to the test, searching me in the night; you have put me to the test and seen no evil purpose in me; I will keep my mouth from sin.
4 As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
5 I have kept my feet in your ways, my steps have not been turned away.
6 My cry has gone up to you, for you will give me an answer, O God: let your ear be turned to me, and give attention to my words.
7 Make clear the wonder of your mercy, O saviour of those who put their faith in your right hand, from those who come out against them.
8 Keep me as the light of your eyes, covering me with the shade of your wings,
9 From the evil-doers who are violent to me, and from those who are round me, desiring my death.
10 They are shut up in their fat: with their mouths they say words of pride.
11 They have made a circle round our steps: their eyes are fixed on us, forcing us down to the earth;
12 Like a lion desiring its food, and like a young lion waiting in secret places.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Douay-Rheims 1899

2 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:
3 The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
4 Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.
5 The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.
6 The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me.
7 In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.
8 The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.
9 There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.
10 He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
11 And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew; he flew upon the wings of the winds.
12 And he made darkness his covert, his pavilion round about him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Free Bible Version

2 Vindicate me before you—for you see what is right.
3 You have observed my thoughts, you have visited me at night, you have examined me—and you have found nothing wrong. I promised myself I wouldn't say anything I shouldn't.
4 With regard to the actions of others: I have done what you told me and I have avoided what violent people do.
5 I have not strayed from your path; my feet have not slipped from it.
6 God, I call out to you because I know you will answer; please listen carefully to what I have to say.
7 Show me how wonderful your trustworthy love really is, Savior of those who come to you for protection against their enemies!
8 Keep me safe as someone you love; hide me underneath your wings.
9 Protect me from the attacks of the wicked who want to destroy me, from my enemies who surround me, intent on killing me.
10 They have no compassion, and all they have to say is pure arrogance.
11 They hunt me down and surround me, looking for the chance to knock me down in the dust.
12 They are like lions, longing to tear their prey apart; like fierce lions crouching in ambush.

3 Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast thought of me in the night; thou hast refined me—thou couldst find nothing: my purpose doth not pass beyond the words of my mouth.

2 Let my sentence come out of your presence. Let your eyes look on equity.
3 You have proved my heart. You have visited me in the night. You have tried me, and found nothing. I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.
4 As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
5 My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet have not slipped.
6 I have called on you, for you will answer me, God. Turn your ear to me. Hear my speech.
7 Show your marvelous loving kindness, you who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies.
8 Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings,
9 from the wicked who oppress me, my deadly enemies, who surround me.
10 They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now surrounded us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.
12 He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Noah Webster Bible

2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thy eyes behold the things that are equal.
3 Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 Uphold my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thy ear to me, and hear my speech.
7 Show thy wonderful loving-kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them who put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them .
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shade of thy wings.
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who encompass me,
10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling

2 My doom come forth of thy cheer; thine eyes see they equity.
3 Thou hast proved mine heart, and hast visited me in the night; thou hast examined, or assayed, me by fire, and wickedness is not found in me.
4 That my mouth speak not of the works of men; for the words of thy lips I have kept hard ways.
5 Make thou perfect my goings in thy paths; that my steps be not moved.
6 I cried, for thou, God, heardest me; bow down thy ear to me, and hear thou my words.
7 Make wonderful thy mercies; that makest safe them that hope in thee.
8 Keep thou me as the apple of thine eye; and from them that against-stand thy right hand. Cover thou me under the shadow of thy wings;
9 from the face of unpious men, that have tormented me. Mine enemies have encompassed my soul;
10 they have closed together their fatness; the mouth of them spake pride.
11 They casted me forth, and have en-compassed me now; they ordained to bow down their eyes into the earth.
12 They, as a lion made ready to his prey, have taken me; and as the whelp of a lion dwelling in hid places.

Psalms 17:2-12 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

2 My doom come forth of thy cheer; thine eyes see they equity. (Let my judgement come forth from thy lips; let thine eyes be fixed on justice.)
3 Thou hast proved mine heart, and hast visited (me) in the night; thou hast examined, or assayed, me by fire, and wickedness is not found in me.
4 That my mouth speak not (of) the works of men; for the words of thy lips I have kept hard ways. (My mouth shall not speak of the works of men; by the words of thy lips I have kept myself from bad ways.)
5 Make thou perfect my goings in thy paths; that my steps be not moved. (Make thou perfect my goings on thy paths; so that my steps will not slip, or stumble, or so that I do not fall.)
6 I cried, for thou, God, heardest me; bow down thy ear to me, and hear thou my words. (I cried, for I know that thou, God, shalt answer me; bow down thy ear to me, and listen to my words.)
7 Make wonderful thy mercies; that makest safe them that hope in thee. (Show thou me thy constant love, thou who savest me; with thy right hand save thou those who trust in thee, from those who stand against them.)
8 Keep thou me as the apple of thine eye; and from them that against-stand thy right hand. Cover thou me under the shadow of thy wings; (Keep thou me as the apple of thine eye. Cover thou me, or hide me, under the shadow of thy wings;)
9 from the face of unpious men, that have tormented me. Mine enemies have (en)compassed my soul; (from the face of the unpious, or of the wicked, who torment me. My enemies have surrounded me;)
10 they have closed (al)together their fatness; the mouth of them spake pride. (they be enclosed in their own fatness; their mouths have spoken proudly, or boastfully.)
11 They casted me forth, and have (en)compassed me now; they ordained to bow down their eyes into the earth. (They surround me now, wherever I turn; they lie in wait, to bring me down to the ground.)
12 They, as a lion made ready to his prey, have taken me; and as the whelp of a lion dwelling in hid places. (They be ready to catch me, like a lion catcheth its prey; and like the cub of a lion living in hidden places.)

Psalms 17:2-12 in Young's Literal Translation

2 From before thee my judgment doth go out; Thine eyes do see uprightly.
3 Thou hast proved my heart, Thou hast inspected by night, Thou hast tried me, Thou findest nothing; My thoughts pass not over my mouth.
4 As to doings of man, Through a word of Thy lips I have observed The paths of a destroyer;
5 To uphold my goings in Thy paths, My steps have not slidden.
6 I — I called Thee, for Thou dost answer me, O God, incline Thine ear to me, hear my speech.
7 Separate wonderfully Thy kindness, O Saviour of the confiding, By Thy right hand, from withstanders.
8 Keep me as the apple, the daughter of the eye; In shadow of Thy wings thou dost hide me.
9 From the face of the wicked who spoiled me. Mine enemies in soul go round against me.
10 Their fat they have closed up, Their mouths have spoken with pride:
11 'Our steps now have compassed him;' Their eyes they set to turn aside in the land.
12 His likeness as a lion desirous to tear, As a young lion dwelling in secret places.
