Psalms 16:2-6 in English

² O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond thee.

³ As for the saints that are in the earth, They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god: Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take their names upon my lips.

⁵ Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot.

⁶ The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly heritage.

² Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let mine eyes behold righteousness.

³ Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me by night; thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: I am purposed that my mouth shall not speak amiss.

⁴ As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded myself from hard ways.

⁵ Direct my steps in thy paths, that my steps slip not.

⁶ I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words.

³ Your people who live in this land are wonderful; I delight to be with them.

⁴ Those who choose to worship other gods will have many things that cause them to be sad. I will not join them when they make sacrifices to their gods; I will not even join them when they speak MTY the names of their gods.

⁵ Yahweh, you are the one whom I have chosen, and you give me great blessings. You protect me and control what happens to me.

⁶ Yahweh has given me a wonderful place in which to live; I am delighted with all the things that he has given me MET.

⁴ Their sorrows will be increased who go after another god: I will not take drink offerings from their hands, or take their names on my lips.

⁵ The Lord is my heritage and the wine of my cup; you are the supporter of my right.

⁶ Fair are the places marked out for me; I have a noble heritage.

² Thou my soul hast said to Jehovah, Thou art the Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; —

³ To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent thou hast said, In them is all my delight.

⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, and I will not take up their names into my lips.

³ Thou hast proved my heart, and visited it by night, thou hast tried me by fire: and iniquity hath not been found in me.

⁴ That my mouth may not speak the works of men: for the sake of the words of thy lips, I have kept hard ways.

⁵ Perfect thou my goings in thy paths: that my footsteps be not moved.

⁶ I have cried to thee, for thou, O God, hast heard me: O incline thy ear unto me, and hear my words.

² I tell the Lord, “Apart from you Lord, I don't have anything that's good.”

³ As for the holy people in the land, they are the ones who are truly great. I appreciate them.

⁴ Those who run after other gods will face a lot of trouble. I will not participate in their offerings of blood, I will not even speak the names of their gods.

⁵ Lord, you alone are all I have; you give me what I need; you safeguard my future.

⁶ The land divisions have worked out in my favor—my property is wonderful!

² O my soule, thou hast sayd vnto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my weldoing extendeth not to thee,

³ But to the Saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent: all my delite is in them.

⁴ The sorowes of them, that offer to an other god, shall be multiplied: their offerings of blood will I not offer, neither make mention of their names with my lips.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou shalt mainteine my lot.

⁶ The lines are fallen vnto me in pleasant places: yea, I haue a faire heritage.

² I have said unto the LORD: 'Thou art my Lord; I have no good but in Thee';

³ As for the holy that are in the earth, they are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

⁴ Let the idols of them be multiplied that make suit unto another; their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names upon my lips.

⁴ Multiplied shall be the sorrows of those who give presents to another god: I will not pour out their drink-offerings of blood, nor bear their names upon my lips.

⁵ Thou, O Lord, art the portion of my inheritance, and my cup; thou hast drawn my lot.

⁶ My possessions are fallen in agreeable places: yea, my heritage is pleasant to me.

⁵ Jehovah is my portion and my cup; Thou wilt maintain my lot!

⁶ My portion hath fallen to me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly inheritance.

² I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my happiness rests in you alone.

³ Those who are holy in the land, they, they alone, are the noble ones; all my delight is in them.”

⁴ Those who choose other gods find endless sorrow. In their offerings of blood I will have no part nor take their name on my lips.

⁵ The Lord is my share and my portion, my fate is in your strong hands.

⁶ The boundary lines of my life mark out delightful country, my heritage pleases me well.

² I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my happiness rests in you alone.

³ Those who are holy in the land, they, they alone, are the noble ones; all my delight is in them.”

³ As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another deity. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.

⁵ Adonai assigned my portion and my cup. You made my lot secure.

⁶ The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance.

² I say to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; my goodness is nothing apart from you.

³ As for the holy people who are on the earth, they are noble people; all my delight is in them.

⁴ Their troubles will be increased, those who seek out other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods or lift up their names with my lips.

⁵ Yahweh, you are my chosen portion and my cup. You hold onto my lot.

⁶ Measuring lines have been laid for me in pleasant places; surely a pleasing inheritance is mine.

² My soul, you have said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.”

⁴ The sicknesses of them be multi-plied; afterward they hasted. I shall not gather together the conventicles, or small covents, of them of bloods; and I shall not be mindful of their names by my lips.

⁵ The Lord is the part of mine heritage, and of my passion; thou art, that shall restore mine heritage to me.

⁶ Cords felled to me in full clear things; for mine heritage is full clear to me.

² I said to the Lord, Thou art my God; for thou hast no need of my goods. (I said to the Lord, Thou art my God; and every good thing that I have, cometh from thee.)

³ To the saints that be in the land of him; he made wonderful all my wills in them. (To the wonderful saints of him who be in the land; in whom be all my delight.)

⁴ The sicknesses of them be multiplied; afterward they hasted. I shall not gather together the conventicles, either little covents /or small covents, of them of bloods; and I shall not be mindful of their names by my lips. (May the sicknesses of those who hasten after other gods, be multiplied. I shall not offer their blood offerings; and I shall not remember, or speak, their names with my lips.)

⁵ The Lord is the part of mine heritage, and of my passion; thou art, that shall restore mine heritage to me. (The Lord is the portion of my inheritance, and of my cup; thou art he, who shall restore my inheritance to me.)

⁶ Cords felled to me in full clear things; for mine heritage is full clear to me. (The cords, or the boundary lines, fell to me in pleasant places; I am well content with my inheritance.)

² Thou hast said to Jehovah, 'My Lord Thou art;' My good is not for thine own sake;

³ For the holy ones who are in the land, And the honourable, all my delight is in them.

⁴ Multiplied are their griefs, Who have hastened backward; I pour not out their libations of blood, Nor do I take up their names on my lips.

⁵ Jehovah is the portion of my share, and of my cup, Thou — Thou dost uphold my lot.

⁶ Lines have fallen to me in pleasant places, Yea, a beauteous inheritance is for me.
