¹ Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.

² O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond thee.

³ As for the saints that are in the earth, They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god: Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take their names upon my lips.

⁵ Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot.

⁶ The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly heritage.

⁷ I will bless Jehovah, who hath given me counsel; Yea, my heart instructeth me in the night seasons.

⁸ I have set Jehovah always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall dwell in safety.

¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

¹ A Prayer of David. Hearken, O Lord of my righteousness, attend to my petition; give ear to my prayer not uttered with deceitful lips.

² Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let mine eyes behold righteousness.

³ Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me by night; thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: I am purposed that my mouth shall not speak amiss.

⁴ As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded myself from hard ways.

⁵ Direct my steps in thy paths, that my steps slip not.

⁶ I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words.

⁷ Shew the marvels of thy mercies, thou that savest them that hope in thee.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of the eye from those that resist thy right hand: thou shalt screen me by the covering of thy wings,

⁹ from the face of the ungodly that have afflicted me: mine enemies have compassed about my soul.

¹⁰ They have enclosed themselves with their own fat: their mouth has spoken pride.

¹¹ They have now cast me out and compassed me round about: they have set their eyes so as to bow them down to the ground.

¹ God, protect me because I go to you to keep me safe!

² I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; all the good things that I have come from you.”

³ Your people who live in this land are wonderful; I delight to be with them.

⁴ Those who choose to worship other gods will have many things that cause them to be sad. I will not join them when they make sacrifices to their gods; I will not even join them when they speak MTY the names of their gods.

⁵ Yahweh, you are the one whom I have chosen, and you give me great blessings. You protect me and control what happens to me.

⁶ Yahweh has given me a wonderful place in which to live; I am delighted with all the things that he has given me MET.

⁷ I will praise Yahweh, the one who teaches/disciplines me; even at night he you put in my mind what is right for me to do.

⁸ I know that Yahweh is always with me. He is beside me; so nothing will ◄perturb me/cause me to be worried►.

⁹ Therefore I am glad and I MTY, DOU rejoice; I can rest securely

¹⁰ because you, Yahweh, will not allow my soul/spirit to remain in the place where the dead people are; you will not allow me, your godly one, to stay there.

¹¹ You will show me the road that leads to receiving eternal life, and you will make me joyful when I am with you. I will have pleasure forever when I am ◄at your right hand/seated next to you►.

⁴ Their sorrows will be increased who go after another god: I will not take drink offerings from their hands, or take their names on my lips.

⁵ The Lord is my heritage and the wine of my cup; you are the supporter of my right.

⁶ Fair are the places marked out for me; I have a noble heritage.

⁷ I will give praise to the Lord who has been my guide; knowledge comes to me from my thoughts in the night.

⁸ I have put the Lord before me at all times; because he is at my right hand, I will not be moved.

⁹ Because of this my heart is glad, and my glory is full of joy: while my flesh takes its rest in hope.

¹⁰ For you will not let my soul be prisoned in the underworld; you will not let your loved one see the place of death.

¹¹ You will make clear to me the way of life; where you are joy is complete; in your right hand there are pleasures for ever and ever.

¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol, neither wilt thou allow thy Holy One to see corruption.

¹¹ Thou wilt make known to me the path of life: thy countenance is fulness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.

¹ The prayer of David. Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear unto my prayer, which proceedeth not from deceitful lips.

² Let my judgment come forth from thy countenance: let thy eyes behold the things that are equitable.

³ Thou hast proved my heart, and visited it by night, thou hast tried me by fire: and iniquity hath not been found in me.

⁴ That my mouth may not speak the works of men: for the sake of the words of thy lips, I have kept hard ways.

⁵ Perfect thou my goings in thy paths: that my footsteps be not moved.

⁶ I have cried to thee, for thou, O God, hast heard me: O incline thy ear unto me, and hear my words.

⁷ Shew forth thy wonderful mercies; thou who savest them that trust in thee.

⁸ From them that resist thy right hand keep me, as the apple of thy eye. Protect me under the shadow of thy wings.

⁹ From the face of the wicked who have afflicted me. My enemies have surrounded my soul:

¹⁰ They have shut up their fat: their mouth hath spoken proudly.

¹¹ They have cast me forth and now they have surrounded me: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth.

¹ A psalm (miktam) of David. Take care of me, Lord, for I come to you for protection.

² I tell the Lord, “Apart from you Lord, I don't have anything that's good.”

³ As for the holy people in the land, they are the ones who are truly great. I appreciate them.

⁴ Those who run after other gods will face a lot of trouble. I will not participate in their offerings of blood, I will not even speak the names of their gods.

⁵ Lord, you alone are all I have; you give me what I need; you safeguard my future.

⁶ The land divisions have worked out in my favor—my property is wonderful!

⁷ I will bless the Lord who gives me good advice; even at night my conscience tells me what is right.

⁸ I have always kept the Lord in front of me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

⁹ That's why I'm so happy! That's why I am full of joy! That's why my body lives in hope!

¹⁰ For you will not abandon me in the grave, nor will you allow your Holy One to experience decay.

¹¹ You have shown me the path of life, filling me with joy with your presence and the delight of living with you forever.

¹ Michtam of Dauid. Preserue mee, O God: for in thee doe I trust.

² O my soule, thou hast sayd vnto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my weldoing extendeth not to thee,

³ But to the Saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent: all my delite is in them.

⁴ The sorowes of them, that offer to an other god, shall be multiplied: their offerings of blood will I not offer, neither make mention of their names with my lips.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou shalt mainteine my lot.

⁶ The lines are fallen vnto me in pleasant places: yea, I haue a faire heritage.

⁷ I wil prayse the Lord, who hath giuen me counsell: my reines also teach me in the nightes.

⁸ I haue set the Lord alwayes before me: for hee is at my right hand: therefore I shall not slide.

⁹ Wherefore mine heart is glad and my tongue reioyceth: my flesh also doeth rest in hope.

¹⁰ For thou wilt not leaue my soule in the graue: neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption.

¹¹ Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is the fulnesse of ioy: and at thy right hand there are pleasures for euermore.

³ As for the holy that are in the earth, they are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

⁴ Let the idols of them be multiplied that make suit unto another; their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names upon my lips.

⁶ My possessions are fallen in agreeable places: yea, my heritage is pleasant to me.

⁷ I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: also in the night seasons my reins admonish me.

⁸ I have always set the Lord before me, that, being at my right hand, I might not be moved.

⁹ Therefore is rejoiced my heart, and my spirit is glad: also my flesh shall rest in safety.

¹⁰ For thou wilt not abandon my soul to the grave: thou wilt not suffer thy pious servant to see corruption.

¹¹ Thou wilt let me know the path of life: fulness of joy is in thy presence; pleasures are at thy right hand for evermore.

⁴ They who hasten after other gods shall have multiplied sorrows; Their drink-offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor will I take their names upon my lips.

⁵ Jehovah is my portion and my cup; Thou wilt maintain my lot!

⁶ My portion hath fallen to me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly inheritance.

⁷ I will bless the LORD, who careth for me; Yea, in the night my heart admonisheth me.

⁸ I set the LORD before me at all times; Since he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my spirit rejoiceth; Yea, my flesh dwelleth in security.

¹⁰ For thou wilt not give me up to the underworld; Nor wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see the pit.

⁶ The boundary lines of my life mark out delightful country, my heritage pleases me well.

⁷ I praise the Lord for his counsel, which so stirs my heart in the night.

⁸ I keep the Lord always in mind: with him at my hand, I can never be moved.

⁹ So my heart is glad, there is joy inside me; and in safety of body I live.

¹⁰ For you will not give me up to Sheol nor let any who love you see the pit.

¹¹ You will show me the path that leads to life, to that fulness of joy which is in your presence, and the pleasures dispensed by your hand evermore.

³ Those who are holy in the land, they, they alone, are the noble ones; all my delight is in them.”
