Psalms 15:1-5 in English

¹ A Psalm of David. Jehovah, who shall sojourn in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

² He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, And speaketh truth in his heart;

³ He that slandereth not with his tongue, Nor doeth evil to his friend, Nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor;

⁴ In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honoreth them that fear Jehovah; He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not;

⁵ He that putteth not out his money to interest, Nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

² I said to the Lord, Thou art my Lord; for thou hast no need of my goodness.

³ On behalf of the saints that are in his land, he has magnified all his pleasure in them.

⁴ Their weaknesses have been multiplied; afterward they hasted. I will by no means assemble their bloody meetings, neither will I make mention of their names with my lips.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou art he that restores my inheritance to me.

¹ Yahweh, who are allowed to enter your Sacred Tent? Who are allowed to live on your sacred mountain?

² Only those who always do what is right and do not sin may do that. They always say what is true

³ and they do not slander others. They do not do to others things that are wrong, and they do not say bad things about others.

⁴ Godly people hate those whom God has rejected, but they respect those who revere Yahweh. They do what they have promised to do even if it causes them trouble to do that.

⁵ They lend money to others without charging interest, and they never accept bribes in order to lie about people who have not done what is wrong. Those who do those things will never stop trusting God even if disastrous things happen to them.

³ Whose tongue is not false, who does no evil to his friend, and does not take away the good name of his neighbour;

⁴ Who gives honour to those who have the fear of the Lord, turning away from him who has not the Lord's approval. He who takes an oath against himself, and makes no change.

⁵ He who does not put out his money at interest, or for payment give false decisions against men who have done no wrong. He who does these things will never be moved.

⁵ He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

³ To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.

⁴ Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.

¹ A psalm of David. Who may enter your sanctuary, Lord? Who may come into your presence on your holy mountain?

² Those who live without fault and do what is right, those who sincerely tell the truth.

³ They do not slander, do not treat their neighbors badly, do not gossip about people they know.

⁴ They reject people the Lord has rejected, but honor those who follow the Lord. They keep their promises even when it's hard to do. They don't change their minds.

⁵ They lend money without charging interest. They don't take bribes to testify against the innocent. Those who act like this will never ever fall.

⁵ which gave not his money to usury; and took not gifts upon the innocent. He, that doeth these things, shall not be moved without end.

He that sweareth to his neighbour, and deceiveth him not; (He who regardeth the wicked as worthless; but he honoureth those who fear the Lord or those who revere the Lord. He who sweareth an oath, or who promiseth, to his neighbour, and deceiveth him not;)

⁵ which gave not his money to usury; and took not gifts upon the innocent. He, that doeth these things, shall not be moved into without end. (who did not put out his money to usury; and who took no gifts, or bribes, to be against the innocent. He, who doeth these things, shall never be moved, or shaken, from his secure place in the Lord.)

⁴ Despised in his eyes is a rejected one, And those fearing Jehovah he doth honour. He hath sworn to suffer evil, and changeth not;

⁵ His silver he hath not given in usury, And a bribe against the innocent Hath not taken; Whoso is doing these is not moved to the age!
